JoJo Siwa Reacts To Mom Bleaching Hair
While she's had blonde hair since her early TV days, it turned out that she's really a natural brunette. JoJo's mom, Jessalynn Siwa, started dyeing her hair when she was just 2 years old.
The revelation about JoJo's true hair color came in April 2024 via a viral tweet, and not long after, the internet had discovered receipts confirming it was true.
One resurfaced clip from Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition showed Jessalynn dyeing a then-9-year-old JoJo's hair. "Nothing's off limits when it comes to doing what I think will benefit JoJo," she said. "She's the Rapunzel of 2013.'In another scene, JoJo confirmed that she'd been dyeing her hair since she was around "two, maybe one-and-a-half.""I'm not a natural blonde," she added. "I'm actually a natural brown. I get brown roots, so I have to dye it so it looks like I'm a natural blonde."
Obviously, Jessalynn received a lot of criticism for that — but JoJo is standing by her.
She defended her mom on the June 6 episode of the Rosebud With Gyles Brandreth podcast.
JoJo said, "If, right now, I was to be miserable, sad, unhappy with my life, unhappy with my career and ... if I was to be like no, I'm an all natural brown, I want my hair normal, I want to be clean-cut, then I would say, oh my mom didn't do what she was supposed to do."
JoJo said her mom did exactly what she was supposed to do because it ensured her success. "Without her, I would never be doing what I want to be doing," the "Karma" singer continued.
Of course, she realizes her opinion might change with age. "I am honest when I say my brain is not fully developed," JoJo, 22, acknowledged. "I know my thoughts are probably gonna change on my childhood and how I feel in the next three years — you know, as a woman your brain's developed when you're 25. But I think I'm definitely ahead, of course, in life when it comes to brain development, but where I'm at right now, I absolutely love my childhood, and I wouldn't change a thing about it at all."
"She did everything right," JoJo insisted.
Well, then! You can listen to the rest of the episode here.

32 Things That Happened One Year Ago That Will Seriously Warp Your Brain
The summer of 2024 feels like it was, as the Titanic meme says, 84 years ago. Looking back, it truly was another world/universe, so let's look at what life looked like way back when... Just one year ago, the summer of 2024 kicked off with the Four Seasons Orlando Baby. Moo Deng was born. She fell off hard, no offense. And everyone was trying to do that JoJo Siwa "Karma" dance. Just one year ago, Biden announced he was dropping out. Kamala announced she was stepping in. And Charli XCX had this super viral "kamala IS brat" tweet: "Brat summer" feels like another dimension. A little over 365 days ago, the Paris Olympics kicked off with a Lady Gaga performance. Hot, nerdy pommel horse guy entered our lives last summer. Simone Biles also cemented herself as the greatest of all time. Simpler times! There was the *blessed* pole vaulter. We were sharing the gun guy memes. I personally saw myself more in him: And we had Raygun. I miss her. Oh, and Tom Cruise had that dramatic Olympic entrance/exit thing. In the summer of 2024, just one year ago, Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter were still dating. "Espresso" was the song of the summer, something we unfortunately don't have now. Wicked wasn't even out yet. And everyone was talking about falling out of coconut trees. Like, this is the stuff people were tweeting: Just one year ago, the hottest MAGA accessory was a bandage on the ear. Jen and Ben officially filed for divorce. And Justin Timberlake got a DUI, and the "ruin the tour" meme was born. Believe it or not, "Hawk Tuah Girl" has only been in your life for a year. She became *popular* in summer 2024. "Very demure, very mindful" was *the* saying. JD Vance couch memes were all over your timeline. And Tim Walz was announced as Kamala's running mate (he also made JD Vance couch jokes). Just ONE YEAR AGO, Lil Jon was the star of the DNC. He did that 50-state roll call. Obama made a Trump small penis joke. And lastly, hope was in the air, like people were truly libbing out. What a time to be alive.

Selena Gomez recalls 'sweet' origins of Taylor Swift friendship
Selena Gomez believes the "best thing" to come out of her relationship with Nick Jonas was her friendship with Taylor Swift. The Only Murders in the Building hitmaker began dating the Jonas Brothers star when she was 15 years old, around the same time the Blank Space singer was 18 and romancing Nick's sibling and bandmate Joe Jonas, and the two stars grew even closer when their respective relationships came to an end. Speaking on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, Selena, now 33, said: 'Taylor and I dated the Jonas Brothers. I dated Nick and she dated Joe. "And everything was, it was cute, we were young. We all know and love each other now and it's so cute. "We don't know what we were doing — She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet.' Selena noted the pair went on to become "best friends" as they 'bonded over the break-up, as girls do.' She added: 'And then we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after and here we are now 16 years later." The Emilia Perez star - who is engaged to Benny Blanco - recalled how Taylor played her 2008 singer Love Story to her before it was released to the public and she was blown away by the track. She said: 'I believe Love Story was the first song she had ever played me and it wasn't released yet. 'Yeah, I was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly, it was just one of those songs I instantly heard and thought this is one of the most beautiful songs ever... "It was so sweet. She was like, 'Okay I just want to play you this song but just like you know, I don't know it's going to be the first single, I think, I think.' And just hearing her say those little thoughts and just listening to it. Yeah, she is a chameleon, she's incredible.' Selena and Taylor, 35, have both previously spoken of their storng bond. Taylor previously told The Wall Street Journal in 2020: 'I knew from when I met [Selena] I would always have her back. 'In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don't know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.' And the Rare Beauty founder told how they "clicked instantly" She said: 'That was my girl. We both went through s*** at the same time. She taught me a lot about how I should be treated at a young age.' Selena previously praised the Karma hitmaker as "one of the greatest songwriters" when she ran through some of the songs on her 'At Home with Selena Gomez' playlist, which included her friend's hit track Lover. Of the song, she said: "There's nothing really to say other than this is another song that shows her ability to take it back to the old, to also combine it with her challenging to do new things with her music. I think that's as pure as that - I'll always, not even biased, just think she is one of the greatest songwriters."
