Two-week capacity building programme concludes at Central University of Karnataka
He was speaking at the valedictory session of the two-week capacity building programme on research methodology for young teachers, organised by the Department of Education, CUK, and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, on Friday.
Mr. Satyanarayana said that the university has made significant investments in building research infrastructure, including laboratory and library development, and in creating a research ecosystem on campus.
'Whatever you have learnt here should be taken back to your classrooms and used to mentor future researchers. The development of any nation depends on its capacity for research and innovation. If we are to achieve the goal of 'Viksit Bharat,' we must ensure that the benefits of quality research reach the last person in society,' he added.
Programme director G.R. Angadi said the aim of the programme was to enhance the research skills of young faculty members.
'The training covered key areas such as research methodology, publication strategies, research ethics, quantitative and qualitative tools, and field-based educational practices, offering a comprehensive blend of theory and practical learning,' he said.
Basavaraj Benni from the Department of Economics, Bangalore University, delivered a special lecture on qualitative research techniques.
The two-week programme saw participation from young teachers across different parts of the country.

Today's graduates should mentor the next generation: Jindal
Tirupati: Chairmanof the IIT Tirupati Board of Governors and head of the JSW Group Sajjan Jindal, called on the latest batch of IIT Tirupati graduates to remember their roots and give back to the institution as they advance in their careers. Speaking at the institute's 7th convocation on Sunday, Jindal said that giving back doesn't always mean financial contributions – it can also be in the form of time, ideas, mentorship, or support. 'As alumni, it is your responsibility to uplift the next generation of students,' he said. Jindal also highlighted the national vision of Viksit Bharat, which aims to transform India into a developed economy. Achieving this, he said, requires a holistic approach that combines both economic progress and social development and most importantly, the sustained dedication of every citizen. The chief guest for the event, Lakshmi Narayanan, co-founder of Cognizant Technologies and chancellor of KREA University, advised the graduates to remain open to diverse perspectives and to always stand up for what is right. He encouraged them to stay curious, creative, and critical in their thinking, qualities that he said would serve them well both professionally and personally. 'Exercise your faith and keep exploring your doubts until faith takes their place,' he added. IIT Tirupati director Prof K N Satyanarayana shared the institute's progress since its inception and outlined its plans for the future. He announced that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase B of the campus expansion had recently been approved by the Cabinet. Under this phase, the student capacity is expected to grow to 2,685 by the 2028-29 academic year. The government has sanctioned Rs 2,313 crore for the project, with tenders set to be invited by the end of 2025. At the convocation, 417 degrees were awarded across various programmes: 212 BTech, 91 MTech, 53 MSc, 16 Master of Public Policy (MPP), 13 MS (Research), 28 PhDs, along with dual degrees, a diploma, and a certificate in Foundations in Engineering Sciences. Eighteen students received medals and prizes for their academic and extracurricular achievements. Among the awardees, Arvind Srinivasan stood out by winning the President's Gold Medal for the best academic performance among the 2025 BTech graduates. Megavarshini was awarded the Governor's Prize for her all-round excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. Other top performers in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were also recognised.

Be curious, creative and critical in thinking, Cognizant co-founder tells IIT graduates
Lakshmi Narayanan, co-founder of Cognizant and Chancellor of KREA University, called upon young graduates to nurture curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking as they step into the next phase of life. Speaking at the seventh convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati (IIT-T) on Sunday, he emphasised the importance of being unique and different from the rest. 'Always pay attention to diverse perspectives, lend a hand to those in need and speak up for what is right. Write your own stories and be the heroes of those stories,' he advised the graduating students. To inspire the young audience, Mr. Narayanan cited the example of Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a skilled carpenter who built the world-renowned Lego brand by taking the path less travelled. JSW Group Chairman Sajjan Jindal, also Chairman of IIT-T's Board of Governors, highlighted India's major policy thrusts in technology and service sectors. He underscored the importance of the 'Viksit Bharat' vision of transforming India into a developed nation, achievable only through the collective dedication and perseverance of all citizens. Lokesh tells CAs to be acquainted and updated with their subject
IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh on Saturday called upon the chartered accountants (CA) to be fully acquainted and updated with their subject and gear up to handle advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). He also appreciated the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for being the first in the world to implement forensic accounting standards. Addressing a mega student meet of the ICAI titled 'Spoorthi'in Guntur, Mr. Lokesh said that despite completing 76 years, the institute remained an accounting powerhouse and has been a major strength of the Indian financial system. He observed that the importance of CA could be understood from the fact that every budget-approved file required an auditor's seal, and added they were drivers of the country's economic growth. The State government has always valued the inputs given by the ICAI on various matters of financial administration and would keep consulting it for policymaking, he added. Mr. Lokesh insisted that the CA play a significant role in achieving the Prime Minister's vision of Viksit Bharat, which aims to make India a $30 trillion economy by 2047. He stated that in today's world, not only IQ but technology quotient (TQ) was also essential to stay ahead. 'Let us all work together to steer India and Andhra Pradesh towards progress.
