'Both patients and staff search for health, happiness, and love while the [Russia-started] war echoes through the lime green corridors' of Kuyalnyk Sanatorium, reads a film synopsis. 'Every summer, people of all ages arrive in their thousands at a huge ex-Soviet treatment center in Odesa on the southern coast of Ukraine. A time capsule from the '70s, built in the brutalist style of the era, it still offers therapeutic treatments from the glory days of the Soviet Union. The main attraction is the mysterious mud which is believed to cure infertility, chronic ailments, and a myriad of other health problems.'
But beyond the physical health goals, many guests are really searching for happiness and love above all else, Sanatorium shows as O'Rourke and the camera of cinematographer Denys Melnyk follow them to tell their stories. As such, the doc is also a declaration of love for the Ukrainian people, their spirit, and their resilience.
Sanatorium was produced by Venom Films by IFTA-winning Ken Wardrop and Andrew Freedman (His & Hers, Making the Grade), along with Samantha Corr. Sanatorium was co-produced by 2332 Films Ukraine and made with support from Screen Ireland, BBC Storyville, MetFilm Sales, France TV, and Creative Europe. The film was edited by John Murphy (editor of An Cailín Ciúin), with Denys Melnyk (Militantropos) as director of photography. Irish Distributor Eclipse Pictures will release the film in Irish cinemas on Sept. 5.
Sanatorium had its World Premiere at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen in the main international competition in March before playing the festival circuit.

Quentin Tarantino reveals what his ‘best' movie is
Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has revealed which of his movies he thinks is the best – and it's probably not the one you'd expect. The American director has two Academy Awards to his name: one for the screenplay of 'Pulp Fiction' in 1994 and another for the screenplay of 'Django Unchained' 18 years later. But neither is what he considers to be his best – or even his favorite – movie. Rather, he says 2009's 'Inglourious Basterds' is his best piece of work, while his favorite is his most recent feature film 'Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.' He made the comments during an interview with 'The Church of Tarantino' podcast in an episode released on Friday. Asked to reveal which of his movies he loves the most, the 62-year-old said: ''Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood' is my favorite, 'Inglourious Basterds' is my best, but I think 'Kill Bill' is the ultimate Quentin movie, like nobody else could have made it.' Set in Nazi-occupied France and starring Brad Pitt and Christoph Waltz, 'Inglourious Basterds' follows the exploits of a group of American Jewish soldiers who plan to assassinate Nazi leaders. Tarantino went on to say that 'every aspect' of his two-volume 'Kill Bill' story, which sees Uma Thurman star as a former assassin hellbent on vengeance after waking from a coma, was taken from his imagination, loves and passions. 'So I think 'Kill Bill' is the movie I was born to make. I think 'Inglourious Basterds' is my masterpiece but 'Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood' is my favorite,' he said. Some of his output also came in for criticism. When asked if there was anything he would change, Tarantino said he 'miscalculated a couple of things along the way.' 'The only thing that bites my a** is just a few little shots in both 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Pulp Fiction',' he said, adding that both featured some 'amateur sh*t.' While he 'loves' both movies, he said they were made early in his career when 'I didn't know what I didn't know.' He said he didn't want to point out his mistakes, but mentioned equipment in a shot, the shadow of a boom and the mark of an X where the actors should have been standing. 'It takes you at least two movies to figure out how to do it,' he joked. During the interview, Tarantino said his latest project, 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth,' a follow up to 'Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,' has just started filming. 'One Upon a Time… in Hollywood' starred Leonardo DiCaprio as fading TV actor Rick Dalton, while his stunt double Cliff Booth was portrayed by Pitt. Together, they try to recapture their success and fame. Tarantino previously told CNN that the next movie he directs would be his last. It had been rumored that this would be a script called 'The Movie Critic' but he scrapped the idea last year. Explaining why, he said he lost interest in bringing the story to the big screen. 'I pulled the plug on it,' he said. 'I was so excited about the writing but I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote once we were in pre-production, partly because I'm using the skill set that I learned from 'Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,'' he said, adding that 'The Movie Critic' would have been set in a similar place and time.

YouTube reveals announcers, personalities for Chiefs vs. Chargers Week 1 game in Brazil
The Kansas City Chiefs-Los Angeles Chargers Week 1 game, streaming exclusively on YouTube Friday, Sept. 5 from Brazil, will be a non-traditional viewing experience with a somewhat familiar broadcasting crew. Rich Eisen will handle play-by-play duties with Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner joining him as the analyst. Warner, whose role was first reported by The Athletic in July, works for Westwood One as its lead game analyst for its "Monday Night Football" radio productions. Eisen returned to host ESPN's "SportsCenter" on Monday, Aug. 18 and his eponymous show will be part of the network's direct-to-consumer offerings starting this fall. YouTube is highlighting its content creators by having former Central Florida kicker turned online personality Donald "Deestroying" De La Haye join NFL Media's Stacey Dales as the sideline reporters for the game. Kay Adams will be onsite to host the pregame and postgame shows, with former quarterback Cam Newton – who now hosts a popular podcast on YouTube – alongside her. Ex-NFLers Derek Carr, Brandon Marshall and Tyrann Mathieu will join the pregame show from NFL Network's studios in Los Angeles, as will fantasy football creator Peter Overzet. The pregame show begins on the NFL's official YouTube page at 7 p.m. ET with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. YouTube said it will announce more content crossovers from its creators in the coming weeks. Watch-along streams with various types of personalities are one format that is expected to be revealed.

JADE Calls Out ‘Privileged' Matty Healy for Not Speaking Up About Politics: ‘Disappointing'
JADE isn't holding back when it comes to speaking up about her beliefs — and that includes calling out those who choose not to do the same about important issues. In an interview with The Guardian, the former Little Mix star shared her belief that it's impossible to separate pop music from social and political developments. In her case, that's meant standing up for the LGBTQ community and advocating for Palestinian people who have been suffering for years amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, to name a couple of the causes she's championed. More from Billboard With Her Debut Album, JADE Says 'There's Nothing Holding Me Back' From Spilling Truth The 1975 at Glastonbury 2025: 5 Best Moments From The Band's Stunning Headline Set Jade Thirlwall Leads Her Mighty Hoopla Crowd in an Anti-J.K. Rowling Chant 'I don't think you can be a pop artist and cover your eyes,' she told the publication, before name-checking another star whose approach she disagrees with. 'I saw Matty Healy say that he doesn't want to be political, which I found disappointing.' The piece comes a couple of months after The 1975 frontman made headlines for his comments during the band's 2025 Glastonbury set. Though Healy has previously referenced politics in songs such as 2018's 'Love It If We Made It,' the rocker had told his crowd at the time, 'We honestly don't want our legacy to be one of politics … You can go out into the world and there's loads of politics everywhere. We don't need more politics. We need more love and friendship.' JADE, however, thinks that Healy needs to re-examine why he's able to make such a statement in the first place. 'It's very easy for someone who's white and straight and very privileged to say that,' she added to the publication. 'Good for you, hun!' The now soloist is currently gearing up to release That's Showbiz Baby!, her long-awaited debut album about the highs and lows of finding global fame on The X Factor all the way back in 2011. JADE's brazenness concerning the issues she's passionate about translates into the songs on the album; on one track, 'IT girl,' she gets brutally honest about how restricted she felt by the music industry during her time with Little Mix. 'We all know what it's about,' she recently told Billboard of the track. 'It's got a certain cheekiness — I'm a laugh-at-my-trauma kind of girl, and I really enjoy writing music that ruffles people's feathers because that's what art should do. Those are my experiences, and now that I'm on my own, there's nothing holding me back from telling that truth.' That's Showbiz Baby! arrives Sept. 12.
