Tennessee Titans cancel private work out with Shedeur Sanders after pro day
After Colorado's pro day, at which all 32 NFL teams were represented, including the Tennessee Titans, who hold the No. 1 overall pick, the team and quarterback Shedeur Sanders mutually agreed to cancel their previously scheduled private workout.
The Titans had already conducted a private session with Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who is viewed as the favorite for the top pick. However, following a strong showing in Boulder, the team felt confident enough in Sanders' performance that no private workout was necessary. According to Jim Wyatt of the team's official website, the Titans have seen enough to decide on the Buffaloes' signal-caller

Sanders impressed scouts by completing 58 of his 63 passes during the NFL Showcase, displaying his accuracy and deep-ball strength in drills. The Titans' brass left Boulder not only impressed by Sanders but also by his teammate, Travis Hunter.
"Shedeur threw the ball well, and we got to see him out there with Travis," Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi told Wyatt. "And Travis, everything you see on film – he is one of the twitchiest athletes I've ever seen. He's impressive. It was good to see Shedeur go through the whole workout, and the two-minute drill after. It just confirms a lot of stuff you saw on tape – he can drive the deep ball, you saw that here today."
In 2024, Sanders passed for over 4,000 yards with 37 touchdowns and ten interceptions on 74% completion. While some scouts still have questions about his fit and the next level, his mechanics at the pro day offered encouraging signs in front of 31 other teams besides the Titans.
The Titans' decision to skip a private workout with Sanders suggests they are narrowing their options ahead of the draft and have seen enough to be confident in Sanders. However, the fact that they sent a large contingent to Boulder means that Sanders is likely still firmly in play for the top overall pick.

Tennessee Titans have two of NFL's worst contracts entering 2025
Tennessee Titans have two of NFL's worst contracts entering 2025 The Tennessee Titans had an aggressive offseason knowing they needed to build around whichever player they selected with the No. 1 overall pick. That player wound up being quarterback Cam Ward out of Miami, a move that has given some new hope to a franchise that hasn't reached the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. However, the offseason also included some questionable moves. With Mike Borgonzi taking over as the general manager for the first time in his career. When looking at the worst contracts across the NFL, the Titans were featured twice on the list from Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, with his four-year, $76.4 million deal, came in at No. 9 on the list. It's easy to understand the rationale behind the Tennessee Titans' 2024 trade to acquire cornerback L'Jairus Sneed. Good cornerbacks are hard to find, and Sneed had excelled in Steve Spagnuolo's defense with the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, it was odd to see Tennessee immediately give a 27-year-old corner who had never been to a Pro Bowl a deal worth $19.1 million annually—which has him as the league's 11th-highest-paid cornerback a year later. Borgonzi inherited that contract, so it's difficult to hold that deal against him. However, coming in at No. 3 on the list was arguably the biggest move Borgonzi made during free agency: signing Dan Moore Jr. to a four-year, $82 million deal. The Titans entered free agency knowing that they were likely to use the No. 1 overall pick on Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Therefore, aggressively addressing the offensive line was logical. However, there isn't a world in which Moore should be the league's 10th-highest-paid tackle in terms of annual salary, which he currently is. Fortunately for the Titans, they have a quarterback on a rookie contract so they can afford to overpay right now for some lesser-tiered players. With that said, there's a good chance these deals will become even more of a talking point in the future.

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Cleveland Browns have a potential long-term franchise quarterback on their roster. While there is a competition between four different signal callers, Shedeur Sanders has been the most talked about player in the room and has turned a lot of heads already in his short time with the team. Not only has he turned the heads of the media, Sanders has grabbed attention from his new teammates. That was evident once again due to former star NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson speaking out with a new story. Read more: Browns' Shedeur Sanders Doesn't Hold Back Amid QB Competition "I talked to Denzel Ward...(expletive), I shouldn't say his name. But anyway, I talked to 'some people,' and (Shedeur) looked different. There's a difference when that young bull is out there spinning that ball, you hear me?" Johnson said. Ward coming out with that kind of a comment is a huge sign of Sanders' talent. The young quarterback has come out and made a statement already after slipping from being a projected first or second round pick to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Entering the 2025 draft, Sanders was viewed as a top quarterback prospect by many. There were questions about his attitude, but he has answered those questions in Cleveland. Since he came into town, the Browns have seen Sanders work hard and become a sponge. He wants to be great and he wants to be a starter. So far, he has done and said everything right. Winning over the locker room is a major key for any quarterback who wants to play. Sanders is already doing that. It will be interesting to see what he's able to do in preseason games. Should he come out and put up big numbers, he might just have a shot at being the season opening starter. While it isn't likely, it certainly isn't impossible. At the very least, hearing this feedback from Ward bodes well for the Browns' long-term future at the quarterback position. For more Cleveland Browns and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Ex Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady Offers Post-Draft Advice to Shedeur Sanders
Ex Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady Offers Post-Draft Advice to Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders just suffered a historic fall in this year's NFL Draft. Advertisement After he was projected to be a top-10 pick in the selection process earlier this month, Sanders fell all the way to the fifth round, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns - the team that many thought would take him with the No. 2 overall pick. But when it comes to making the most out of a late-round selection, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady can speak confidently. Brady appeared on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul and Mike Majlak and offered Shedeur some advice. "So, nobody knows. I actually texted Shedeur because I know him very well," Brady said. "And I said, 'Dude, whatever happens, wherever you go, that's your first day. Day 2 matters more than the draft. I was 199. So, who could speak on it better than me – what that really means. Use it as motivation. You're gonna get your chances, go take advantage of it.'" Advertisement Sanders and Brady have had a relationship since Shedeur was at Jackson State and signed an NIL deal with the Brady Brand. That relationship carried over when he transferred to Colorado when his famous football father, Deion, was named head coach. Brady said he remembered another draft slide back in 2005 that might've motivated another pretty successful NFL signal caller. "I remember when they were talking about Aaron Rodgers sliding and Aaron slid to like 21 in the first round or whatever it was. I'm like, 'Dude, you're the 21st pick in the first round. I think they still think you're pretty good. You're still a great player. You're still a first-round pick in the NFL. There's only 32 of those guys every year.' So, use it as motivation," he said. "Wherever you end up going, it's still about your performance. Like, what do you do when you get there, because you're gonna get there. "He has to show up every day because, as a quarterback, you have to be a leader," Brady added. "And to me a leader is, do I care about my teammates and do I care about what we're trying to accomplish?" Advertisement Sanders has an opportunity to make a name for himself, this time away from his famous father and coach, if he can make the best of what looked like a bad situation during the NFL Draft.
