Teneisia Brown scores 34 points, Fairleigh Dickinson women go wire-to-wire in Northeast Conference

Yahoo16-03-2025
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) — Teneisia Brown scored a career-high 34 points and Fairleigh Dickinson defeated Stonehill 74-62 on Sunday to win the Northeast Conference Tournament.
Fairleigh Dickinson completed the sixth wire-to-wire run in women's NEC history. The Knights went 16-0 in the NEC regular season and added three wins to claim the tournament championship. They are going to the women's NCAA Tournament for the first time.
Sunday's game was unusual in that both teams already knew what postseason tournament they would play in. The Skyhawks, still in their Division I transition period, were eligible for the conference championship but not the NCAA Tournament. When FDU and Stonehill won their semifinals it meant that Fairleigh Dickinson would get the NEC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. At the same time, the WNIT announced that Stonehill would be invited to that tournament.
Fairleigh Dickinson, and more specifically Brown, dominated the first half, building a 35-21 lead. She had 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and 6 for 6 on free throws.
The Skyhawks got within 42-37 late in the third quarter but Brown was fouled twice in the final six seconds and her four free throws gave the Knights a 46-37 lead. She outscored the Skyhawks 8-2 in a key stretch of the fourth quarter, giving FDU a 62-47 advantage with two minutes remaining.
Brown, a 14.4 points per game scorer, had 23 and 28 points in FDU's previous games in the tournament.
Ava Renninger had 10 points for the Knights (29-3). Brown finished 11 for 19 from the field and 12 for 12 at the line.
Kylie Swider had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Skyhawks (17-15). Sharn Hayward and Brooke Paquette scored 12 points each. ___

Packers safety Omar Brown spending the night in Indianapolis hospital after suffering bruised chest

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said safety Omar Brown will spend Saturday night in an Indianapolis hospital for further evaluation after suffering a chest contusion in a preseason game against the Colts. LaFleur provided the update following Green Bay's come-from-behind 23-19 victory. Brown was seen wearing an oxygen mask and holding his midsection as he left the field on a golf cart. LaFleur did not have any additional details about the injury. 'It's a scary deal,' LaFleur said. Brown spent most of last season on the Packers practice squad, but wound up playing in two games and has had a strong enough training camp that he could make the Packers' 53-man roster. It's yet another injury to an already depleted secondary that is without Pro Bowl safety Xavier McKinney and cornerback Nate Hobbs. Green Bay remains hopeful both McKinney and Hobbs will be ready for the Sept. 7 season opener against division rival Detroit. Packers defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell also left with a knee injury in the first half. Running back MarShawn Lloyd also did not return after hauling in a 33-yard catch in the second quarter though it wasn't clear if he was injured on the play.

Hollywood Brown fantasy football preview 2025: Stats, season outlook, predictions

Rotoworld Staff, Hollywood Brown 2025 Fantasy Preview 2024: Brown missed most of the season after suffering a major shoulder injury in the preseason. He returned in Week 15 and was targeted at a high per-route rate, though his playing time remained limited. Brown had just 14 catches for 141 scoreless yards over five games in 2024. What's changed: Brown is fully recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered last August. The Chiefs could be without Rashee Rice in the early going as Rice faces a suspension that could be anywhere from two games to six games. The team also selected WR Jaylen Royals in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Outlook: While he'll certainly be part of three-receiver sets, Brown will likely function as Patrick Mahomes' WR3, well behind Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Perhaps Brown will take on the primary downfield role in the KC offense. There might not be much fantasy value in that role with Mahomes largely refusing to go downfield in recent seasons. Lakers jersey history No. 3 — Anthony Brown

Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary. As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years. In this article, we take a look at Anthony Brown, a forward who once had a brief stint with the Lakers. A native of Southern California, Brown headed up north to play for Stanford University after leading Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach to a CIF Southern Section championship. In his fifth year with the Cardinal, he averaged 14.8 points and 6.9 rebounds a game. The Lakers took him in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He appeared in 29 games with them during the 2015-16 season and averaged 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20.7 minutes a game. Brown stuck around in the NBA for two more seasons and played for the New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando Magic and Minnesota Timberwolves. He would go on to have numerous short stints with pro basketball teams overseas, and in July, he signed with Beşiktaş Gain, a pro team in Turkey.
