Tiger Woods tipped to make investment in English club after watching Tom Brady's Birmingham transformation
NFL great Tom Brady has enjoyed success with Birmingham ever since investing as minority owner in 2023 with the club currently in the Championship and considered likely to return to the Premier League.

Wrexham have also experienced a tremendous rise ever since Hollywood celebrity pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were announced as co-owners in 2020.
Reynolds and McElhenney led the Red Dragons from the National League all the way up to the Championship where they face Brady 's Birmingham.
Blackburn legend Matt Jansen believes there will be more famous people following that trend.
Jansen, 47, suggested Woods and NBA legend Michael Jordan could soon be next.
The former striker would especially like the PGA great to try his luck in football and strongly advised him to consider Manchester United or his beloved Blackburn amid their ongoing ownership dramas.
Jansen told BettingLounge.co.uk: 'I think Tom Brady is a good one. Maybe Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, people who've been at the top of their sport.
"The number one in their sport will always be impressive, and can relate a little bit more to football than the music industry.
' It could be any club for, couldn't it? But the likes of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods would probably be looking at Liverpool, Chelsea or Man Utd, those kinds of clubs.
"They're that big a star. So is Tom Brady, but Birmingham are really putting their money where their mouth is. I think they'll be a force next season.
' They could target clubs in the EFL. Look at what Wrexham started and they've been a success.
"It'll be other people putting it to the likes of Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, rather than them approaching clubs.
'They'll see whether it's worthwhile investing their time. It's certainly worked for the two at Wrexham, and it's worked for Tom Brady at the moment. How far it'll go, who knows?
'I could see them buying Manchester United. The fans are unhappy with [Sir Jim] Ratcliffe at the minute, and there are protests.
"You couldn't put it past somebody like that coming in, and his aura could bring success.
' They'd certainly welcome them at Blackburn. They're in a bit of a mess with the Venky's at the moment.
"It's a sorry place compared to the great days from Jack Walker's era when I was playing. It's fallen quite far, and they'd definitely welcome some positive publicity.
'I'm a big Tiger Woods fan, so for me a documentary of him at Blackburn or Manchester United would beat any before it.
"Woods is a global superstar and it would certainly be one series I'd be looking forward to. It would be incredible if it happened.'

Dane Murray celebrates contract with goal as Celtic ease past Falkirk
Dane Murray celebrated his new contract with his first Celtic goal as the holders beat Falkirk 4-1 in the Premier Sports Cup. The 22-year-old defender headed home Celtic's third goal of the second-round clash at Parkhead. Murray, who has already overcome two separate cruciate ligament injuries in his career, earlier signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until 2028. Daizen Maeda and Alistair Johnston were also on target and Falkirk defender Liam Henderson put through his own net before Keelan Adams scored an impressive consolation goal for the Premiership newcomers. Centre-back Murray was one of six players coming into the Celtic line-up alongside goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, Auston Trusty, Arne Engels and Johnny Kenny. The Hoops beat then Championship side Falkirk 5-2 on their way to winning last season's tournament and this was another open encounter with both sides creating chances in the first half. Kenny volleyed wide early on after James Forrest's lay-off and former Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain saved long-range strikes from Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney before scrambling to meet Henderson's wayward passback, which just went wide. Ross MacIver dragged a shot wide at the other end after a loose pass from Murray. The breakthrough came in the 26th minute after McGregor returned the ball into the box following a corner. Tierney ran on to meet the cross and nodded the ball down for Maeda to score with a diving header. There were further chances at each end before the break. Sinisalo saved brilliantly from Calvin Miller's 25-yard strike before denying Alfredo Agyeman and MacIver. Engels and Forrest missed close-range headers at the other end. Celtic were more dominant after the break and doubled their lead in the 54th minute after Falkirk lost possession from a throw-in. Johnston chased down Miller as the former Celtic player headed back towards his own goal and the right-back won the ball before curling into the far corner with his left foot. Murray got his big moment in the 61st minute when he headed home from an inswinging corner from Engels. Celtic went further ahead three minutes later as Yang Hyun-jun made an instant impact after coming on with home debutant Shin Yamada. The South Korean winger ran past two opponents after Celtic won the ball back deep in the Bairns half, and his low ball across the goalmouth was turned into his own net by Henderson. The noisy visiting fans got a chance to celebrate three minutes later when right-back Adams arrowed a shot into the top corner from 20 yards. That ended the flurry of goals as Celtic safely navigated their way into Saturday evening's quarter-final draw and avoided any injuries ahead of their Champions League play-off first leg against Kairat Almaty on Wednesday. Liverpool edge Bournemouth in thriller to start Premier League title defence
Liverpool have got their Premier League title defence off to a winning start in thrilling fashion as they scored late to beat Bournemouth at Anfield. It looked to be a comfortable night for the Reds as they opened up a two-goal lead in the second half, but then found themselves level with the Cherries late in the game. It took an unlikely hero in Federico Chiesa to put them back ahead in the dying moments, before a more familiar goal-scorer netted a fourth. Hugo Ekitike opened his Premier League account for the Reds as he put them ahead on 37 minutes, continuing his fine start to life at Liverpool after netting in the Community Shield last weekend. The Frenchman turned provider after the break as he teed up Cody Gakpo and the Dutchman coolly curled in an effort into the bottom corner, just four minutes into the second half. Metro's new weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every Friday – sign up, it's an open goal. Anfield was rocking by this point, with Liverpool looking very dangerous, but it was the away team that grabbed the next goal and turned the tide somewhat. Antoine Semenyo scored the goal for the Cherries just after the hour mark after a rapid and efficient break, with David Brooks putting in a brilliant ball from the left for his teammate to finish. It was a similar story just over 10 minutes later as Semenyo was the man to finish off a counter-attack again, stunning Anfield by putting Bournemouth level. The Reds were concerningly open through the middle of the pitch as the Cherries broke, with Ibrahima Konate unable to stop Semenyo on the edge of the penalty box and he fired beyond Alisson. Arne Slot's men were desperately pushing for a winner and eventually found it through substitute Chiesa who volleyed home a loose clearance inside the area on 88 minutes to delight the home fans. Mo Salah then rounded off the scoring in injury time, showing great fight and energy so late in the day to end the drama. It was an emotional evening at Anfield as tributes were paid to Diogo Jota before kick-off after his tragic death last month. More Trending While that was observed perfectly by the fans on Merseyside, there were awful scenes in the first half as Semenyo reported to the referee that he had been racially abused by a Liverpool supporter. The match was paused briefly as the referee spoke to both managers about the situation, with players on both sides showing support for the Bournemouth star. There was also controversy of a much less important kind on the field as Marcos Senesi was fortunate to avoid any punishment on 12 minutes as he appeared to handball and prevent Ekitike running in on goal from the halfway line. Champions Liverpool start with a win but Antoine Semenyo incident mars opener
Liverpool's defence of their Premier League title got off to an unconvincing start but the late 4-2 victory was soured by alleged racist abuse directed at Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo. The winger responded brilliantly with both the Cherries' goals as they came from two down as Andoni Iraola's side exposed the same defensive weaknesses Crystal Palace did in Sunday's Community Shield victory. But forgotten man Federico Chiesa, Liverpool's solitary signing last summer who has barely featured and whose future looked to be elsewhere, volleyed home his first league goal in the 88th minute before Mohamed Salah scored for the eighth time in nine opening-day fixtures. But that did not diminish what was hugely-deserved credit for Semenyo, who did not allow the first-half incident to throw him off his game, as he gave former team-mate and Liverpool's new left-back Milos Kerkez a torrid time. Liverpool had announced the £23million signing of 18-year-old Parma centre-back Giovanni Leoni before kick-off but it would be no surprise for this result to hasten the pursuit of Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi with Ibrahima Konate, in particular, looking particularly shaky. It had begun so well with another new signing Hugo Ekitike starting to pay back his £69million transfer fee with a first-half goal, having scored last weekend. But shortly afterwards referee Anthony Taylor halted play, calling Liverpool head coach Arne Slot and Iraola together with the fourth official Farai Hallam to tell them the Semenyo had reported a racist comment from a fan at the front of the Main Stand. It is also understood police visited the officials' dressing room at half-time. Within four minutes of the second half starting Cody Gakpo, via an Ekitike assist, doubled the lead but Liverpool were far from their best on a night when Anfield remembered former striker Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva after their deaths in a car crash last month. In the Kop there was a banner dedicated to Jota's family, who in the week Slot said he expected to be in attendance, which said 'Anfield will always be your home. You'll never walk alone', while Bournemouth fans brought their own which read 'Diogo Jota. 20 Together'. Perimeter hoardings read 'Rest in peace Diogo Jota and Andre Silva', and fans in the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand and the Kop held 'AS 30' and 'DJ 20′ mosaics during the minute's silence while Jota's song was sung at kick-off. Ekitike extended his own tribute by signalling a two and a zero – Jota's now-retired shirt number – with his fingers after his 37th minute goal. The France Under-21 international thought he had been denied by the season's first VAR controversy after just 14 minutes when Marcos Senesi appeared to flick the ball away on the halfway line but VAR ruled it was not a clear handball or the denial of a goalscoring opportunity. Ekitike then benefited from a more fortuitous touch off the defender, latching onto a mistake after his own miscontrol of Alexis Mac Allister's pass to run through and comfortably send Djordje Petrovic the wrong way. He then headed over before half-time but his assimilation into the role vacated by Jota and Darwin Nunez, sold to Al-Hilal, was evident as he laid on the return pass for Gakpo to glide past a couple of defenders and stroke past Petrovic. But when Slot replaced both full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, two of the four new signings making their debuts, Bournemouth clinically exploited the unfamiliarity of midfielder Wataru Endo playing at right-back. David Brooks raced down the left and Konate could not prevent him sending over a teasing, low cross which Semenyo cleverly finished. Slot made immediate changes, bringing on defender Joe Gomez despite just two days' training after three weeks out with injury, to allow Endo to move into midfield and club-record signing Florian Wirtz moving to a false nine for Ekitike. But when Salah, of all people, gave away possession on the edge of the opposition penalty area a fast four-on-two counter-attack saw Semenyo fire home, only for Chiesa, already a cult hero despite his lack of action, to be the saviour. Salah completed the scoring in added-time and was last to leave the pitch, with tears in his eyes, having stood applauding the Kop singing Jota's song.
