The Block couple Sonny and Alicia accused of 'bribery' during shock episode

Daily Mail20 hours ago
Two Block contestants were accused of 'bribery' by the show's resident tilers during Tuesday night's episode.
Gold Coast couple Sonny and Alicia were busy working on their home at the Daylesford site when they realised they urgently needed tiling work done.
The pair approached the show's tilers, the Cursio brothers, who were busy working on another house and attempted to 'bribe' them to come and work on their property.
'We know you are busy, but if we get on our hands and knees will you be our waterproofer and tiler?' the pair asked the brothers as they presented them with two large pizzas.
'I've got dessert for you, too,' Sonny added, and then handed them a box of biscuits.
However, the brothers hesitated at the offer, with one suggesting it could be seen as a bribe.
'I think this may be considered bribery,' he told the couple.
However, Sonny and Alicia insisted they had done nothing wrong.
'There are no rules about that on The Block,' Sonny responded.
The brothers jokingly told them they 'don't like making decisions on an empty stomach' and decided to enjoy the pizza as they mused over the offer.
'It took Alicia this long to say yes when I asked her to marry me!' Sonny quipped.
The pair later admitted to the camera they had indeed been attempting to bribe the tilers.
'We are 100% bribing them. We will not shy away from that,' Alicia admitted.
Last month, the parents of three exclusively told Daily Mail that the emotional rollercoaster of The Block was more intense than they expected - but worth every tear.
'This was our second time applying - and it just felt right this year,' Alicia said.
They're also the only team to build a brick house, giving them a clear point of difference.
'It stands out,' Sonny said. 'And we brought the brick inside too. It just feels like a real home.'
The couple say their aim was to build something warm and family-friendly - not just a showpiece.
'We want whoever buys this house to celebrate Christmas here, host birthdays and have their whole family around,' Alicia said.
Despite the drama and pressure, they say their relationship came out even stronger.
'We've been together 14 years. We made a pact to always have each other's backs,' Alicia said.
'We bicker, sure. But that's how we roll. We don't let it linger.'

Lindsay Lohan looks completely different 16 years after THAT shock Aussie magazine cover following a major transformation that lead to a new taut face

Lindsay Lohan has been at the centre of cosmetic surgery accusations for months. And the Hollywood actress, 39, did little to dispel rumours on Tuesday as she stepped out in Sydney at the Australian premiere of her new movie Freakier Friday. Lindsay looked worlds away from a shock magazine cover that ran in Australia 16 years ago. In 2009, Famous magazine featured a photo of the star posing on the red carpet where she appeared worse for wear with larger lips and natural wrinkles. Lindsay has totally transformed her look since then, displaying a wrinkle-free complexion and plump cheeks as she walked the red carpet with her co-star Jamie Lee Curtis this week. Her visage is taut, while her jawline appears noticeably more pronounced than it did during her former years in the spotlight. The Parent Trap star's early years in the industry were marked by reports of multiple run-ins with the law and scandal. In what is being dubbed the 'Lohanaissance' - or Lindsay's second act in Hollywood - the former child star has now transformed into a happy, healthy, and sober mother, with a focus on family and wellness. She previously confirmed that she has received Botox, skin lasers and Morpheus8, a non-surgical procedure that pierces the skin with tiny needles to 'rejuvenate' it, but has denied any other procedures. Hitting back against speculation to ELLE, she said in May: 'Everyone does Botox. 'I drink this juice every morning. It's like carrot, ginger, lemon, olive oil, apple. I also drink a lot of green tea, a lot of water. 'I'm a big pickled beets person, so I put them in almost everything. My skin care is very specific. I'm trying out some serums not that I'm doing — I'm testing them. 'Also, I'm a big believer in ice-cold water on your face when you wake up. I drink lemon juice a lot; I also put tons of chia seeds in my water. Eye patches, I do every morning. I'm into lasers. 'I did Morpheus8 (a non-invasive radiofrequency micro-needling treatment) once, and then I realized my skin is so thin that I can't be doing that.' Lindsay added: 'My skin changed after having my son. It got really sensitive. That's what really made me change my whole routine and diet and everything. 'I did blood tests, and I was like, I want to know everything I'm allergic to. So I cut everything out, and that's kind of when everything started to change for me.' During the interview, her publicist also reportedly chimed in and said: 'You know what the problem is with you being beautiful women — the second she looks any different, they assume she had her face lifted at 37 or 38, that she ripped apart this or that. It's so mean.' Plastic surgeons speculated that Lindsay had received a facelift after she appeared at the movie premiere in December because of her youthful appearance. It has also previously been suggested that she had an upper eyelid lift to reduce the skin above the eyes, a sign of ageing. And it was claimed that she may have had at least one nose job because her nose has changed shape from earlier in her career. Revealing estimates for her rumoured surgery at the time, Dr Gary Linkov, a plastic surgeon in New York City, based on having viewed photographs of her, but not treating her, claimed she may have spent $275,000 on surgery. This includes $50,000 for lip fillers over 19 years, $80,000 for a face lift, and $40,000 for veneers. Lindsay's friends told The Mail last month that her transformation began in 2014 when, after years of reckless behaviour that led to her being jailed five times in the US, she travelled to the UK to star in a West End production of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow. Lindsay's friends told The Mail last month that her transformation began in 2014 when she travelled to the UK to star in a West End production of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow Away from the prying cameras of the paparazzi, Lindsay decided to go off the grid as she reportedly changed her numbers and 'cut herself off from all the bad influences', celebrity photographer Giles Harrison said. 'She dropped off the face of the planet, at least as far as Hollywood was concerned.' She relocated to Dubai two years later in a bid to disconnect from Tinseltown and rediscover herself away from the cameras that had followed Lindsay around since she was 12. In 2020, Lindsay found love with Bader Shammas, a wealthy financier who works for Credit Suisse and hails from one of Dubai's ruling families. By then, a friend of the actress revealed Lindsay had done a lot of therapy and was 'ready to settle down'. The pair said 'I do' in 2022 and went on to welcome their son Luai, which means 'protector' or 'shield' in Arabic, the following year. Reflecting on her new life, Lindsay previously said: 'I've never been happier. 'I took time just to be with me. What I love about Dubai is there's serenity there. I can live a normal life.'

Gala Bingo players who thought they had won up to £10,000 each from £1.6m prize pot are left with NOTHING as firm blames 'computer glitch'

Almost 2,000 players were left furious after they believed they had won up to £10,000 each from a prize pot of £1.6million. Some bingo players believed their lives had been changed on Monday night after scooping what they thought were legitimate prizes. But when they attempted to withdraw their winnings, they were told by Gala Bingo that the prizes were in fact glitches and they would not be able to cash the winnings. The glitch in the bingo company's system resulted in the prize pot increasing to £1.6million when it should have only reached a maximum of £150. As a result 1,188 players were left disappointed and out of pocket. The gambling site then sent out an email to it customers explaining the wins were a result of a technical fault. One couple believed they'd won almost £10,000 between themselves on the Monday-night game. The Scottish pair, who wished to remain anonymous, had hoped to spend their winnings on the funeral of a relative but were shocked to find their accounts frozen and the money nowhere to be seen. A Scottish couple had hoped to spend their £7,000 on a funeral for a family member who had recently died and were disappointed when they were told the winnings were not theirs to cash One player even had his account on the website frozen and claims he has had his chat room privileges stopped because he was encouraging others to complain The woman told the Daily Mail that her partner had recently lost his mother and was over the moon to find the 1p game providing winnings of up to £7,200. She added that they were relieved and planned to spent the jackpot on a fully pink-themed funeral in honour of his mother. The woman said: 'My partner went up to get his medication and when he came back and sat down he looked shocked. I double checked and it said we had won £2,400. We thought we could take care of the funeral with no worries about the expense.' But the Scottish native added that she feared something wasn't right when she saw there were as many as 1,000 winners and the jackpost was still available. But her and her partner continued to play and their fears were even soothed by the bingo chat room host who told them to enjoy their winnings. She said: 'I wasn't sure about it all but then the host said "enjoy your winnings" - they obviously didn't realise what was happening.' The 52-year-old woman said that some players were able to withdraw the money straight to their Santander bank accounts but others couldn't. She told the Daily Mail that since the shocking incident, Gala Bingo has frozen her and her partners accounts and even disabled her husband's chat room privileges. because of his complaining. As recompense, she said they had been given some money back in the form of vouchers but felt it wasn't enough. She said: 'My partner is angry and it's become all-consuming, especially at such a difficult time. this has just knocked him sideways. 'It's all been dealt with so badly, it wasn't right.'

Major update on I'm A Celeb as ITV make decision on show's future amid talks with Aussie officials over jungle set

ITV bosses are planning beyond the next series of I'm A Celebrity — with talks underway for another five years in the jungle after that. The unusual long-term move would take the channel's most-watched returning series up to its landmark 30th season. 4 4 Execs are now locked in negotiations with Australian authorities to secure until the year 2030 the area of jungle where they film. A TV insider told The Sun: 'ITV wouldn't commission a new series five years in advance, but the production team are planning that far ahead which is a long-term approach they haven't adopted before. 'This is not a done deal with the local authorities and negotiations have just started with officials to secure the site. "They're not taking anything for granted but are hopeful all parties involved will be able to reach some kind of agreement.' It is a sign of ITV's long-term commitment to the show, hosted by Ant & Dec. Previously only three-year deals were struck to secure the site in Murwillumbah, New South Wales. 4 4 Filming there beyond 2030 would require further negotiations with Tweed Shire Council, which must give its official blessing. Confirming talks with ITV, a council spokeswoman said: 'They will need to seek permission again – we can't give open-ended filming permissions to anyone.' I'm A Celebrity will return this autumn for the 25th series, though the line-up has yet to be unveiled. It has proved a huge hit for ITV, with DJ Tony Blackburn winning the first series in 2002. During the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021 it moved to Gwrych Castle in North Wales. Last year, its 24th instalment, was won by McFly's Danny Jones.
