Alexander Isak responds to Man Utd approach with £110m Liverpool bid rejected
Liverpool have seen their £110 million bid for the 25-year-old rejected by Newcastle this week.
The Premier League champions are now willing to end talks with Newcastle and are not planning to increase their offer for the Sweden international.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are understood to be holding out for a £150m fee for their striker, who has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances during his three years at St James' Park.
Manchester United are also in the market for a new striker and are now pushing ahead with a deal to sign RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko before the start of the new Premier League season.

However, Sky Germany report that United made an enquiry for Isak this week but the striker has made it clear that he only wants to join Liverpool.
Isak is attempting to force through a move away from St James' Park and is currently training away from the first-team squad in Spain at his former club Real Sociedad.
The striker joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in a £60m deal in August 2022.
Speaking last week, Alan Shearer urged Newcastle to sell Isak if their asking price is met. More Trending
'Eddie Howe has to use all his persuasive powers to do what he can and try to make him stay at least one more year,' Shearer told Betfair.
'If that can't happen then it is what it is. You have to get the very best deal for the football club and if someone is prepared to pay north of £150 million, and if he really, really wants to go, you can't step in his way.
'Isak has been brilliant for Newcastle, helped us achieve our dream of winning a trophy and if there's no way whatsoever that he can be persuaded to stay at Newcastle, then they have to get the best deal possible and if someone's prepared to pay what they want, you have to say thank you and build for the future.
'There's no individual bigger than the football club.'

Birmingham City v Ipswich Town: Championship opener
Update: Date: 2025-08-08T17:55:31.000Z Title: Preamble Content: Birmingham City and Ipswich Town return to the Championship tonight, albeit from different directions, and possibly therefore in different moods. Birmingham slummed it in League One last season, racking up 111 points on their way to the second third-tier title in their history; meanwhile Ipswich, having reached the Premier League arguably ahead of schedule, won just four games all season and were cashiered back from whence they came. Ipswich's sorry fate won't have any bearing on the ambitions of these two clubs. Town want to bounce back to the top flight immediately, and are the short-priced favourites to win this division; Birmingham fancy following in Ipswich's footsteps, given the Tractor Boys were the last team to leap from League One to the Premier League with successive promotions, and they're third-favourites in the race for glory. Everyone can work out how to stay in the Premier League when they get there. An exciting way to begin the Championship season, then. The match kicks off at 8pm UK time, and if we can get through the entire evening without reference to either Tom Brady or Ed Sheeran that'll also be great.

Burnley sign Armando Broja from Chelsea on permanent deal
Broja moved to Chelsea from Tottenham aged eight in 2009 before progressing through the Blues' academy all the way up to the first-team ranks, where he made 38 appearances and scored nine goals. However, Broja – an English-born striker who represents Albania, the country where his parents are from – has had several loan spells away from west London, most recently at Everton last season. The Toffees decided against making the transfer permanent but with Chelsea bolstering their forward line with the big-money signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer, Broja has decided to move on. Burnley FC are pleased to confirm the signing of Armando Broja, who joins the Club on a five-year contract from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee ✍️ He's arrived 🙌 — Burnley FC (@BurnleyOfficial) August 8, 2025 The 23-year-old, who has also played for Southampton and Fulham in the Premier League, said: 'I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player. 'It's a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can't wait to get going. 'I'm feeling good, I'm ready and I'm excited about the challenge of playing for this club. I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous claret shirt.' Burnley have also raided Stamford Bridge to sign Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu in the off-season as they look to strengthen ahead of their return to the top flight.
