Raymond van Barneveld granted exemption to play in darts tournament as five-time world champion accepts wildcard invite
DARTS legend Raymond van Barneveld has been granted permission to join the World Seniors Tour.
The 58-year-old has been named as the final wildcard for the 2025 Champion of Champions.

Barney will take on 11 other legends of the sport at the tournament in Portsmouth on June 29.
The Dutch icon currently holds a PDC Tour Card.
He was given special permission by the PDC to appear in the event later this month.
Van Barneveld began his darts pro career way back in 1987.
He started in the BDO, winning four world titles before joining the PDC in 2006.
Barney added the PDC crown a year later, cementing his place as a legend of the sport.
The Dutchman still plays on the Tour, but his last major televised final came in the 2018 Masters.
He will go up against stars including Simon Whitlock, Steve Beaton and Mervyn King in Portsmouth.
Van Barneveld said: "I am looking forward to playing in this event.
"The sport has always loved big characters, and World Seniors Darts have brought them back, with most still playing to a high standard.
"They have a loyal crowd, and the popularity for the Seniors seems to grow and grow.
"I'm looking forward to catching up with the old faces of the sport, especially from my BDO era.
"I'm not coming over to Portsmouth thinking this will be easy.
"I will be giving my full respect to all of the players involved, and I will be preparing hard for this tournament".
"To have the likes of Simon Whitlock, Steve Beaton and Mervyn King, who have not long come off the Professional Tour, and then Seniors World Champions like John [Henderson], Robert [Thornton], and Ross [Montgomery] also playing, it's going to be a real battle out there to take the title".

'There probably was scope for these two guys to connect with a hug or a handshake, no matter how cursory, but they chose to perform a non-verbal 'ignore' of the situation, with Sam being Zara's ex while Louis is very much her current,' she said. 'The problem with ignoring a very obvious situation is that is tends to then act as an attention-magnet, so the presumed goal of not upstaging the charity becomes a bit of a problem.' Judi told how Sam's body language saw him 'showboating' as he looked determined to be on jovial terms and wanted to avoid being seen as 'a loser in love', compared to Louis' more introverted state. 'Both guys present as 'good' guys here though even though their lack of eye contact or other form of greeting tends to lend an air of drama to the event,' she went on. 'They each appear to have adopted contrasting states. Sam's body language puts him in an attention-seeking mode, showboating with a wide smile and animated gesticulation, while Louis appears more introvert, watching the action with a grin rather than instigating it himself. 'Sam's behavior suggests he's keen to be seen as anything but a loser in love here. 'Louis appears watchful and interested but there's no outward sign of anything competitive or of open resentment from the two men who are both known as nice guys.' Cadillac sweep front row in Le Mans 24 Hours qualifying
June 12 (Reuters) - Cadillac locked out the front row in qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race for the first time on Thursday with Britain's Alex Lynn securing pole position. Lynn set a best time of three minutes 23.166 seconds in the number 12 Team Jota Cadillac at the Sarthe circuit with New Zealand's Earl Bamber putting the sister 38 car alongside and 0.167 slower. Lynn shares his car with compatriot Will Stevens and Frenchman Norman Nato while Bamber's teammates are 2009 Formula One world champion Jenson Button and French four-times Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais. "I can't tell you how much I wanted this," said Lynn, who missed out on pole last year by a mere 0.138, over the team radio. "One tenth last year hurt a lot. "I'm truly honoured to be able to put in a performance like that in front of everyone and deliver for Cadillac in the way they deserve," he added after getting out of the car. "This is a magical circuit and this is a special feeling. I can't describe it. We will enjoy this tonight, have a good sleep and re-set." GM-owned Cadillac are the first American marque to take outright pole at Le Mans since Ford in 1967. The number five Porsche Penske was third fastest, after threatening to take pole, with France's Julien Andlauer, Denmark's Michael Christensen and France's Mathieu Jaminet. The number 15 BMW qualified in fourth place with Belgian Dries Vanthoor, Swiss-Italian Raffaele Marciello and Danish former F1 driver Kevin Magnussen. Defending champions Ferrari, outright winners for the past two years, had Italian Antonio Fuoco, Denmark's Nicklas Nielsen and Spaniard Miguel Molina in seventh place in last year's winning car number 50. The 93rd edition of the race starts on Saturday at 1600 local (1400GMT).

Ronaldo helped his country to their second title in the competition, scoring in both the semi-final and final out in Germany as Roberto Martinez's side claimed victory. First, the Al-Nassr forward was on hand to tap in the winner against home side Germany in the semi-finals, setting up a mouth-watering clash with Spain in the final two. Though the European champions were favourites, Portugal delivered, drawing 2-2 after trailing and then winning on penalties. Ronaldo, meanwhile, scored the equaliser. Portugal embarked on a series of celebrations and Ronaldo was no different. The 40-year-old was seen donning sunglasses and a shirt that read 'campeones' on the back of the win. Ronaldo confirmed after the win that he would be staying with Al-Nassr despite suggestions he could leave to head to the Club World Cup. 'The tears were of joy. When you win something for Portugal, it's always special, but there's nothing like winning for the national team, in my opinion,' the 40-year-old said. 'This generation deserved it and we were going to have a bit of luck and merit and we were going to win the final. 'We knew it was going to be difficult but we deserved it and this gives us confidence and allows us to go to the World Cup with more confidence. Future? It won't change anything. Al-Nassr, yes.'
