The Wahoo Kickr Run makes it feel like you're running outside
Running nowhere fast on a treadmill can make you feel like an oversized hamster in a wheel, but the new Wahoo Kickr Run makes the captive rodent life look quite appealing – especially when the alternative is going outside to dodge dog turds and packs of vaping teenagers on electric scooters in the local park.
Unlike most treadmills, which continually move at the same steady pace that you set, the Wahoo Kickr Run has a RunFree mode that uses a sensor to detect your position on the machine. Go through your gears and move towards the front of the machine and it'll speed up in response, whereas dropping off towards the back will slow it down, so you can control your runs without having to touch anything.
The Wahoo Kickr Run can also tilt gradually from side-to-side to mimic uneven outdoor terrain, plus there's automatic gradient control that adjusts the angle of the surface between -3% and 15%, so if you hook it up to Zwift it'll replicate the ups and downs of your virtual route.
There's no screen built in, but you do get a small platform at the front that's big enough to hold a laptop. Add the Kickr Headwind fan (£230) and you'll even be able to feel the breeze on your face while you run – just add some puffs of dog egg flavour vape smoke and you've got the full experience covered.
If you've got space (and budget) for a treadmill this big it's fair to assume you're a pretty dedicated runner, so it can cater for speeds up to four minutes per mile (aka Roger Bannister Mode).
There's no UK pricing info for the Wahoo Kickr Run yet, but it's already available in the US where it'll set you back $5000 (plus $300 delivery and installation) so start saving now for when it goes on sale here in July.

Father and son say starring with Harrison Ford in whisky campaign was ‘surreal'
Alan Duff Snr, 62, a veteran production worker, and his son Alan, 31, who has worked at the distillery since 2016, have almost 40 years of experience between them, and they appear in a quarter of the 12 adverts made for the Glenmorangie campaign Once Upon A Time In Scotland. The episodic ads are directed by actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton, and feature the Star Wars actor playing himself as they follow the production of Glenmorangie Original 12 Years Old and The Infinita 18 Years Old, in Tain. The adverts, being shown on TV and social media and also available on YouTube, are said by Glenmorangie to celebrate 'the significance of its home, its craftsmanship and the people that make its award-winning whiskies'. Ford is shown on film getting to grips with Scottish pronunciation and kilt etiquette, bonding with locals over a dram, and getting to know the Duff family. In the second ad, The Campaign, Ford arrives and after mistaking Mr Duff Jnr for another Alan in another department, is given a lesson on how to pronounce Glenmorangie correctly. Mr Duff Jnr, a production operator, said: 'I was very proud to be chosen to play opposite Harrison. You knew you were in the presence of someone so successful, but he made us all feel so comfortable and gave me the advice to just be myself on screen.' He joined the distillery nine years ago after graduating from university, and said the Hollywood star made him forget they were being filmed. Mr Duff Jnr said: 'Filming the scene itself was a lot of fun, but totally surreal. He is such a good actor, I was in awe watching him and sometimes didn't know when he was in or out of character. 'He kept me on my toes when he went off script but gave me the space to wing it and bounce off of him, so much so I forgot the cameras were there. 'Not all fathers and sons have the opportunity to learn alongside each other so I consider myself lucky to get to work with my father every day, and sharing the experience acting alongside Harrison Ford together is something I'll never forget.' In the fifth advert, The Distillery, Ford meets the whole production team, including the father and son due, and he jokes to Mr Duff Snr: 'Ahhhh… he's your fault.' Ford then instructs Mr Duff Jnr: 'Look after me car' – a rare Eagle Speedster Jaguar E-type. In the 10th episode, called Teamwork, Ford raises his glass to toast 'the good people of Glenmorangy' – before being corrected again by Mr Duff Jnr, who tells him: 'It's Glenmorangie.' Mr Duff Snr, a production operator for nearly 30 years, said: 'I was quite nervous to 'act' alongside a global icon like Harrison Ford, but he was a gem of a guy and it was great to see him working. 'My son Alan managed to grow quite a rapport with him, so when Harrison uncovered the fact I was his father, we all had a joke about that.'

Starmer accused of U-turn after ordering inquiry into grooming gangs
After resisting pressure for months to implement a full probe, the Prime Minister said he had read 'every single word' of an independent report into child sexual exploitation by Baroness Louise Casey and would accept her recommendation for the investigation. Earlier this year, the Government dismissed calls for a public inquiry, saying its focus was on putting in place the outstanding recommendations already made in a seven-year national inquiry by Professor Alexis Jay. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage described the move as a 'welcome U-turn', while Kemi Badenoch called on him to apologise for 'six wasted months'. 'Just like he dismissed concerns about the winter fuel payment and then had to U-turn, just like he needed the Supreme Court to tell him what a woman is, he had to be led by the nose to make the correct decision here,' she said. 'I've been repeatedly calling for a full national inquiry since January. It's about time he recognised he made a mistake and apologised for six wasted months.' Speaking to reporters travelling with him on his visit to Canada, the Prime Minister said: 'I have never said we should not look again at any issue. I have wanted to be assured that on the question of any inquiry. That's why I asked Louise Casey who I hugely respect to do an audit. 'Her position when she started the audit was that there was not a real need for a national inquiry over and above what was going on. 'She has looked at the material she has looked at and she has come to the view that there should be a national inquiry on the basis of what she has seen. 'I have read every single word of her report and I am going to accept her recommendation. That is the right thing to do on the basis of what she has put in her audit.' The Times newspaper reported that the findings of Baroness Casey's review will be set out in Parliament on Monday. The inquiry will be able to compel witnesses to give evidence, and it is understood that it will be national in scope, co-ordinating a series of targeted local investigations. Prof Jay's 2022 report concluded there had been institutional failings across the country and tens of thousands of victims in England and Wales. A national row over grooming gangs was ignited in January after tech billionaire Elon Musk used his X social media platform to launch a barrage of attacks on Sir Keir and safeguarding minister Jess Phillips. It followed the Government's decision to decline a request from Oldham Council for a Whitehall-led inquiry into child sexual abuse in the town. The Government later commissioned a 'rapid' audit by Lady Casey into the nature and scale of group-based child sexual abuse, which had been due to take three months but was delayed.

Carlos Sainz fumes at Isack Hadjar for 'destroying' F1 Canadian GP qualifying
Carlos Sainz was left fuming after he claimed Isack Hadjar impeded him during qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, which meant Williams driver was eliminated in Q1. Having looked strong over practice, Sainz felt his race weekend was left in tatters by Hadjar and hit out at the Racing Bulls driver over team radio. The Frenchman defended his driving and claimed that he thought Sainz had aborted his lap. Basically, I had to do a wet line in a corner. 'Honestly, I don't care right now, we've been quick all weekend, we were quick in race pace, but we're still not where we want to be.' Hadjar, meanwhile, impressed once again as he eventually progressed through to Q3 qualifying in ninth. But, he was still left a little downbeat as the Frenchman took responsibility on behalf of his team for the incident.
