What's a game of hockey without a fight? Well, it seems the NHL Finals Game 3 had more than a single fight. As the third period of the Finals Game 3 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers arrived, a fight broke out in the middle of the court.
What was supposed to be a fight between just two players evolved into a full-fledged war between both teams. Amongst all the fights, it was the one between Darnell Nurse and Jonah Gadjovich that lasted longer than anyone else's. But what caused the fight? Who started it?
Who started the fight in NHL Finals Game 3?
When the third period of the game started, the Oilers' Trent Frederic tried to punch the Panthers' center player Sam Bennett. He continued doing so, and during one such attempt, he broke his stick on Bennett's arm, which started the war.
While all the players teamed up, fans expected them to stop the fight. Instead, the Oilers started going after the Panthers, and the fight prolonged. One such fight was between Darnell Nurse and Jonah Gadjovich which continued long after everyone else stopped.
Both players were seen holding each other's sweaters and necks and throwing punches. What was more interesting was that the umpires let the players fight for a long time before interfering.

Once the fight stopped, the ejections started.
Which players were ejected during NHL Finals Game 3?
After the fight settled down, the umpires started ejecting players from the game. A total of five players were ejected, out of which three were from Oilers and two from Panthers.
Umpires ejected Frederic, Nurse, and Mattias Ekholm, giving them 14 minutes, 17 minutes, and 10 minutes of misconduct respectively. They were permanently out of the game. Coming to the Panthers, Bennett and Gadjovich received 12 minutes and 15 minutes each.
Even after having their star players out of the game, the Panthers managed to win the game. They were already leading the match when the brawl started, and only made one more goal before the game ended. The final score came up to be 6-1, giving the Panthers a lead of 2-1 in the Stanley Cup finals.
Once the game was over, the Oilers' coach Kris Knoblauch gave his statement on the fight,
'I don't think we would have acted or played like that had it been a one-goal or two-goal game. Boys being boys, I guess trying to make investments for the next game.'
Does that mean there would be more such fights in the upcoming matches? Shouldn't there be strict regulations regarding on-court fights? It remains to be seen how the management is going to approach this matter.

To create something unforgettable, for Oilers fans, seeing their hero directly involved in the giveaway only amplified the emotional impact. Edmonton Oilers brothers make an unexpected, generous gesture While still processing the incredible gift, the brothers did something few could have predicted. Although they had mentioned their financial struggles, citing needs like rent and food, they chose to pay it forward. Right there in the store, they handed the entire $1,000 to a fellow shopper, a stranger. This spontaneous act of generosity wasn't staged or prompted; it was the kind of raw humanity that rarely appears in viral content. The brothers' instinct to share rather than keep underscored the true spirit of hockey culture and community. That decision is what transformed this from a fan-focused surprise into a moment that echoed far beyond sports. The emotional ending and the Gretzky connection As if the day couldn't get more special, Darin and Eric were later invited to meet Wayne Gretzky himself, the hockey legend, who greeted them warmly. Additionally, they signed jerseys, making the already unforgettable moment even more deeply personal. Read more: In a world that often feels divided. Penguins revival? Lemieux's ownership return in talks, Jagr stokes fan nostalgia

Mario Lemieux is introduced prior to the game (Credit: Getty Image) Pittsburgh Penguins fans may soon witness the return of a legendary ownership trio, according to recent reporting by NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Mario Lemieux, Ron Burkle, and David Morehouse are actively exploring the possibility of reacquiring the franchise from Fenway Sports Group. This trio previously purchased the team in 1999, steering it from financial distress to championship success. They sold the franchise to Fenway in 2021 but kept minor stakes, now, discussions around a partial or complete buyback have ignited curiosity. As Fenway is reportedly open to reshaping its ownership portfolio. Lemieux's legacy ties closely to the Penguins' future Mario Lemieux's history with the Penguins extends far beyond the boardroom, the Hall of Famer's name is synonymous with Pittsburgh hockey, not just as a player but as a savior of the franchise. After stepping in during a period of bankruptcy in 1999, Lemieux and Burkle oversaw the club's transformation into one of the NHL's most stable and successful organizations. Three Stanley Cup wins followed in 2009, 2016, and 2017 under their watch. Now, with the team at a crossroads, balancing the twilight of Sidney Crosby's career and an uncertain path forward, Lemieux's renewed involvement could offer both vision and continuity, his intimate understanding of the team's culture, community, and long-term needs could be vital. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Over 40 and Struggling With Belly Fat? 'DMs filled with death threats' - Stuart Skinner's wife admits getting threats from Oilers' fans

'My DMs filled with death threats' - Stuart Skinner's wife admits getting threats from Oilers' fans (Image Source: Getty) It is well-known how dedicated a fanbase can be, and the Edmonton Oilers fandom is one of them. In the recent episode of 'Breaking the Ice' podcast, Chloe Skinner, the Oilers' goalie's wife, shared how the fandom took it far by sending threats to her and her kids on social media. She further went on to add that there were times when security had to be involved for the family to safely pass a place. The revelation brings to the question of whether it is right for people to behave erratically towards the players' families after the team loses a match. Chloe Skinner revealed getting death threats from fans Chloe Skinner appeared on the recent episode of 'Breaking the Ice' podcast where the Oilers' star goalie's wife shared a couple of things. One such discussion went towards how dedicated the fanbase is towards the Oilers, and how things can turn ugly if the team loses a match. She explained how the fans 'breathe' Oilers and their reactions get intense when the team loses. 'There was times where security had to be involved. I specifically have DMs filled with death threats towards the kids, towards myself, from anonymous accounts [with] people hiding behind their screens.' Skinner further went ahead to explain how fans used to threaten her and the kids by saying they if they ever saw them in public, they would 'take us (Chloe and kids) out.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Düsseldorf: Gutes Hören sucht 700 Testhörer für Hörgeräte ohne Zuzahlung Gutes Hören Undo 'It gets intense, and I'm making it lighthearted right now, but when I do read those, I get really scared, and I do obviously worry for the safety of my family and my young boys. It's terrifying to think that there might be people out there who are going to hurt us over the result of a game. It is a little deranged.' Though Skinner shared the incident humorously, she admits that it was a tough period as she was scared to step out of the house. Though it is known that fans can react intensely towards a game, sending threats to the player's wife and kids is something that should not be normalized.
