Footy star Charlie Coomben finally comes clean about his romance with his ex-teammate's SISTER Liv Taylor after keeping it a secret

Daily Mail20-05-2025

It took one almighty 'stitch up' to get it out of him, but North Melbourne big man Charlie Coomben has finally 'hard launched' his new relationship - with the sister of a former teammate.
The Kangaroos ruck has revealed that his new partner is glamourous Pilates instructor Liv Taylor, who is the sister of former North Melbourne star Curtis Taylor.
The couple have been dating for about five months, but apart from a couple of sneaky snaps on Taylor's Instagram, they have never made it social media official.
Coomben has previously admitted to dating Taylor on his 200 Plus podcast, but did reveal names or any other details.
'I've found myself a lovely girlfriend … I don't have to validate my relationship in the eyes of other people,' Comben said at the time.
But he was boxed into a corner on Nova radio's Jase & Lauren show last week, where the Kangaroos big man was forced to reveal all.
Coomben had appeared on Jase & Lauren previously, but Lauren had been away that day. So they brought him back - where he got more than he bargained for.
'These two [Jason and sports journalist Clint Stanaway] have not stopped raving about you since you were last on our show,' Lauren said.
'Did you have as much fun with them as they had with you?'
'It was good fun, it was a little bit of a stitch up,' Coomben replied.
'I had to do a shout out to my beautiful girlfriend Liv with the beautiful hair.'
Lauren then revealed they had the audio of the previous time he had been on the show.
'What do you love about her Charlie?' Jason asked.
'Shout out to Liv, I love her hair, eyes, beautiful personality,' Coomben replied.
'What's her hair like?' Jason asked.
'It's brunette, nice, brown, long, it's great,' Coomben said awkwardly while laughing.
Lauren said: 'Any woman would love to hear their partner talk about them like that.'
'I'm glad,' Coomben said.
'It got me some brownie points, it really did.'
Coomben then revealed she was actually at the studio, but he left her waiting out in the car.
'You left her in the car?' shocked host Jason asked.
'I want to bring her in, I still haven't posted anything yet [to Instagram],' Coomben said. 'I'm going to get around to it.'
Jason asked: 'Oh she's not on the [Instagram] grid yet? Can we bring her in?'
Taylor was then brought in to face the music and do a hard launch of their relationship.
'We've been together about five months,' Coomben said as his girlfriend made her way from the car into the studio.
'It's all going really well and we're really happy.'
Clint and Coomben then proceeded to talk football while they were waiting for Taylor to arrive in the studio.
The North Melbourne star even entertained the listeners with an acoustic guitar cover of a Tears for Fears classic. And then Liv arrived in the studio to raucous applause.
'Do you want to kill your boyfriend right now?' Lauren joked.
'I was actually at a cafe around the corner and I just got [the show] on in time, and I was like 'he's not, is he?',' Liv said. 'I already got stitched up the last time he came on, with a love letter.'
They all pointed out that Coomben was right, she did have lovely hair.
'The amount of text messages I got after that, all I got from that was I have nice eyes and long hair,' she laughed.
Liv said not being 'Instagram official' had not phased her.
'Everyone else keeps getting stuck into me about it, especially [Essendon star] Sam Draper on the podcast,' she said.
She was then asked to dig up the dirt on her AFL star boyfriend.
'Charlie's personality, he gets quite obsessive with things,' she said.
'So at the minute it's hiking. So every single night he sits there and watches YouTube and just watches videos on this Russell Coight type person.
'I think at the minute he's got three different sleeping bags, a light one, a medium one and a heavy one.
'So Charlie is the definition of all the gear, no idea.'

Aussie Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright reveals her son's stunning sixth-sense premonition about her new pregnancy

Australian Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright has bizarrely revealed her son Flow 'knew she was pregnant before she did' as she announced she is expecting her third child. Bright, 38, is best known for snaring gold in the women's halfpipe snowboarding at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Now a mother of two boys, the decorated snowboarder is busily preparing for baby number three. 'The boys are already so in love,' she posted via Instagram on Wednesday. 'We are keeping the gender a surprise until birth, but I'm feeling a third boy.' Next was Flow Bright's left-field premonition. Bright snared gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver when competing in the women's halfpipe competition (pictured, in action) 'Fun fact: Flow (eldest son) knew I was pregnant before I actually was,' the post continued. 'A whole month before I conceived, he was telling people I had a baby in my belly. 'Maybe he already knows who this little soul is. 'Every night, Halo (second child) falls asleep holding my belly - and every morning, he wakes up and kisses it. 'Our hearts are expanding, and so is our family. 'So grateful for this growing love.' In 2021, Bright turned heads after sharing a photo showing her breastfeeding her 10-month-old son while performing a headstand. The photo, posted to Facebook, sparked a fierce online debate - and the Olympic champion later expressed her regret at the polarising image. At the time, the breastfeeding photo attracted thousands of comments, including one that read 'now that's a balanced meal'. Another said: 'Breastfeed anywhere, anytime', while a third commentator wrote 'What an awesome mama bear. Love her.' But Bright was also criticised, with one commenting: 'I'm not saying it's not beautiful. 'Breastfeeding is between a mum and a child. This is way too much. It's not about handstands and seeing how that child could actually latch on for likes.' 'Reading some of the comments make me sad,' Bright later wrote in an Instagram story. 'In my world, mother's should be each other's cheerleaders (it is hard enough). 'Embrace our quirkiness and finding the joy in every sh***y thing that is motherhood. 'We all do it differently, it is not wrong or right. Motherhood is pure. 'I only now consider myself a wonder woman because I have joined the sacred club with you. Nothing but respect to all mothers.'

Family-run chippy 'over the moon' to be in running for best takeaway

Steven Simpson, who owns the chips alongside his wife Victoria, says they were 'honoured' to be nominated and would be 'over the moon' to win. He told the Glasgow Times 'It's a credit to the staff who do a lot of hard work behind the scenes. 'It's not just a case of turning up, there's a lot of preparation, getting the best fish, best potatoes, and so it's good the hard works paid off. 'I think now a lot of people expect restaurant standard from takeaways and I think we're almost there and offering that.' Owners Steven Simpson (2nd from right) and wife Victoria pictured with colleagues, from left- Alex Day and Philip Raeside (Image: Colin Mearns, Newsquest) The 37-year-old continued: 'We offer a good product, and we do special offers as well so there's a lot of value there too. 'We have fresh haddock, and we offer different types of fish as well like coley or monkfish which are more sustainable. 'We can trace potatoes and fish all the way back to the farmer, the lorry, the boat... you name it, and we share that with our customers as well. 'Some think it's pointless but some love it.' The Kraken Chippy opened in 2017 and is the first business owned by Steven and Victoria, 36, who both have more than two decades of experience in fish and chips. Steven says the Covid-19 pandemic was a particularly scary time for the business, but they got through it with the support of the local community. They handed out hundreds of free meals to say thank you. (Image: Colin Mearns, Newsquest) Steven said: 'We pushed through and we had the support of the community, they rallied together so we wanted to give something back. 'We gave the elderly free meals and delivered to anyone that was stuck indoors. 'Folk turned up top help deliver the meals and just from then on, it's been a great community, and we're privileged to be a part of it. 'During Covid everyone had to keep their distance but that brought the community together and showed a spirit to get through it.' A menu favourite at the Kraken Chippy is the jumbo fish supper which has two six-ounce fresh haddock fillets with chips. Steven added: 'I think if you buy a good product and you do it well and you give back to the community then that's the best way forward.'
