When his career first started, safety Antoine Winfield Jr. quickly became one of the best players in the league for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Multiple Pro Bowls, and All-Pro nod, and a Super Bowl ring were just some of the accolades that the former Minnesota product earned.

If the first four seasons of his career were amogn the best for a safety during that span, the 2024 season was anything but.
Winfield suffered multiple injuries that cost him eight games, and was ineffective in the games he did play due to his injury. He suffered through the worst season of his career.
Instead of panicking, though, the Buccaneers have trust that the veteram will bounce back.
Pro Football Focus agrees with their opinion. They listed Winfield as an easy bounce-back candidate for the 2025 season.
'Tampa Bay struggled to defend the middle of the field in 2024, due in part to injuries and a dip in production from star safety Antoine Winfield Jr", PFF said. "He posted a career-low 50.8 coverage grade and, for the first time in his career, failed to record an interception.'

Winfield's struggles were a key reason why the Buccaneers defense suffered through one of their worst years in recent memory. They had the worst pass defense, and struggled to get after the passer consistently.
That can change if Winfield id at 100%.
And if he can have a resurgence in 2025, the Buccaneers defense should get back to title contention realtively quickly.

After surprisingly announcing his retirement in early May after 11 NFL seasons and 2 with New Orleans, Carr's retirement became official on June 2. Mostly silent since his announcement, Carr recently opened up about the situation that led to his decision. David Rumsey of Front Office Sports interviewed Carr earlier this week. In doing so, the 34-year-old former quarterback tried to shed some enlightenment into his decision to step away. ''That part was tough (leaving behind the money) because I didn't want to have surgery and just sit there and—it sounds crazy but—just take the Saints money. I wouldn't have been able to play if I had the surgery,' Carr said. 'And then if I tried to play with it, I wasn't near 100%, and so that doesn't help them, either. I just felt like it was the right thing to do for myself and for the team. I never played just for the money. I had a whole bunch of people tell me how crazy I was, and 'Man, I would never have done that.' That's all cool, but I've gained all these things that the world has to offer, and it doesn't really do anything for your heart. I knew my heart was at peace, and that's really all that mattered.' The surgery would have likely caused him to miss the 2025-26 season. Advertisement There have been conflicting reports about when Carr injured his shoulder. Some reports claim that he's been dealing with the issue since leaving a loss to the Green Bay Packers early in the 2023 campaign. Carr has insisted that he injured it last last season against the New York Giants. In that Week 14 game, Carr also suffered a broken wrist that would end his season. It wasn't until after those attempts resulted in no interest that Carr announced his retirement. How's everything? You still feel comfortable with the decision?' And I sent him a picture of me on the beach with my two kids playing. And I said, 'This beats an OTA any day.' He was with the Raiders for nine seasons before his release, then joining the New Orleans Saints. Carr had a 65.1% career completion percentage with 41,245 passing yards, 257 touchdowns, and 112 interceptions over his 11 seasons. In two years and 27 starts with the Saints, Carr completed 68.2% of his throws for 6,023 yards and 40 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. Whether you believe Carr's reasoning for retirement is irrelevant. He is no longer with the Saints and saved the franchise several million dollars in leaving. World Cup host city organizers acknowledge immigration crackdown may impact next year's tournament
NEW YORK -- Philadelphia's host city executive for the 2026 World Cup says organizers accept that an immigration crackdown by President Donald Trump's administration may be among the outside events that impact next year's tournament. "There are certainly things that are happening at the national level, the international level, there are going to be geopolitical issues that we don't even know right now that are going affect the tournament next year, so we recognize that we're planning within uncertainty,' Meg Kane said Monday at a gathering of the 11 U.S. host city leaders, one year and two days ahead of the tournament opener. The World Cup will be played at 16 stadiums in the U.S., Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19 next year, a tournament expanded to 48 nations and 104 games. All matches from the quarterfinals on will be in the U.S., with the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. 'Whether it's the Olympics, whether it's a World Cup, whether it's a Super Bowl, you name it, anytime you've got a major international sporting event, geopolitics is going to have a role,' said Alex Vasry, CEO of the New York/New Jersey host committee. Kane said the host committees must adapt to decisions made by others. 'One of the things that I think we all recognize is that we have to be really good at operating within that uncertainty,' Kane said. 'I think for each of our cities, we want to be prepared to make any person that is coming and makes the decision to come to the United States or come to this World Cup feel that they are welcome. We do not play a role necessarily in what is happening in terms of the decisions that are made.' Trump's travel ban on citizens from 12 countries exempted athletes, coaches, staff and relatives while not mentioning fans. 'We allow for FIFA to continue having constructive conversations with the administrations around visas, around workforce, around tourism,' Kane said. She said local police 'have done an extensive review of the after-action reports related to that in collaboration with the stadium and so all of the things that happened are in fact being reviewed and addressed and I can assure you that everything is being done within our power to make sure that the appropriate measures are being placed, the appropriate perimeters.'

It will also be an easier situation for Philly to dump George's four-year, $212 million maximum contract. The veteran forward will be 36 years old by the time he finishes the third year of his deal. Additionally, the nine-time All-Star's recent injury woes won't be helpful for the Sixers in the future.
