NFL Insider Speaks on Terry McLaurin's Holdout
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. As mandatory minicamps continue, one of the biggest stories across the NFL is playing holding out for business reasons. Among the teams currently at odds with one of their key players is the Washington Commanders. This season, wide receiver Terry McLaurin finds himself in the final year of his contract. Instead of hitting the open market, he is in search of a new deal that will keep him in Washington for the foreseeable future. However, the two sides have been able to agree on terms. Because of this, McLaurin has continued to be away from the Commanders until he and the front office work things out from the business side of things. On Thursday, ESPN's senior NFL insider Adam Schefter was a guest on "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss topics across the league. He weighed in on numerous players holding out for new contracts, including McLaurin. However, he also brought up that the star receiver is displeased with how negotiations have gone thus far. "I think the team feels like it's going to get something done with Terry McLaurin," Schefter said. "I think Terry McLaurin clearly is frustrated with where talks are at because not only did he not show up for the mandatory minicamp, but he hasn't participated in any of the team's offseason activities. He has been a no-show for that." "I think the Commanders feel like they're gonna get a deal done with Terry McLaurin.. I know that Terry McLaurin is very frustrated with where talks are at.. He hasn't participated in any of the offseason activities" ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive — Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) June 12, 2025 One thing the Commanders have going for them is that they've been in this situation before. McLaurin pulled a similar stunt back in the summer of 2022 for similar reasons. The final result was he and the Commanders agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth just over $68 million. Since being drafted by the Commanders back in 2019, McLaurin has become a foundational piece for the franchise. He's been one of the more consistent wideouts in the NFL, racking up at least 1,000 yards in each of the last five seasons. McLaurin also built an instant connection with new quarterback Jayden Daniels, catching a career-high 13 touchdowns in 2024. Fresh off appearing in the NFC Championship game, the Commanders will look to remain in the title hunt in 2025. They've committed to winning now, bringing in upgrades like Deebo Samuel in the offseason. However, if Washington is going to operate at its best, they'll need a locked in McLaurin. Still with lots of time before the regular season gets underway, the Commanders aren't in a rush to agree on a new deal with McLaurin. That said, it's a situation they'll certainly want to rectify sooner rather than later.

Eagles' AJ Brown Thrilled With Cowboys Acquisition of George Picks
The Philadelphia Eagles always knew that their run for a second straight NFC East title would be far more difficult than last year. The mere fact there hasn't been a repeat winner since the 2004 team, and the Washington Commanders improving their roster over the offseason, only enhanced that belief. Advertisement And now, maybe? There's another team ready to get back to competing with the Eagles for NFC East supremacy. The Dallas Cowboys. While Dallas' 7-10 record was nothing to celebrate last season, they were one of the most injured units in sports last year. It's no wonder why the Dak Prescott-led team faltered midway through the year like they did. During the offseason, they were also able to make some major acquisitions, including the trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens. While the Georgia star has never been to a Pro Bowl or All-Pro team, he possesses freakish athleticism that will make NFL defenses nervous. Advertisement It's why, following the trade, Eagles All-Pro A.J. Brown - in an unusual way - sort of celebrated the move. 'I like that, I ain't gonna lie,' said Brown on his YouTube channel. 'We're going to have to worry about (Dallas), for sure. We're going to have to worry about them. I like the trade. I do like the trade.' 'I like George Pickens, I like CeeDee Lamb. And they collab. It's going to be exciting to watch. Because all that does is bring the best out of us. So, if we know how they coming, we are going to have to step it up.' The league is always better when the Eagles and Cowboys are at each other's throats for the division crown. It seems, after a year hiatus, that fans of both teams might just be able to see that once again.
