Batting first, Surrey posted 193 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Dom Sibley anchored the innings with a composed 70 off 46 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Will Jacks contributed a quick 41 from 24 deliveries, helping to set up a strong total. Hampshire's Scott Currie was the most effective bowler for the home side, finishing with 2 for 36 in four overs, while Benny Howell picked up 1 for 24 from three overs.
In response, Hampshire were bowled out for 124 in 17.5 overs, falling well short of the 194-run target. Lhuan-dre Pretorius top-scored with 28 from 19 balls, and Joe Weatherley added 27 off 19, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled under pressure.
Nathan Smith led Surrey's bowling attack with figures of 3 for 18 in 2.5 overs, including the final wicket of John Turner, who was caught by Chris Jordan for 4. Jordan also took 2 for 17 from his full four overs. Mitchell Santner and Reece Topley each claimed two wickets as well.

"They got an above-par score. It is tricky when you are chasing a big total, and then you lose three wickets in a row at the back end of the powerplay. The new guys have to take chances, and the run rate is increasing. When it reaches beyond 12 runs an over, it becomes difficult," Adi Birrell, Hampshire head coach said.

Six-Time Pro Bowl Ex NFLer Says Everyone Should Still Fear Chiefs
Six-Time Pro Bowl Ex NFLer Says Everyone Should Still Fear Chiefs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to "threepeat" last season while suffering one of their worst regular seasons statistically in recent memory. Advertisement But with Andy Reid at the helm and Patrick Mahomes under center, should teams be overlooking the Chiefs next season? Some so-called experts have written them off, declaring, "The dynasty is over." But is it? Former NFL running back and six-time Pro Bowler LeSean McCoy doesn't think so, and proclaimed that every team should still fear Kansas City. "Yes, you should be worried," said McCoy. "What the Chiefs do is go to the Super Bowl. Last season, they were up for a three-peat, and guess what, that was not even their best season. They did not play great, and they were still up for a three-peat. The question is, do we fear the Chiefs' offense?" Advertisement "Now, some questions are that if Patrick Mahomes is still the best player in the league? Yes, at his worst, the AFC Championship game. At his best, Super Bowl Champ. They are only going to get better ... For playing for Andy Reid for so long and knowing him, playing with Mahomes and Travis, they feed off these types of things. Because they know that they are that good. Yes, I still fear the Chiefs." Yes, the so-called "dynasty" took a hit with the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February, but there's a reason no team has ever won three Super Bowls in a row and very few have won two consecutive: it's really hard. The loss doesn't sully any status of legend that Reid and Mahomes and the team have built prior to 2024, but instead, will solidify it if they can return to the mountain in 2025. 'Hollywood' Brown 'Grateful' For Second Chiefs Chance
'Hollywood' Brown 'Grateful' For Second Chiefs Chance originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown is still looking to prove himself with the defending AFC champs. Advertisement After last season, which saw Brown only hit the field in Week 16 thanks to a shoulder injury suffered in preseason, the speedy receiver, when he did return, didn't have the impact he wanted. Given that he was on a one-year deal, Brown could have been forgiven for thinking he would be on another team in 2025, but the Chiefs came calling. And the chance to rectify his 2024 season landed at his feet. 'I was grateful for the opportunity,' Brown said. 'For them to even allow me to come back and allow me to help the team, so just build off of that and build off the experience.' Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise 'Hollywood' Brown (5) runs drills during training Medley-USA TODAY Sports via Imagn Images Posting just 141 yards from 14 receptions in five games isn't the return Brown would have wanted, but he didn't have the time to build on-field chemistry with Patrick Mahomes and the rest of his teammates. Advertisement He will hopefully get that chance at minicamp and then training camp before hitting the 2025 season ready to put last year's failures behind him. Of course, that is all up to the football gods, as Brown went through all of the offseason training, only to be struck down in the Chiefs' preseason games. So, we imagine he will be a little wary this time around. While injuries happen in football, we don't think Brown can afford to be sidelined for a significant period, as he was last season. If the Chiefs are to avenge their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown will have to play a large role for Andy Reid. Advertisement He's got his chance; now he has to make the most of it. Two Key Positions To Determine Chiefs' Success In 2025
Two Key Positions To Determine Chiefs' Success In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Kansas City Chiefs have seen a lot of people jump off their bandwagon in 2025, with the reworked offensive line a big reason why. Advertisement Star guard Joe Thuney is now a Chicago Bear, career backup Jaylon Moore is the starter at left tackle, and Kingsley Suamataia is the new left guard after failing to take his chance at tackle last season. Plus, rookie Josh Simmons, Kansas City's first-round draft pick, is on the comeback trail from a nasty knee injury. Also, there is Jawaan Taylor at right tackle, who, as we know, has had up-and-down form over the past couple of seasons with a combined 28 penalties. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the protection of Patrick Mahomes, and according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Chiefs' 2025 season rests squarely on the offensive line. "So much to me depends on those two tackle positions," Breer said. "What does Jawaan Taylor look like coming back? I think eventually the plan is to have Josh Simmons at left tackle and Jaylon Moore at right tackle, that'd be my guess in 2026. But can you get a good year out of Jawaan Taylor? Can you get anything out of Simmons coming off of a really bad injury in year one? What does Jaylon Moore look like at left tackle? I think those are the things that are going to determine how far this team goes." Chiefs Ohio State OL Josh Simmons at 32By Tony Fisher We saw in the Super Bowl how easily a ferocious Philadelphia Eagles pass rush ran through the offensive line. Does the signing of Moore, the drafting of Simmons, and Suamataia to left guard change that? Advertisement The Chiefs sure hope so. With a division that is set to be improved, and the Chiefs having a host of question marks over them entering the year, they will have to do something they haven't had to do in the Mahomes era - prove people wrong. Does everything fall on the offensive line in 2025? Given how the season ended for Kansas City last year, that is a fair assumption. Which makes getting this offensive line firing perhaps the No. 1 priority for the Chiefs this offseason.
