Sarina Wiegman's squad edged past Sweden in a dramatic quarter-final which will live long in the memory. They trailed by two at half-time, but quickfire goals from veteran full-back Lucy Bronze and impact substitute Michelle Agyemang forced extra time.
Then followed a remarkable penalty shootout which ended 3-2 in favour of the Lionesses after 14 shots, nine of which were missed or saved.
Bronze was key again as she stepped up in sudden death and pounded her spot-kick into the roof of the net, before Swden's Smilla Holmberg fired over to confirm England's win.
There remain some lingering injury doubts from the tie, though, as captain Leah Williamson was withdrawn in the second half with an apparent ankle injury.

Barcelona transfer signing could be in store for surpising start
Barcelona transfer signing could be in store for surpising start originally appeared on The Sporting News Starting striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out for a few weeks with a hamstring issue according to a statement from This provides potentially a surprise start for summer transfer Marcus Rashford who was brought in as a rotational player and occasionally a starter from the left wing position, but now he might be given the chance to start at striker to kick off Barcelona's league campaign. This isn't a guarantee that he starts though as Ferran Torres had plenty of experience last season covering for Lewandowski coming up with almost 20 goals in all competitions. Ferran also does seem to be heavily relied on by Flick as he's been his first attacker off the bench since the manager arrived. Rashford did start in the Joan Gamper trophy which was mostly made up of starters and showed his ability to link up play well by providing an assist. He also did get hooked at the half and had a bad miss on an open net so it's unsure how much stake should be put into that game. If Rashford does get the start, it would be a great way to showcase his ability as it's unclear how many starts he's likely to get this season. He has the perfet chance to show he's still an amazing player and will play a key role throughout the season. It would be him playing out of position a bit but in Rashford's situation he has to take advantage of any opportunity given to him. He's also is playing with two of the best wingers and creators in the world so if he does get the start, he has no reason not to perform well.

Real Betis in for turbulent season as star man Isco breaks his leg
Real Betis in for turbulent season as star man Isco breaks his leg originally appeared on The Sporting News Real Betis had a pretty good year last year making the Conference League final and finishing in the Europa League spots last season. Heading into this season though, they have sold pivot Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, sold young talent Jesus Rodriguez, have been unable to bring back Antony, and now have suffered a blow to their star man Isco. According to Isco has suffered a leg fracture during a preseason game against Malaga. This injury is expected to sideline the 33-year-old for around three months. This is a huge hit to Betis's campaign as the flairy midfielder has been their most impactful player since he arrived, winning Conference League player of the season. Isco was also out at the start of last season and it was Betis's worst stretch as they had 5 wins in the 15 La Liga matches he missed. They may be able to bring in Dani Ceballos who has consistently been linked to a move away from Real Madrid and his boyhood club being Betis. This would cost a fee though as report that Madrid want around 20 million euros for him. Betis may not be able to afford this deal as they are still attempting to sign Manchester United winger Antony on a permanent deal. Betis have some transfer business to do with just a few weeks left in the transfer window and they have to get it right. If they don't get their business right then they could be in store for a difficult season that could see them slip into midtable mediocrity.

Roma beat Everton thanks to Matias Soule winner
In what was the inauguration of Everton's new stadium, Roma went on to beat the Toffees 1-0 in their final game of the pre-season tour of England. The goal was scored in the second half by Argentine forward Matias Soule. This win was much needed given Roma's 4-0 loss to Aston Villa earlier in the week. This could be a big season for Soule. The talent is clearly there and in the last couple of seasons, he has shown plenty of it. With Paulo Dybala ageing, the scene is set for Soule to really explode and become the central figure in Roma's attack and one of the best in Serie A overall. It's also worth keeping in mind that new Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has a fantastic track record with attackers. For Roma, new signings Neil El Aynaoui and Daniele Ghilardi were quite impressive and comfortable. The same could not be said of Wesley however as he struggled a little in possession. With Artem Dobvyk's form not improving, it will not be surprising if Evan Ferguson starts the first game of the season. Kaulik Mitra | GIFN
