Demanding coach Glo Hampton puts students through their paces in weekly contests
Child dancers fiercely competed to impress hard-to-please teacher Abby Lee Miller (top) and claim their spot at the top of her infamous points pyramid.
This first series made superstars of students like Jojo Siwa and Maddie Ziegler.
It also thrust the super-protective mums into the spotlight as they schemed against each other and rowed with Abby, who ruled her dance studio with an iron fist.
Expect more twists, turns, tempers and dazzling performances in Dance Moms: A New Era, with nine episodes now streaming on Channel 4.
Abby Lee's replacement Glo Hampton battles to take her young charges and her dance school Studio Bleu in Virginia, USA, to the next level – entering them for national competitions each week.
Rivalries have sprung up right from the start. In the first episode, one of the students, 13-year-old dance prodigy Audrey, is meant to help fellow student Mina nail some tricky moves during a lunch break.
Instead she chooses TikTok over teamwork, scrolling on her phone instead of supporting Mina, eight – which has the mums complaining.
Audrey's decision goes down especially badly with Mina's mum, Min – cue the fireworks!
Min and the other mums waste no time tearing into Audrey's mother, Tammi, questioning her daughter's leadership ability.
But Audrey and Tammi fight back, telling the mums that a child shouldn't be shouldering responsibility for the rest of the team.
So tension is already bubbling, and the drama is just getting started!
As fans celebrate the excitement of this new chapter, we look back at some of the unforgettable moments from the original Dance Moms that thrilled millions.
Ice scream
When the drama gets too much, sometimes you just need to escape.
And for coach Abby Lee Miller, that meant going straight to a police station.
After rival dance studio owner Tammy Croftcheck confronted her for being on her phone during a student's competition performance, Abby decided she'd had enough.
In an inevitably dramatic exit, she declared: 'I'm gonna go to Baskin Robbins!'
But ice cream wasn't on the menu. Instead Abby went to the police, and afterwards claimed she'd filed a complaint against Tammy.
Don't bow down
Fans adore JoJo Siwa for her high-energy pop songs and her loved-up romance with reality hunk Chris Hughes. But let's not forget where it all started – Dance Moms!
She burst onto the scene with her killer dance moves, glittery outfits and sharp comebacks.
Aged just 11, she even faced off against the queen of drama herself, Abby Lee Miller.
Abby clashed with JoJo and her mum, Jessalyn, after JoJo was ranked low on the pyramid for scoring fifth place in that week's competition.
Abby blamed the position on JoJo not getting into her possessed character enough as JoJo refused to watch a scary movie to avoid nightmares.
Jessalyn continued to defend JoJo but things escalated when Abby removed JoJo from the pyramid, declaring she 'deserves nothing' and criticising her tears saying, 'You can't stand there and cry.'
JoJo, never one to back down, hit back with her iconic line: 'If you yell at me, I'm gonna cry,' which resulted in her being kicked out of the dance studio.
However, after a quick chat with her mum, JoJo showed her maturity by returning to apologise, proving she was the bigger person in the end. Classic JoJo drama with a touch of heart!
Dressing room clash
The first Dance Moms was packed with explosive moments, but Season 4, Episode 7 – Big Trouble in the Big Apple – delivered one of the most jaw-dropping showdowns.
Dance mom Kelly Hyland felt Abby showed favouritism towards other dancers instead of her daughters Brooke and Paig.
So during a competition in New York, she decided to tackle the issue head on with Abby in the dressing room.
Things quickly spiralled out of control during the explosive clash. Kelly pointed her finger in Abby's face, and the coach started making biting gestures.
Next Kelly pulled Abby's hair, and the girl dancers were left in tears. Afterwards Kelly and her daughters quit the show for good.
Amazing moves
The drama was next level, but Dance Moms also gave us plenty of dazzling performances that amazed fans.
Among them was Maddie Ziegler's unforgettable contemporary solo, Cry, which helped catapult her to stardom and made her a household name.
A tearjerking moment came with JoJo Siwa's stunning dance, Faith Is All I Need, a heartfelt tribute to her grandmother Kathy, who had cancer.
These standout dances prove it wasn't just the drama keeping us hooked – the talent was right up there too!

Mum buys mystery bag from Greggs for £3.15 and contents inside leave her floored
Alice Nash's Too Good To Go bag has left social media users stunned as the mum-of-two picked up £33 worth of Greggs goodies for just £3.15 through the food waste app A mum who bought a mystery bag from Greggs has been stunned by the contents of her purchase. The Too Good To Go food bag, which offers discounted food items in a bundle bag, featured a fantastic haul of food for Alice Nash. The mum managed to grab £33 worth of Greggs food items for just £3.15, and broke down what she had received from the purchase. Alice, from Wiltshire, only just started using the Too Good To Go app and nothing could have prepared her for the impressive haul she got from the popular pastry chain. The bag she received was crammed full of sweet treats and savoury snacks. A total of 14 items were put in the mystery bag, with Alice, 28, sharing her haul on social media. The collection of items included three custard slices, a Margherita pizza slice, a box of two Yum Yums, a Chelsea bun, a Southern fried chicken baguette, a cheese and ham toastie, a tuna cucumber sandwich, a cheese Ploughman's roll, a steak bake, a veggie bake, a cheese, beans and sausage bake and a BLT sandwich. Mum-of-two Alice and partner Kyle had only wanted a light bite after their big lunch but were left with far more than they bargained for upon collecting their order. Speaking to What's the Jam, Alice said: "It's definitely the best bag we've received out of all the places we've purchased from, as there was such a variety. "I have been told this is a lot more than anyone normally gets since I posted my TikTok, so I know we got very lucky. My partner Kyle picked it up and immediately rang me and said he couldn't believe how much food there was. 'It was our first time getting a Greggs bag, and we didn't know what to expect. We thought we'd get maybe a sandwich and a bake – not a whole feast." Her food haul was shared to TikTok, where members of the public shared their envy after seeing the "best bag" from Too Good To Go. Others were left in disbelief, saying that there is "not supposed to be that much" in one bag. Another added: "You don't get all that in one bag - you must have bought four bags." Alice had the tuna sandwich, her daughter went for the toastie, and her partner tucked into a sandwich and one of the bakes. The rest was shared out the next day, including a delivery to her dad at work, who was more than happy to help finish it all off. Alice said: 'My daughter loves the surprise element to the bags, so we like to buy them, but always make sure it's from a place we know we will eat from and make use of the items. 'My dad was very happy when my partner turned up with lunch ready for them at work. Nothing went to waste, and it was all gone within two days. It felt like winning the Too Good To Go lottery. "We'll definitely be getting another Greggs bag – but I don't think we'll ever top this one."

Writing against the black backdrop, Olivia, 34, penned: 'That's why we pay through the nose for private security. 'On sight in 2 minutes with dog team & the incredible nw police force not far behind.' Now, the Love Island star has appeared in a TikTok video, and shared more details about what happened. She shared a look inside her busy day, and then while sat in the back of a cab Olivia said: 'So obviously I can't go into too much detail because it's an open investigation now. 'But some scumbags basically smashed a second floor window, went in and the security team got the notification within like 30 seconds and they were there within two minutes with dogs.' Olivia added: 'The little scumbags ran off. They got some stuff but they didn't get what they came for, and now I have to just show face because it's a really important work day and I'm feeling a bit tired and a little bit emosh, but yeah, brave face.' The star was seen crying in one clip during her busy day, which saw her go from one appointment to another, and falling asleep in the back of a taxi. Olivia Attwood reveals she's landed huge ITV role on This Morning after Loose Women success It comes after the Love Island star turned TV presenter justified her inclusion in This Morning's line-up of summer presenters, saying: "I've put the hard work in". The Love Island favourite, who has built a successful career fronting documentaries and as a Loose Women panellist, is one of a number of stars filling in for regular hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard over the summer break. Though she's not the first reality star to host the show, with fellow summer star and X Factor icon Rylan Clark having already proven a dab hand on the set, Olivia's villa background hasn't gone down well with some traditionalists who have gone so far as to say they'll "definitely stop watching'. But Olivia, 34, is confident in her abilities and feels she's earned her stripes to become ITV's new golden girl. She exclusively told The Sun: "Those who know me understand the hard work I've put in to get where I am today. "I'm forever grateful to Love Island for being the springboard to my career, but I'm excited to show there's so much more to me beyond the villa." She continued: "It's been a lot of hard work, but I've always stayed focused on my goals and believed in myself and I'm very thankful for ITV in believing me." As someone who grew up watching the show as a child, she knows what it's about and the position it has in the national consciousness. She said: "When I got the gig, I was over the moon! I grew up watching the show, and to be a part of it feels like such a huge achievement!"
