In a heartfelt Facebook post in conjunction with the 2025 Warriors' Day celebration, Fadillah said that July 31 serves as a manifestation of the nation's highest respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by members of the security and defence forces.
"We will never forget the blood, sweat, and lives that were sacrificed to ensure our homeland remains independent, sovereign, and peaceful.
"From the fight against colonialism and the communist insurgency, to peacekeeping missions both domestically and abroad, every chapter in our history is marked by the extraordinary courage of our national heroes," he said.
Fadillah acknowledged that the sacrifices of these brave individuals have laid the foundation for the peace and prosperity enjoyed by Malaysians today.
He also expressed gratitude to those who are still serving, and called on them to continue to serve with integrity, responsibility, and patriotism.
"We would not be where we are today, an independent and sovereign nation, without the fighting spirit, discipline, and loyalty of our national heroes. Thank you to all our heroes. Malaysia stands strong because of your sacrifices.
"For those who have passed on, our prayers are always with them. They fought with honesty and devotion for their country. May the spirit of patriotism and love for Malaysia continue to flourish in the hearts of all Malaysians,' he added. - Bernama

Malaysia condemns Israeli Zionist regime's Gaza takeover plan

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has condemned the Israeli Zionist regime's decision to launch a full military takeover of Gaza. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry described the move as a calculated violation of international law. The ministry stated that this action aims to permanently occupy Palestinian lands, disregarding human rights and justice. 'After 22 months of relentless bombings and siege, this move threatens the two-state solution,' the ministry said. The statement warned that Israel's actions could end the peace process and deny Palestinians their right to self-determination. Malaysia urged all nations to reject Israel's apartheid policies and recognise Palestine based on pre-1967 borders. The country also called for East Jerusalem to be recognised as the capital of Palestine. Immediate actions must ensure a permanent ceasefire and Israeli forces' withdrawal from Gaza, the statement added. Malaysia demanded an end to the blockade on humanitarian aid and full UN membership for Palestine. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed Malaysia's firm stance on defending Palestinian rights. He emphasised Malaysia's commitment through international advocacy and collaboration with global leaders. - Bernama

Govt mulls foreign investor rule shift to boost MSMEs

THE government is mulling the possibility of enhancing localisation requirements for foreign investors for the benefit of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Liew Chin Tong said this is part of efforts to create a resilient ecosystem that allows local companies to reap spillover benefits and develop into technology-based multinational corporations (MNCs). 'To ensure investments lead to meaningful gains such as quality jobs for Malaysians and the development of local technology ecosystems, Miti and the Finance Ministry will introduce the New Investment Incentive Framework (NIIF) in the third quarter of this year,' he said. Liew said the government is committed to transforming Malaysia's role in global supply chains by strengthening national resilience and nurturing homegrown tech firms in strategic sectors such as semiconductors. 'There must be a mindset shift. For too long, MSMEs have been seen only as support players for foreign MNCs. 'The new thinking emphasises the potential of Malaysian firms to become global technology-based MNCs,' he said. Liew added that the government is determined to lead the shift from being a hub for 'Made in Malaysia' outsourced production to 'Made by Malaysia' technological innovation. He pointed to the RM25bil GEAR-uP programme under the Finance Ministry, which aims to catalyse high-growth, high-value sectors such as semiconductors and energy transition, while also empowering marginalised communities and nurturing local talent. On the US trade policy, Liew described the reduced 19% retaliatory tariff rate on Malaysia as a success, saying Malaysia had engaged in 'complex and time-sensitive' negotiations to secure the agreed rate. Malaysia's exports to the United States accounted for 13.2% of the country's total exports in 2024, which amounted to RM1.508 trillion, he added. To mitigate the effects of the US tariffs, he said Miti and its agency Matrade are working to diversify Malaysia's export markets. This includes exploring non-traditional destinations and strengthening the export network to fast-growing emerging markets such as Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Asean.

Audit Mechanism For Additional Water Tariff Adjustments To Be Key Focus In Dewan Rakyat Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The monitoring and audit mechanism for the additional revenue from water tariff adjustments, which was promised by state water operators for the purpose of repairing and developing water supply infrastructure, will be a key focus of today's Dewan Rakyat sitting. According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, the question is being raised by Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) to the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation during Minister's Question Time. Mohd Isam also wants to know what action will be taken against operators who fail to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) after receiving the benefits of the tariff adjustment. During the same session, Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) will ask the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry to state the steps the government has taken to achieve a 19 percent tariff negotiation result and the concessions Malaysia has offered to the United States. Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (PN-Sik) will question the Foreign Minister regarding the steps the government is taking to urge the international community, particularly the United Nations (UN), to halt the continuous attacks by the Zionist regime on Gaza. During the oral question and answer session, Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) will ask the Minister of Transport to state the efforts that have been and are being taken to facilitate access for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to public transportation, similar to Korea, which uses sign language and Braille in the announcement systems at stations and on mass transit vehicles. Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (PH-Gombak) will ask the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development about the number of informal workers in the care economy sector that have been registered by the ministry, as well as the policies and preparations for an aging society. After the session, Members of Parliament will take part in the debate on the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), which was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Thursday. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, presented the RMK13 under the theme "Reshaping Development," which outlines the country's strategic plans for the period from 2026 to 2030.
