India's Adani denies sanctions evasion or Iran LPG trade after WSJ reports US probe
An Adani spokesperson called the report "baseless and mischievous" in a statement, adding: "We are not aware of any investigation by U.S. authorities on this subject."
The WSJ said it had found tankers travelling between the Gulf and billionaire Gautam Adani's Mundra port in western India exhibiting traits that experts say are common for ships evading sanctions.
It said the U.S. Justice Department was reviewing the activities of several LPG tankers used to ship cargoes to Adani Enterprises, the group's flagship entity, citing people familiar with the matter.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the report and the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Adani said it did not handle any cargo from Iran at its ports, as a matter of policy.
It said all its LPG trade, which accounts for 1.46% of Adani Enterprises' total revenue, was fully compliant with domestic and international laws, including U.S. sanctions regulations.
A shipment referred to by the WSJ was handled as a "routine commercial transaction" via third-party logistics partners and supported by documentation identifying Sohar, Oman, as the port of origin, Adani said.
U.S. President Donald Trump said in May that any party buying Iranian oil or petrochemical products would immediately be subject to secondary sanctions.
Last November, U.S. authorities indicted Adani and his nephew, Sagar Adani, on suspicion of paying bribes to secure power supply contracts and misleading U.S. investors during fund-raising in the United States.
Adani Group has denied the accusations and vowed to fight them.

'We feel scared': Elvish Yadav's father recounts gunfire outside Gurugram residence
After YouTuber and actor Elvish Yadav's Gurugram residence came under gunfire from unidentified men in the early hours of Sunday, Elvish's father, Ram Avtar Yadav, recounted the incident. "We heard a sound around 5.30 in the morning. When we came outside and looked, we saw that bullets had been fired here. Then we immediately checked the CCTV. We found that there were two people involved for sure, and probably a third one too. We informed the police. These people fired more than 15 rounds," said Ram. When asked about Elvish's whereabouts and his reaction to the gunfire incident at his house, Ram said that Elvish usually stays away from the Gurugram residence due to work. "Elvish is fine, I spoke to him. May God give wisdom to the people who did this. Naturally, we feel scared," added Ram Avtar. Unidentified men opened fire outside the residence of Elvish Yadav in Gurugram's Sector 57 on Sunday morning, Police said. US-India trade talks scheduled for August called off, source says
A planned visit by US trade negotiators to New Delhi from August 25-29 has been called off, a source said, delaying talks on a proposed trade agreement and dashing hopes of relief from additional US tariffs on Indian goods from August 27. The current round of negotiations for the proposed bilateral trade agreement is now likely to be deferred to another date that has yet to be decided, the source with direct knowledge of the matter said. The US embassy in New Delhi said it has no additional information on the trade and tariff talks, which are being handled by the United States Trade Representative (USTR). India's trade ministry did not immediately reply to a Reuters email seeking comments. Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods, citing New Delhi's continued imports of Russian oil in a move that sharply escalated tensions between the two nations. The new import tax, which will come into effect from August 27, will raise duties on some Indian exports to as high as 50 per cent — among the highest levied on any US trading partner. Trade talks between New Delhi and Washington collapsed after five rounds of negotiations over disagreement on opening India's vast farm and dairy sectors and stopping Russian oil purchases. India's Foreign Ministry has said the country is being unfairly singled out for buying Russian oil while the United States and European Union continue to purchase goods from Russia.
