BSF Showcases Weapons Used Against Pakistan During Operation Sindoor

The weapons were showcased during a weapon exhibition at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Jammu.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday showcased a range of weapons, including the 'Vidhwansak' anti-material rifle, Automatic Grenade Launcher System, which were used by the defence forces in Operation Sindoor to target terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The weapons were showcased during a weapon exhibition at the BSF Frontier Headquarters in Jammu. The officials explained how these weapons played a crucial role in the operation and were effective in destroying enemy posts across the border.
1. Anti-Material Rifle 'Vidhwansak': The BSF showcased the 'Vidhwansak' Anti-Material Rifle, which struck Pakistani towers and bunkers during the Operation. The rifle's range is 1300 meters and 1800 meters. BSF official Rakesh Kaushik told news agency ANI that the barrels, bolts and magazines are changed as per the need. One magazine has three rounds. It destroys the enemy's pillboxes, bunkers and armed cars. It is made in India and destroyed all the given targets during Operation Sindoor. He added that Pakistan's observation outpost was destroyed using Vidhwansak.
2. Automatic Grenade Launcher System: A demonstration was held of the Automatic Grenade Launcher System, which destroyed the enemy hideouts, posts, and bulletproof vehicles during Operation Sindoor. BSF officer Ram Niwas said, This Automatic Grenade System proved a very successful weapon during Operation Sindoor to destroy enemy posts, hideouts and also their bullet-proof vehicles. Its range is 1700-2100 meters. The grenade fired from it has a killing area of 10 meters. Its fire is very effective."
3. Medium Machine Gun (MMG): The Medium Machine Gun was used effectively to counter Pakistan's attacks during Operation Sindoor. It was also usedto neutralise Pakistani bunkers and drones, with a high rate of fire. 'We destroyed Pakistani posts and drones with this Medium Machine Gun. It can fire 600-1000 rounds per minute," a BSF personnel said.
A BSF officer explained that the medium machine gun is operated by three personnel. This was used by the BSF to counter Pakistan's attacks during Operation Sindoor. 'It fires at 650-1000 rounds per minute and can even stop the flowing water with its speed…It has a huge effect. The post within the range of the rifle was also destroyed," he added.
4.12.7mm Anti-Aircraft Gun: The BSF presented the 12.7mm Anti-Aircraft Gun, used to shot down drones and destroy enemy infrastructure along the border during Operation Sindoor. BSF official Ravi Kant said that it is a belt-loaded crew weapon, operated by three soldiers. It has a range of two kilometres. It is useful in destroying the enemy's cars and tanks. He said, "Operation Sindoor went well; whoever came in front of us was destroyed. He added that the gun forced the enemy to leave their BOP (Border Outpost)."
What Is Operation Sindoor?
India launched 'precision strikes" under Operation Sindoor on nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The strikes killed over 100 terrorists including 10 family members of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar and four close aides.
Targets included Jaish's Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Sarjal camp in Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli, and the Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad. Lashkar's strongholds — Markaz Taiba in Murdike, Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala, and Shwawai Nalla camp in Muzaffarabad — were also hit. Hizbul Mujahideen's facilities at Makaz Raheel Shahid in Kotli and Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot were among those targeted.
The strikes, carried out with surgical precision, mark one of the most significant cross-border counter-terror operations since Balakot.

Both the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Supreme Court have reprimanded the minister for his statement, and Shah has apologised for the comments three times. The ruling BJP went into damage control mode, and the central leadership of the party is yet to take a call on Shah's future. While his visit to Khandwa on May 28 marks his first public outing since the backlash, he did not speak to the media. Local BJP sources said Shah spent over two hours with the victim's family and promised both financial support and systemic interventions. He reportedly handed over a Rs 60,000 cheque, committed to building a tin roof for the family's house, and promised further financial assistance, sources said. 'He also said that a young girl in the family who had dropped out of school would be re-enrolled. Monthly monitoring meetings are to be initiated in the area to track school dropouts,' a BJP leader said. The Opposition Congress had launched a sarcastic 'missing minister' campaign, plastering posters across Indore and Bhopal with his photograph and a mock reward of Rs 11,000 for anyone who could find him. During this period, Shah skipped the special Cabinet meeting in the historic Rajwada palace to commemorate regional icon, Ahilyabai Holkar, on May 20 and another special Cabinet meeting hosted in the scenic town of Pachmarhi on Tuesday, to honour tribal icon and freedom fighter, Raja Bhabhoot Singh. Shah had also skipped the 300th birth anniversary events of Ahilyabai Holkar, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had arrived in Bhopal on May 31. The Supreme Court has extended the operation of its interim order protecting Shah from arrest. It also closed the suo motu proceedings pending before the Madhya Pradesh High Court as it is already seized of the matter. The SIT had submitted its report to the Supreme Court, which contained investigation details like forensic evidence, and sought more time for the probe.

Great sympathy and understanding in UK for what India has gone through due to cross-border terrorism: Indian envoy Doraiswami
London [UK], June 4 (ANI): India's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vikram Doraiswami, has said that there is great sympathy and understanding in the UK for what India has suffered due to cross-border terrorism that has emanated from Pakistan and Pakistan-controlled territory. In an interview with ANI, Doraiswami emphasised that India's ties with the UK have gained traction. The UK's approach to challenges that have persisted in South Asia has been much more understanding of India's concerns and more willing to respect that these problems need to be solved by India and Pakistan. Responding to questions about the all-party Indian delegation's meetings in the UK, Doraiswami said, 'I don't want to put words into either our parliamentarians' mouths or those of our British friends, but I think there was a great deal of receptivity to the message. There is great sympathy and understanding in the UK for what India has gone through in terms of our long and painful journey with cross-border terrorism that has emanated from Pakistan-controlled territory and the state of Pakistan. There is a great sense of understanding of the anger and hurt in India that this scourge just doesn't go away.' 'That said, of course, the UK has its own position. It's a sovereign government. It will take its own decisions, but in the last decade and more, we see a steady evolution as our relationship with the UK has gained weight, traction, and strategic dimensions. The UK's approach to challenges that have long persisted in South Asia has been much more understanding of our concerns, much more willing to respect the fact that these are problems that have to be solved by India and Pakistan and indeed all other problems in the region by the region. And that India's rise is, in broader terms, the greatest benefit of the Indo-Pacific region and the world as a whole. So, that sense comes through to all our parliamentarians,' he added. Doraiswami emphasised that the all-party delegation's visit was aimed at conveying the sentiments of Indian citizens, and India welcomed the international community's understanding of the country's need to ensure national security. When asked about the Indian delegation's expectations from the UK, he said, 'I shouldn't, we should never set out expectations of a friend. We have come here as far as I can understand from our parliamentary leaders, the people of India as representatives, that we are not here to seek favour from anybody. We are here to explain our position. We are here to point out what the people of India feel, and of course. We welcome the fact that our partners understand what we have to do, but we will do what we need to do to secure the people of India, any government of India, the current government in particular, are committed and will always remain committed to do whatever is necessary to secure our people, and that message has landed.' The all-party delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, was in the UK to garner widespread support for India's fight against terrorism and to expose Pakistan's role in fostering terrorism. All of them are concerned that terrorism is a cancer... We also said that they (Pakistan) get loans from the IMF and World Bank and they get other funding too. So, is the funding being used for terrorism and weapon purchases or for the poor? This should be asked of them... Everyone said one more thing: that the all-party Parliamentary delegation visit is a new initiative,' Prasad said. The delegation met UK Minister for Citizenship and Migration and Minister for Equalities Seema Malhotra at the UK Parliament. The delegation also held a meeting with the UK's Shadow Foreign Secretary, Priti Patel, and her team on Sunday to share India's firm resolve to counter cross-border terrorism. In a post on X, the Indian High Commission in the UK stated, 'The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation met with Shadow Foreign Secretary @pritipatel and her team to share India's firm resolve in combating cross-border terrorism. They also highlighted how #OperationSindoor exemplifies the new normal set by India in this ongoing effort.' An all-party delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, visited London as part of India's global outreach program to convey the country's firm stance against terrorism. (ANI)

"Insulted India, armed forces...": BJP MP Sambit Patra slams Rahul Gandhi over Operation Sindoor remarks
New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra launched a sharp attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on India's retaliatory military action against Pakistan and Operation Sindoor, accusing him of 'insulting the country and its armed forces.' The BJP MP said Rahul Gandhi's speech in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday does not befit any 'civilised politician or any leader of the opposition.' Sharing a self-made video on X, Sambit Patra said, 'Today, during his speech in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi has not only insulted Operation Sindoor but also the Indian Army and the country. The way Rahul Gandhi spoke about Operation Sindoor does not befit any civilised politician, any leader of the opposition or any politician. This kind of politician, who uses words like 'surrender' for his motherland, is not fit for the country.' 'The terrorist attack of Pahalgam was avenged by entering a nuclear-powered country, nine terrorist hideouts were destroyed, more than 100 terrorists were killed, and when retaliation took place, 11 airbases of Pakistan were destroyed. All this is on record, there is evidence... India has never surrendered to terrorism,' he added. Patra further said, 'When there was a logjam between India and China over Doklam, Rahul Gandhi's entire family was caught spying against India...' This comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-led government on Tuesday over allegations of mediation by the United States in Operation Sindoor. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'followed' Donald Trump following a call by the US leader and that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did not budge to the US in the 1971 war. Addressing a convention of Congress workers in Bhopal, LoP Rahul Gandhi said, 'Now, I understand RSS-BJP well. They run away out of fear if slight pressure is put on them. When Trump called Modiji- Modiji kya kar rahe ho, Narender-Surrender and with 'ji hazooor', Narenderji followed Trump. In the 1971 war, Seventh Fleet (came from the US), India Gandhi said I will do whatever I have to do. This is the difference. This is their character; all of them are like this. Since the Independence movement, they have had the habit of writing letters of surrender.' He also reiterated his attack on social media, X, stating, 'Trump's phone came, and PM Narendra Modi ji immediately surrendered. History is witness. 'The 'babbar sher' and 'shernis' of Congress fight the Superpowers, they do not bow,' his post read. Rahul Gandhi's speech in Madhya Pradesh has sparked reactions from the BJP leaders. BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan launched a blistering attack on Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday, accusing him of cowardice and hypocrisy. He alleged that Congress has a legacy of appeasement and weak leadership. Responding to Rahul Gandhi's recent comments critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kesavan said, 'The Congress party, ever since Nehru's days, has been hyphenated with cowardice. Rahul Gandhi says don't be afraid, but he himself is afraid to release the contents of 51 cartons of letters written by Jawaharlal Nehru, which rightfully belong to the nation.' Referring to recent military operations, Kesavan said Gandhi's remarks insulted the armed forces. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari also launched a fierce attack on Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making 'indecent' remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioning his values and patriotism. Bhandari also alleged that the Congress leader's actions, including offering tributes to former PM Indira Gandhi without removing his shoes, reflect a disregard for Indian traditions and respect. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed credit for stopping hostilities between India and Pakistan after New Delhi's effective response to Islamabad's aggression following precision strikes on terror infrastructure. India had conducted Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India effectively responded to subsequent Pakistani aggression and pounded its airbases. India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action following a call made by Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) to his Indian counterpart. (ANI)
