Randy Orton recently looked back at how his surprising WrestleMania 41 match against TNA Champion Joe Hendry came together. Speaking with Carl Lamarre of Billboard, Orton revealed the original plans changed abruptly due to injury.
Orton confirmed that initial plans involved facing Kevin Owens at the landmark event. However, those plans were scrapped when Owens was sidelined with a neck issue.
"There was a lot up in the air just a couple of things prior to Mania," Randy Orton explained. "Owens had the neck thing, and it was starting to bug him. So once they looked at that, the doctors said he was a no-go."
This opponent change came at a significant time for Orton personally. "This one was important to me because it was my 20th [WrestleMania], and I'm closer to the end of my career than the beginning," he noted.
Orton continued, emphasizing the importance of the moment for his career narrative. "Getting these Manias in, and leaving as much of a legacy behind [as possible], is important."

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - APRIL 20: Randy Orton celebrates after defeating Joe Hendry during WrestleMania 41 at Allegiant Stadium on April 20, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada."It kind of came down to, 'OK. We need to get Orton an opponent. Who's it gonna be?'" Orton recalled. "And there was a very short list of guys on our own roster..." He explained WWE needed him to look strong emerging from WrestleMania, given his subsequent plans leading into the Backlash event.
"...it was one of those things where I needed to win," Orton stated. "But considering we knew where I was going to be going, thinking about Backlash, we needed me to look good coming out of Mania." This created a dilemma regarding potential opponents.
"It couldn't be one of our new guys, because when we debut a new talent into the show, [we couldn't] have him start with a loss." The solution came from Orton himself, who pitched bringing in an outside talent. So we put our heads together, and it was actually my idea [for it to be] Joe Hendry," Orton revealed.

"I kept pushing for it, and a couple people were unsure, but I was able to talk everybody into it," he confirmed. Orton expressed great satisfaction with how the unique matchup turned out.
"I'm really glad that they went with him. It was perfect," Orton said of facing Hendry. "It was different from anything else on the card. It was a legitimate surprise, and we were able to keep it a surprise for the most part."
He specifically praised the incredible fan reaction when Hendry made his entrance. "We got that really cool, 'Holy sh*t' moment when his music hit, and it was great. He was great," Orton added.
"It was actually a stress-free fun Mania for me, because I didn't have this crazy 30 minutes balls-to-the-walls match with all this high-risk sh*t," Orton concluded. "I had this cool little segment with Joe... So I was really able to enjoy the week and just soak it all up."

Red Hot Paige Spiranac Gives U.S. Open Dark Horses, Breaks Down Oakmont
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. When it comes to predicting major championships, Paige Spiranac has a better track record than many expert forecasters, at least for the current season. The popular golf influencer correctly predicted the winners of the Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship, and she hopes to extend her streak at the US Open. Spiranac shared her US Open predictions on her X account, which has over one million followers. "Cream normally rise to the top in championships like this, so no surprise the favorites are going to be Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau, but if you're looking at some dark horses, I'm liking Harris English and Ben Griffin," she said. "I'm looking for carnage this week and fingers crossed that we actually get an over par winner." There's no question that these four picks are extremely interesting. Scheffler is the overwhelming favorite in any prediction given his recent performance, especially over the past month. During that period, the World No. 1 won three tournaments, including the PGA Championship, his third career major. DeChambeau, for his part, has been second to none in terms of strong results. The reigning U.S. Open champion has a victory in LIV Golf and finished in the top 10 in the first two major championships of this season. In fact, the two-time major champion has finished in the top 10 in five of the last six majors, including one victory and two runner-up finishes. (Photo byfor Sports Illustrated Swimsuit) MoreAs for Spiranac's dark horses, they are certainly two of the hottest players on the PGA Tour right now. English won the Farmers Insurance Open earlier in 2025 and finished second in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow just four weeks ago. Meanwhile, Griffin has won twice in the last six weeks (Zurich Classic and Rocket Mortgage Classic). During that time, he also achieved a top-10 finish at the PGA Championship and a second-place finish at the Memorial Tournament. The surprise in Spiranac's prediction came when she didn't mention Rory McIlroy, who is considered by most forecasters to be one of the top favorites to win the US Open. His most recent results—T47 at the PGA Championship and missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open—likely influenced her omission. As you may recall, McIlroy's results came after the USGA found his competition driver as non-conforming ahead of the PGA Championship. However, he has been seen at the Oakmont Country Club carrying the TaylorMade Qi10 model again, which he used for his early season successes. Sabrina Carpenter's 'Manchild' Is Clawing Toward a Hot 100 #1 Debut
Sabrina Carpenter is no longer the rising pop princess. She's a fully formed femme fatale with diamond fangs, and her latest venom-laced single, 'Manchild,' is biting deep into the Billboard charts and possibly clawing its way to a #1 debut on the Hot 100. What started as a sleek feminist kiss-off has exploded into a bona fide streaming juggernaut, and as of this moment, Sabrina is in a deadly close race with TikTok heartthrob Alex Warren's 'Ordinary' for the top spot. According to projections, the songs are now within just 10 chart points of each other, an astonishingly tight margin that could tip in Sabrina's favor if her streaming momentum continues through the week. 'Manchild' didn't just whisper its way onto streaming platforms it stomped in, six-inch heels and all. The track debuted at #1 on the Global Spotify Chart on June 6 with a staggering 8.05 million streams worldwide, marking the biggest debut of the year by a female artist. Let's be very clear: this isn't just a fluke. These numbers obliterate the previous 2025 record set by Chappell Roan's 'The Giver' and cement Sabrina as not just a pop girl but a pop girl. In the U.S. specifically, 'Manchild' dropped jaws with 3.3 million streams on its first day, giving it a firm grip on the #1 spot on the U.S. Spotify Chart. That's right: Sabrina Carpenter is topping streaming charts in the same week as new releases from Post Malone, Cardi B, and even a surprise drop from The Weeknd. The girl is unfazed, unbothered, and undeniably unstoppable. Here's the breakdown of 'Manchild''s first three days on Spotify: Day 1: 8,752,217 Day 2: 4,766,328 Day 3: 4,526,518 (down only 5.03% from the day before) Total so far? A cool 18,045,063 streams. And she's just getting started. Sabrina isn't just relying on vibes she's playing this game with ruthless pop star precision. 'Manchild' has been discounted to 69 cents on digital platforms, making it one of the best-selling singles of the week on U.S. iTunes, where it now sits pretty at #1. This is Sabrina's first #1 on iTunes, and with digital sales factored heavily into Billboard's Hot 100 formula, this price drop could be the razor-sharp move that slices Alex Warren's lead. For those doing the math: digital sales + massive streaming + Spotify dominance + strong radio adds starting this weekend equals a serious threat for a #1 debut. Let's not ignore the elephant in the studio: 'Manchild' is a banger. It's a breathless, flirtatious slap in the face to immature men wrapped in syrupy vocals and a glossy, hyper-pop beat. It's 'thank u, next' for the Gen Z TikTok generation—but with better shoes and sharper claws. The lyrics? Savage. The delivery? Pornographicly confident. And if TikTok is any indication (over 350,000 video creations and counting), the girls, gays, and emotionally neglected situationships are all eating it up. Here's what we know. Alex Warren's 'Ordinary' has been the sleeper hit of the season, riding high on streaming and viral sentimentality. But streaming alone won't be enough to guarantee him the top spot if Sabrina keeps firing on all cylinders. If 'Manchild' continues to hold its streaming velocity and expands its sales lead through the week and if radio jumps in with last-minute spins it's entirely possible that Sabrina Carpenter could debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 next Monday. That would make her the first solo female artist to debut at #1 in 2025 a stat that's almost too poetic for a song this petty and perfect. The narrative has shifted. Sabrina isn't just the girl next door with a pretty voice she's a chart-dominating pop dominatrix, and 'Manchild' is her scorched-earth campaign against the industry's lingering doubt. Every stream, every sale, every sexy smirk in the song's viral lyric video is evidence: this woman came to conquer. So buckle up. The Hot 100 is about to get very, very interesting and Sabrina Carpenter might just be sitting at the top of it all. WrestleMania 42 to take place in Las Vegas once again
WWE announced on Wednesday that WrestleMania 42 will be held in Las Vegas for the second straight year after it was previously revealed that New Orleans would be the host site. Reports about the premiere event of the WWE season leaving New Orleans surfaced a few weeks back. As speculation ran rampant on social media, WWE announced during its Money in the Bank premium live event that WrestleMania will be back at Allegiant Stadium. "Las Vegas helped to deliver the biggest WrestleMania of all time, shattering records and delivering an amazing week for fans around the world," WWE president Nick Khan said in a news release. "We look forward to once again working with the talented and effective teams at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Allegiant Stadium to bring WrestleMania back to the Sports and Entertainment Capital of the World." Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) CEO Steve Hill, who talked to Fox News Digital earlier this year ahead of WrestleMania 41, touted the return of the event as well. "We are honored that WWE has once again selected Las Vegas to host the biggest event on their calendar," Hill said. "Bringing WrestleMania 42 to Las Vegas underscores our city's reputation for elevating world-class events to new heights. We are excited to build on last year's success and deliver an even more incredible experience for the WWE Universe in 2026." WrestleMania in Las Vegas was just as busy as Super Bowl week in the city. WWE hosted events up and down the Las Vegas Strip, including the Hall of Fame ceremony, the Roast of WrestleMania and WrestleMania After Dark at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. WWE said "Monday Night Raw," "Friday Night SmackDown" and WWE World will return. NXT Stand & Deliver will also take place in the city. It will be the second time in WrestleMania's history that the show will be hosted in the same city in consecutive years. WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V were held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
