FIFA Club World Cup: Bayern hammer 10 past Auckland City, PSG ease past Atletico Madrid
Bayern Munich began their Club World Cup campaign in emphatic fashion with a ruthless 10-0 demolition of Auckland City on Sunday, as Jamal Musiala marked his return from injury with a brilliant second-half hat-trick in a commanding team display. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the sixth minute, heading home at the far post after a Joshua Kimmich corner. The Bundesliga champions then took full control with a three-goal burst in as many minutes, as Sacha Boey smashed in a low shot from a Coman pass in the 18th minute for his first goal for Bayern, Michael Olise added a third with a simple tap-in moments later and Coman netted his second in the 21st minute. Thomas Mueller then made it 5-0 just before the break, volleying in from close range after an Olise assist, and the French winger grabbed his second with a superb curling effort from outside the box. With a dominant lead at half-time, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany made several changes, including handing a senior debut to 17-year-old Lennart Karl. Substitute Musiala curled a trademark finish into the far corner in the 67th minute, before calmly converting a penalty he earned six minutes later and pouncing on a defensive blunder to score his third in the 84th. Mueller also completed his double by sealing the rout in the 89th minute, as Bayern recorded the biggest win in the history of men's Club World Cups. Despite the heavy defeat, Auckland coach Ivan Vicelich - who noted before the match that several of his players had to take time off from their day jobs - said he was proud of his team's effort. "To be proud of the players is what we're after. It's a dream coming from an amateur level to play in this environment," he said. "You can't hide on the field. (I'm) really proud, a lot of players put in a good amount and worked really hard." The 13-time OFC Champions League winners Auckland will face Benfica on Friday, while Bayern meet Argentine giants Boca Juniors on the same day in Group C action. Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain later beat fellow European heavyweights Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. PSG landed the first blow when Fabian Ruiz fired home from distance in the 19th minute as they showed no signs of rust in their first match since trouncing Inter Milan 5-0 to win their first Champions League title last month. PSG doubled their advantage just before halftime when an Antoine Griezmann miss led to a counter-attack that ended with Vitinha firing home under sunny skies in Southern California. The La Liga side appeared to have pulled one back when Julian Alvarez found the net in the 57th minute but it was overturned after a VAR review determined Koke had fouled Desire Doue in the leadup to the strike. Substitute Senny Mayulu added a third goal for PSG in the 87th minute to end any hopes of an Atletico Madrid comeback, while Lee Kang-in fired home a stoppage-time penalty to round off the scoring.

Cherki said: 'I didn't like it when Manchester United won the game against Lyon because I am a Lyon fan. 'Now I am waiting for the game to kill them. I just wanted to go to Manchester City .' READ MORE IN FOOTBALL Cherki was regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford during his early years – after making his Lyon debut at 16. But their stunning comeback in April – capped by Harry Maguire's 120th-minute winner – ended Cherki's hopes of signing off from his boyhood club with a trophy. Yet he hopes he can make up for that by winning the lot on the blue side of Manchester in the coming years. He was sold a vision by Pep Guardiola which convinced him he was making the right move. Most read in Football BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS Cherki added: 'When I spoke with Pep and he wanted me - he was very, very clear. That the system, the club, the city is very good.
