This initiative aims to tackle the growing problem of abandoned vehicles in Penang, which affects both safety and the environment. Transport Minister Anthony Loke confirmed that discussions were held with MBPP to explore long-term solutions. 'I recently received a delegation from MBPP in Kuala Lumpur to discuss cooperation in expanding the implementation of AATF in the northern part of Peninsular Malaysia,' he said in a Facebook post. The proposed facility will streamline vehicle disposal through the e-Dereg system, eliminating the need for owners to visit JPJ counters. AATF, licensed by the Department of Environment, ensures eco-friendly and efficient processing. Loke praised MBPP's commitment to sustainability and public welfare. The collaboration marks a significant step in managing abandoned vehicles while enhancing urban cleanliness and safety.

Road closures for IJM Allianz Duo Highway Run on Aug 3
KUALA LUMPUR: Several routes along the New Pantai Expressway (NEP) and Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA) will be temporarily closed from early Sunday morning for the IJM Allianz Duo Highway Challenge 2025 run. He added that full marathon participants will race along both major expressways, beginning by heading towards Templer and Kuchai Lama before turning back to the starting point at Sunway Pyramid. 'The affected routes on BESRAYA include Kuchai Lama, Sungai Besi, Salak Selatan, Plaza Tol Loke Yew, Jalan Istana, Jalan Cheras, Pandan Indah, Maluri, Jalan Pandan 1 and the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2). 'The affected routes on the NPE include the Kampung Pasir interchange, Pantai Sentral Park, Kuchai Maju, Sungai Besi and the Kuchai U-turn,' he said in a statement today. Muhamed Usuf Jan advised the public to plan their journey, use alternative routes and comply with instructions from police personnel on duty along the race route. 'Police personnel and highway traffic staff will ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the event. Any inconvenience caused is regretted, and the cooperation from all parties is appreciated,' he said. Meanwhile, according to the race website the 42km run is slated to begin at 3 am; the 21km run at 5 am; the 10km run at 5.30 am; and the 5km run at 6.50 am. - Bernama

STUTTGART: Mercedes-Benz has announced a steep 56 percent decline in half-year profits, attributing the drop to weak sales, rising tariffs, and restructuring costs. NPE, Besraya Temporary Closure For IJM Duo Highway Challenge Run 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Sungai Besi Expressway (Besraya) will be temporarily closed from 1 am to 11 am on Sunday, Aug 3, for the IJM Duo Highway Challenge Run 2025. On the NPE, the closure will affect the section from Kilometer (KM) 1.8 at the Kewajipan Roundabout (Subang Jaya) to KM 11 towards Bangsar, and from Kuchai Lama Entrepreneurs Park to Pantai Dalam Toll Plaza in both directions. The Besraya closure will span from the Kuchai Lama Interchange to Jalan Pandan 1 at KM 21.9, heading towards the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) in both directions.
