Fentanyl trafficking investigation leads to seizure of two loaded guns
Police have arrested a 38-year-old man who they say was trafficking fentanyl and other illegal drugs throughout the City of Toronto.
Officers with the Toronto Police Drug Squad, with the assistance of the Toronto Police Emergency Task Force, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue area on Aug. 14.
Police say that the suspect was taken into custody at the time.
Police also seized a number of items from the property, including a loaded handgun, ammunition, a quantity of cocaine and a large amount of currency.
Police say that a second search of a motor vehicle then led to the seizure of another loaded gun, along with a quantity of fentanyl, crack cocaine and cocaine.
John Mensah, 38, of Toronto, has been charged with 20 offences, including possession of a loaded restricted firearm.
Police continue to investigate and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

Witnesses sharing video of alleged arson online should contact investigators, Richmond RCMP say

Firefighters extinguished the blaze. 'Our investigators are aware of footage circulating on social media,' said Cpl. Melissa Lui, in the news release. 'While we appreciate the concern being shown, we ask anyone who has video footage or information about this incident to contact police investigators directly. Sharing information with us will ensure it becomes part of the official investigation and helps hold those responsible accountable.' Those with information to share should call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 25-26618, police said. Tips can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

Suspected methamphetamine, cocaine seized in northern Ont. drug bust

The accused was remanded into custody after her arrest; her next bail hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19. SIU discontinues investigation into Woodstock arrest

The incident took place in the evening on April 25 when a man was arrested by Woodstock police near Dundas and Peel Streets. A struggle reportedly took place during the arrest, leading to the man being taken to the ground, physically restrained, and handcuffed. When in a jail cell, the SIU said the man complained his ribs were hurting. He was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a rib fracture. Deputy Director of the SIU, Stacey O'Brien said she was satisfied the investigation should be discontinued based on preliminary inquiries. After the man said he would give a statement to the SIU and making arrangements on more than one occasion for this to take place, efforts were unsuccessful. Due to no statement, there is insufficient evidence for an investigation to take place.
