Hosts of The Ins & Outs Podcast gave their expert advice

A listener wrote into The Ins & Outs Podcast, which focuses on all things interiors or exteriors, and asked what to do about their insect problem.
They asked: 'How do you keep flies outside with the door open in a stylish, not plastic way?'
The question was then answered by podcast hosts interior design expert Jojo Barr and garden and landscape design guru Pollyanna Wilkinson.
They shared: 'I'd say to effectively keep flies outside your house you need to prioritise sanitation and remove food and breeding sources.
'If you've got food left out, the only reason flies are coming into your house is because they can smell food.
'If they can smell trash containers.

'Have you got wet cat food on show cat? You know dog food.
'The only reason they're coming in is because they can smell your trash.'
However, they did clarify that if you're 'a very clean person, you've covered your food, you've cleaned your spills, you don't leave any pet waste out, and you dispose of your rubbish', there can be some exceptions.
The experts offered up one solution which can help: beaded nets that can be placed across your door, similar to what you get in butchers.
However, if you are looking for a more aesthetically pleasing solution you can try a 'fly repelling plant'.
They advised: 'There are certain plants, like basil, mint, lavender.
'You can hang all sorts of lavender around the house, like little posies.'

Worm trick
Entomologist Darragh Ennis took to TikTok to share his advice for getting rid of the pesky bugs - called fungus gnats - as he admitted they even annoy him.
They're also "really hard to get rid of", even with chemicals, particularly when they take hold of your house plants.
But an invisible method of keeping them at bay works a treat, Darragh explained, and they're called nematodes.
While you've "probably never heard of them", they're "little microscopic worms that live in the soil" and are "probably the most common animal on the planet", but are invisible to the naked eye.

They get rid of the flies by crawling inside of them and killing them from the inside out.
It might be "gruesome" but it's an entirely natural way of killing the bugs.
You can even order the nematodes on the Internet, and they come in a small packet.
Once they're arrived, put them in a watering can, add water and pour onto your house plants.

While even when she was getting ready, she donned a white jumper with the words 'BRIDE' emblazoned on the back. For the actual ceremony, Dani dazzled in a £10,000 designer gown by Suzanne Neville, before changing into a stunning lace minidress for the raucous reception. Speaking on her joint podcast with Danny, Dani revealed she was keeping her first wedding dress a surprise from her dad until the big day to honour a special tradition. 'Have you not seen that first look when the dad sees their daughter in their dress and that? Oh, it's lovely,' she shared. 'Yeah, your dad's not meant to see it – it's a moment for the dad as well!' White rose petals lined the aisle, with floral sculptures and candles creating a stunning backdrop which the bride and groom shared a kiss in front of. The fun was kicked off by father of the bride Danny, who led a wedding breakfast chant of the rude West Ham anthem, 'Bowen's on fire and he's sh***ing Dani Dyer,' to the 1997 hit Freed from Desire, changing the lyrics to say 'married'. While Dani's sister Sunnie was one of six bridesmaids, who all wowed in matching one shoulder pink dresses. The 18-year-old also had a role during the ceremony as she read a poem from Sex and The City's wedding scene, which went: 'His hello was the end of her endings. Her laugh was their first step down the aisle. His hand would be hers to hold forever. 'His forever was as simple as her smile. He said she was what was missing. She said instantly she knew. She was a question to be answered. And his answer was 'I do'.' After Dani and Jarrod exchanged their vows, the couple were quick to indulge in their huge wedding cake, with the happy couple seen lifting a huge slice in a fun video. The reception also boasted a live band who serenaded Dani as she shared a sweet father-daughter dance with Dani. Speaking to Heat magazine earlier this week, Dani said: 'I have finally done my table plans now. Until you are in there writing names out, making sure you have tables of 10, it's the most stressful experience ever - that's the only thing I've not enjoyed.' Dani also revealed she will take on a double-barrel surname after the wedding, becoming Dyer-Bowen. She said: 'I am going to keep the Dyer - I am going to do Dani Dyer-Bowen just because of my work. I feel like if I am Dani Bowen, it takes that thing away from me. We are double-barrelling it.'

Premier League footballer who beat cancer reveals he's expecting his first child in emotional announcement on social media
David Brooks cried tears of joy after being told he is to become a dad — something the Wales forward feared might not happen following his 2021 cancer diagnosis. The Bournemouth winger's wife Flora revealed last weekend she is pregnant, with the pair expecting their first baby in November. It is the news the couple thought would never come. Brooks was diagnosed with stage-two Hodgkin lymphoma nearly four years ago and, although he announced he was cancer-free in May 2022, the long-term effects of the disease in terms of fathering children were unclear. So, it was with the upmost joy that Flora shared a video on Instagram on Sunday showing a sonogram of the couple's imminent arrival alongside a Bournemouth shirt with 'Daddy' printed on the back. 'Obviously when I was diagnosed you have those conversations and there were never any guarantees that I would be able to have children in the future,' said Brooks, who has linked up with the Wales squad for their World Cup qualifying double header against Liechtenstein and Belgium. 'There was a chance it wouldn't have been possible and I was really lucky that it came naturally. After my treatment things went back to normal so, of course, I was really happy. 'We were trying so it wasn't a massive shock, but there were a few tears. 'We always wanted kids at some point, but the situation kind of took it out of hands a little bit. 'So it's obviously very nice for everything to come naturally and progress into being a family. 'We're really looking forward to it, even though she is going through everything that comes with being pregnant.' Brooks was the Wales hero in their last World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia in March. His equaliser in the sixth minute of stoppage time secured a precious 1-1 draw, making it four points from the opening two qualifiers and extending Craig Bellamy's unbeaten start as Dragons manager to eight games. 'I think it instils a little bit of fear into who we are playing,' said Brooks. 'They know we are not going to give up, even if it's the 96th minute. It's a massive positive. 'If felt like a big goal in North Macedonia and it makes the table looks a lot better for us. I feel like we are on a good journey.' Brooks says he is now in the 'old box' at 27 with the Wales squad having changed so much in recent years. Gareth Bale and Joe Allen are retired and captain Aaron Ramsey, the third standout member of the team which reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, is recovering from another injury setback. Brooks said: 'This is probably the first campaign we have had without them. 'There's a lot of young talent coming through and a lot of lads, including myself, who have been waiting for an opportunity to showcase ourselves.
