World No. 3 Alexander Zverev of Germany cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Marcos Giron in the first round Wednesday at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Germany. Overpowering Giron with his serve, Zverev had 10 aces and never faced a break point while winning 28 of 34 points on first serve (82 percent).
11th-ranked Daniil Medvedev of Russia also defeated France's Quentin Halys 6-2, 7-5 in the second round. With just six unforced errors (compared to 21 for Halys) and three of five break points converted, Medvedev controlled play while winning 60 percent of points in the match.
Eighth-seeded Karen Khachanov of Russia and Alex Michelsen found the winner's circle as well.
HSBC Championships
Second seed Jack Draper of the UK got the best of Australia's Alexei Popyrin, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (5) in Round 2 play in London. The match took 2 hours, 13 minutes and Draper won just 51% of total points. With 14 aces and 33 winners, the World No. 6 outlasted Popyrin in a grueling slugfest.
Fourth-seeded Holger Rune of Denmark rallied to a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Mackenzie McDonald. After a slow start, Rune settled in and dominated the stat columns throughout the remainder of the match. The ninth-ranked player in the world had the advantage in winners (30-22), aces (13-3), break points converted (5-2) and net points won (11-6).
Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut and Brandon Nakashima were also winners in Round of 16 action.

Juventus extend Adidas partnership to 2037 in $468 million deal
ROME - Juventus have extended their technical partnership with German sportswear giant Adidas until June 2037, in a deal worth 408 million euros ($468 million) over a decade, the Serie A club said in a statement. The current agreement between the two parties, which runs until June 2027, will remain unchanged, the Italian club said. The new contract will then take effect from the 2027-2028 season and cover all Juventus teams until the end of the 2036-2037 season. "This renewal fills us with pride and testifies to the synergy between these two great companies," said Maurizio Scanavino, Juventus Chief Executive Officer. Juventus, famed for their black and white shirts, said the valuation for the new agreement does not include additional royalties for exceeding certain sales volumes or variable components linked to sporting results. "We're delighted to extend our partnership with the most decorated club in Italian football for a further 10 years," said Sam Handy, General Manager of Adidas Football. Juventus have won the Italian league title more than any other rival club. Juventus and Adidas joined forces from the 2015/2016 season. The German sportswear group has a long-term partnership in place with English Premier League club Manchester United which runs until 2035, and also works with other teams including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Juventus said last month that U.S. carmaker Jeep will pay 69 million euros to become its main shirt sponsor until June 2028. Ingle named in Wales squad for Euros despite no games since September MANCHESTER, England - Former Chelsea midfielder Sophie Ingle was named on Thursday in Wales' 23-player squad for next month's Women's European Championship, despite being sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury since September. "We needed to make sure that Sophie Ingle was in a good place, she's still on her path to full fitness but she's in a position now where she can contribute," Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson said. The 33-year-old, who has been released by Chelsea, tore her ACL in a pre-season friendly against Feyenoord last September, but Wilkinson said the former Wales skipper who has 141 caps showed enough in training to merit a place in the squad. "I don't want to get into (what role Ingle will play) specifically because Sophie's pushing, she's looking really good in training. She made me look foolish yesterday, I should never jump into training anymore, it's not good for my ego." Wales will be making their first appearance at a major tournament at the Euros in Switzerland and they marked the occasion by announcing the squad from the summit of Snowdon, the country's highest peak. Angharad James will captain a squad that includes her Seattle Reign midfield teammate Jess Fishlock, who is 38 and Wales' most-capped player with 161 appearances and 47 goals. "Jess is going to be the face, the name of Wales. She knows that," Wilkinson said. Gattuso replaces Luciano Spalletti, who was sacked this month following a 3-0 defeat by Norway in a World Cup qualifier. He officially departed after overseeing his final match, a 2-0 victory against Moldova. "It's a dream come true, and I certainly hope to be up to the task. I know the job won't be easy, but nothing in life is easy," said Gattuso, who recently left Croatian club Hajduk Split after a third-placed finish in the country's top flight.
