Raymond Blanc's flagship restaurant in Oxfordshire impresses in every season but is offering an extra special summer programme this year.
Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons, a Belmond Hotel is celebrating its status as Britain's original "garden to table" destination this summer, as well as its culinary excellence.
Having retained two Michelin stars every year since it opened in 1984, as well as a Green Star in 2023 for a proven commitment to sustainability, the restaurant has Raymond Blanc OBE as chef patron and executive head chef Luke Selby at the helm.

Already this summer Mr Blanc has joined forces with chef Yannick Alleno for an exclusive "Four Hands Lunch", and hosted the Bastille Day party to end all parties in Provencal style in the garden.

New cocktails include Ambre, which combines lemon verbena, on of the garden's most abundant herps with mango, while Corail fuses one of the most gentle fruits with a fiery vegetable for a peach-chilli creation.
Also on offer is Rouge, with raspberry and tomatoes inspired by Mr Blanc's childhood paired with tequila for savoury summer sipping.

The dining experiences are all-new this season too with a three-course summer lunch offering guests a taste of fresh flavours with dishes such as confit aged salmon with a yoghurt and elderflower granita and plate of herdwick lamb with asparagus and wild garlic.

An option to enjoy the balmy weather with some al fresco dining is also available with a Veuve Clicquuot Picnic, which includes a bottle of the Champagne complemented with charcuterie, scones with clotted cream and homemade strawberry preserve as well as fresh fruit, sandwiches, macaroons, olives and almonds.
Le Manoir is also offering activities for those wanting to learn more about any aspect of its set up.
Gardeners can learn the secrets of the estate at the Raymond Blanc Gardening School, from propagation to herb growing, summer fruit pruning to soil-to-plate cultivation.
While in the garden, guests can also visit The King's Rose, first unveiled at this year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show by David Austin Roses in tribute to King Charles III.

It is the first variety of rose bred to be striped, in fuchsia pink and white, and has been planted in a new immaculate David Austin Rose bed at the foot of Le Manoir's original Dovecote.
And for those ready to spend more time in the Oxfordshire estate, families can enjoy a two-night stay to switch off in the "nature family escape".
With morning yoga sessions, seeding and planting workshops, a Harris Hawk handling session and time to explore the Japanese Tea Garden, there's plenty to entertain.

Scottish TV in crisis as demand collapses amid economic gloom

Scottish TV has been plunged into crisis as economic gloom hits advertising revenues and demand for new shows. Scottish Television (STV), which holds the Channel 3 licence in Scotland and is the country's largest commercial broadcaster, has warned that its revenues and profits would be 'materially' below expectations this year. Shares in the broadcaster plunged by as much as a third to their lowest level in more than 12 years in response to the update, pushing its market value below £90m. ITV, which licences many of its programmes to the Scottish channel, was also down 2pc. STV suffered a 10pc drop in advertising revenue in the first six months of 2025, which it said was in line with expectations following strong trading in the same period last year during the Euros football tournament. But bosses warned the market had since deteriorated further, with ad revenues plunging by a fifth in July. In addition to the advertising downturn, STV warned of a significant slowdown in its production division, which is the largest in Scotland and is behind shows such as the BBC's Blue Lights and upcoming Sky drama Amadeus. Studio businesses are considered a key area of growth for broadcasters as they grapple with a decline in traditional TV viewing. But rising costs and tough competition from streaming rivals result in many channels having to cut back on programming spend, leading to fewer commissions. ITV last week said it was slashing its programming spending as part of a wider cost-cutting strategy, while Channel 4 is also investing significantly less in making TV shows. Focus on Britain STV said that while it is working on projects for US streaming giants including Netflix and Apple, it remains primarily UK-focused, meaning it has been 'disproportionately' hit by a drying up of demand in the domestic market. STV forecasts production revenues of between £75m and £85m for the full year, well behind its targets of £200m by the end of the decade. Overall, STV said it was lowering its full-year revenue forecasts to between £165m and £180m with a profit margin of around 7pc. Richard Bernstein, the head of fund manager Crystal Amber, which was previously the largest shareholder in STV, described the profit warning as 'vicious'. He said: 'We've been tracking the company and saw today's warning as inevitable: it was over a year since its last new studio commission, we think the worst is yet to come.' In May, STV announced that it would combine its traditional TV and streaming businesses into a single division, aiming to streamline the company for the digital age. It also announced plans to launch a new Scotland-focused commercial radio station while doubling revenues in its studios unit. Bosses said they were ramping up cost-cutting plans with a further £750,000 in savings identified, bringing the company's total target for the year to £2.5m. ‘Death Stranding' Is Helping UK Users Bypass Age Verification Laws

Gamers in the United Kingdom have found a surprisingly simple way to bypass online age verification checks now required by law on some websites using just a video game. An X user named Dany Sterkhov appears to be the first to discover the hack. On July 25, he posted that he had bypassed Discord's age verification check using the photo mode in the video game Death Stranding. Sterkhov made the post just days after the U.K. began enforcing the Online Safety Act—a set of laws passed in 2023 aimed at preventing children from accessing porn or other 'harmful' content related to self-harm, suicide, and eating disorders. Companies that fail to comply with the new laws could face fines of up to 18 million pounds ($24.2 million) or 10% of their global revenue, whichever amount is higher. According to the U.K.'s media regulator, Ofcom, platforms like Bluesky, Discord, Grindr, Reddit, and X have already committed to adding age verification systems to their platforms. 'Prioritizing clicks and engagement over children's online safety will no longer be tolerated in the U.K.,' said Ofcom executive chief Dame Melanie Dawes in a statement. 'Our message to tech firms is clear – comply with age-checks and other protection measures set out in our Codes, or face the consequences of enforcement action from Ofcom.' But it turns out some of these age verification methods aren't all that hard to trick. The Verge and PCGamer have both tried Sterkhov's hack themselves and confirmed it works. Most of these companies rely on third-party platforms to handle age verification. These services typically give users the option to upload a government-issued photo ID or submit photos of themselves. Discord uses a platform called k-ID for age verification. According to The Verge's Tom Warren, all he had to do to pass the check was point his phone's camera at his monitor to scan the face of Sam Bridges, the protagonist of Death Stranding, using the game's photo mode. The system did ask him to open and close his mouth—something that is easy enough to do in the game. Warren was also able to bypass Reddit's age check, which is handled by Persona, using the same method. However, the trick didn't work with Bluesky's system, which uses Yoti for age verification. Discord and Reddit did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Gizmodo. Death Stranding gamers weren't the only ones trying to avoid the age verification systems. ProtonVPN reported on X that it saw an over 1,400 percent increase in sign-ups in the U.K. after the age verification requirements took effect. VPNs let people browse the web as if they were in a different location, making it easier to bypass the U.K.'s age checks. In the U.S., laws requiring similar age verification systems for porn sites have passed in nearly half the states. Nine states in the U.S. have also passed laws requiring parental consent or age verification for social media platforms.
