Poonam Dhillon opens up about payment issues faced by actors today; says, 'These actors don't even have contracts…'
Poonam Dhillon
recently opened up about payment delays that many actors face and struggle with. In a conversation with ANI, the actress spoke about the hardships that actors go through. She revealed how, earlier, actors were paid after 30 days — but that has now changed to 90 days.
She shared, 'Today, a television actor, especially, gets paid after 90 days. I'm talking about short-term actors who earn a few thousand per day and work only two to three days a month. We're not talking about stars who earn lakhs or crores of rupees. They get all the money from their contracts. If they don't get paid, they won't even leave their house.'
Poonam then opened up about small-time actors who often struggle with payment issues.
She said, 'These small-time actors — people who are playing roles like a chauffeur, waiter, lawyer, or doctor — work just for a day and leave, then have to wait for 90 days for their payment. They have families, children, bills to pay, and they have to cover their basic expenses.'
'And we're not talking about every actor — not the big actors. They have their legal support and can go to court if needed. But these actors don't even have contracts. Earlier, they were given money for conveyance — like 300 rupees to cover transportation. Today, they're asking for 500 rupees, but they're not given anything. They're expected to travel to places that could be two hours away, without any transport allowance,' she added.
On the work front, Poonam is popularly known for her roles in Kittie Party, Ekk Nayi Pehchaan, and more.

Moscow to spotlight BRICS cultures through documentary film night
Moscow [Russia], August 20 (ANI): The All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after MI Rudomino is set to transform into a hub of global storytelling as it hosts the third annual All-Russian Film Night on 23 August. The cultural showcase will feature a curated selection of documentaries from BRICS and BRICS+ nations, with films provided by the TV BRICS International Media Network, a long-standing partner of the library. The event opens with the premiere of Partitura–young Music of Russia (Russia, 2025), directed by Ivan Zakharenko. The documentary captures the vibrancy of the 3rd All-Russian Competition for Young Composers and explores how music serves as a universal language that connects people across borders. Zakharenko emphasised that such screenings 'help viewers better understand the cultural characteristics of each country through the prism of art and music" and expressed hope the platform will grow into a regular creative exchange among BRICS+ filmmakers. As reported by TV BRICS, the programme spans diverse cultures, from Africa to the Caribbean to South Asia. Discovering Ofala: Umudioka 2023 (Nigeria, 2023, dir. Tochukwu Nwaiwu) immerses audiences in the Igbo Ofala festival, where community leaders honour individuals for their service. Festival del Caribe. Fiesta del Fuego (Cuba, 2024, dir. Enrique Fumero) highlights Santiago de Cuba's annual Caribbean Festival, a vivid tribute to the region's heritage of music, dance and ritual. India's contribution comes through Therukoothu (2025), directed by student filmmaker Vijay Bhaskaran, which offers a window into the vibrant folk street theatre of South India — an art form known for its dramatic performances, colourful costumes and deep cultural resonance. The screenings will run from 15:00 to 17:30 (GMT+3). Organisers note that the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre, launched in 2024 by the library in collaboration with TV BRICS, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening humanitarian ties while promoting cultural diplomacy, science and education on a global scale. Chris Martin plans to keep Coldplays kiss cam at concerts despite Astronomer CEO 'debacle'
London [UK], August 20 (ANI): Coldplay frontman Chris Martin seems to have no plans to give up the famous "kiss cam" at the band's shows, even after it led to a viral scandal involving former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company's ex-HR head, Kristin Cabot. According to Page Six, Martin, during Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" World Tour stop in Hull, England, addressed the crowd about the incident that unfolded last month in Massachusetts. "We've been doing [the Jumbotron] for a long time, and it is only recently that it became a... yeah," Martin told the crowd, hinting at the viral incident. "Life throws you lemons, and you've got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you," he added. The singer also interacted with fans, reading out signs from the crowd. Spotting one fan who had attended multiple shows, Martin thanked him for attending the show "three times in three months." "You were at that Boston gig," the "Fix You" singer said. "Well, OK, thank you for coming again after that debacle," he added, referring to the moment when Byron and Cabot were spotted canoodling on the "kiss cam" during the band's tour stop at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts last month. The whole drama began on July 16 when Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot appeared on the "kiss cam" during a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium. Byron was seen putting his arms around Kristin, and both appeared to quickly hide their faces after realizing they were being shown on the big screen. The woman was seen briskly covering her face, while Byron ducked out of sight. Their awkward reaction, as they tried to dodge the camera, fueled speculation of an affair after Martin joked from the stage, "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." The clip exploded on social media, forcing Astronomer to place Byron and Cabot on leave. Within a day, Byron resigned from his role as CEO, as per Page Six. (ANI)
