'VERY CLASSY' Aidan O'Brien superstar Camille Pissarro has been retired with immediate effect.
The French Derby winner injured his leg when finishing fourth to Delacroix in last month's Coral-Eclipse.

The news comes as it was confirmed O'Brien's multiple Group 2 winner Diego Velazquez would be retired at the end of the season.
Three-year-old colt Camille Pissarro was entered for October's Arc de Triomphe, where he was a 33-1 chance.
His career ends with three wins from 11 runs and more than £1.1million in prize money.
According to a post on X from the Racing Post, Camille Pissarro suffered a hairline fracture to his fetlock, which is a bit like a horse's ankle.
He was beaten just two-and-a-half lengths by Delacroix, who nutted Ombudsman in an all-time Sandown thriller.
Those two will lock horns again in next Wednesday's blockbuster Juddmonte at York.
Jockey Christophe Soumillon reported after the Coral-Eclipse that Camille Pissarro had hung left-handed on the run-in.
While a vet confirmed afterwards that the colt had lost his left-fore shoe.
A Group 1 winner of the Jean-Luc Lagardere last season, Camille Pissarro, a son of Wootton Bassett, returned from a 174-day break to finish a half-length second to Big Gossey at the Curragh in March.
He then went down just other a length to stablemate Henri Matisse when finishing third in the French 2000 Guineas in two months later.
He proved he was good enough to mix at the top table again though when showing a rapid turn of foot to claim the £700,000 first-place prize in the French Derby over 1m2f on June 1.
O'Brien, who has seen two big-name horses removed from his yard in recent days, said after that win: "I'm delighted for everyone.
"Ryan (Moore, jockey) gave Camille Pissarro an incredible ride.
"Christophe was delighted with him the last day and told us to come here with him, and what a ride Ryan gave him.
"He's a very classy horse. He was obviously a Group 1 winner on Arc day last year.
"It was a great run in the French 2,000 Guineas last time behind Henri Matisse, so to come back and do this is incredible.
"It's a difficult race to win because you need a horse with a lot of speed, and they have to get a mile and a quarter, but it's a very important race and it makes him a very important horse now."

Padres scratch RHP Michael King (knee), place him on IL

August 14 - The San Diego Padres placed standout right-hander Michael King on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to left knee inflammation. King, 30, was slated to start Friday night's showdown against the host Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres lead the Dodgers by one game in the National League West race. San Diego recalled right-hander Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. The Padres didn't immediately announce a new starter for Friday's game. King (4-2, 2.81) just returned from an injury that sidelined him for nearly three months. He gave up two runs and four hits in two-plus innings against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. King's previous appearance for San Diego was May 18. King was placed on the 15-day IL on May 25 due to a lack of strength in his pitching shoulder. He was later diagnosed with a thoracic nerve issue and eventually transferred to the 60-day list. King, the club's Opening Day starter, made 10 starts before the injury. The Padres acquired King from the New York Yankees following the 2023 season as part of the package in which Juan Soto went to the Bronx. King went 13-9 with a 2.95 ERA in 30 starts and one relief appearance last season. He was 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA in the postseason, including striking out 12 in seven shutout innings in a win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of the National League wild-card series. Vasquez, 26, is 3-5 with a 3.93 ERA in 22 starts for the Padres this season. --Field Level Media

Watters thanks 'unbelievable' fans

Max Watters has thanked the "unbelievable" Dundee United fans after they watched their side suffer an agonising Conference League exit at the hands of Rapid Watters scored twice in the first half of the second leg to give United a 4-2 aggregate lead, but Jim Goodwin's weary side conceded twice before going on to lose on penalties in front of a raucous sold-out Tannadice."They were unbelievable," Watters said of the United fans. "They were there from minute one to the very end. Outstanding. "We have to say thank you to them because it helps us when we're down, when we're struggling, when we're tired."

Horse racing tips: ‘Loads more to come with Oisin Murphy in charge' – Templegate's 9-4 Friday NAP

TEMPLEGATE'S tips for Friday's racing are below - as he looks to build the bank for York next week. Back a horse by clicking their odds below. SUNNY SMILE (3.05 Newbury, nap) She was much improved when winning at Hamilton last time with Oisin Murphy in the saddle for the first time. The former champ stays on board today for this handicap debut off a fair mark of 81 and there's a lot more to come. FLOWERHEAD (4.45 Newbury, nb) Can blossom in the St Hugh's Stakes at the Berkshire track. She has run two mighty races at Ascot this season. Charlie Clover's filly was beaten just over a length when second in the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting and was back for a close-up fifth in the Princess Margaret Stakes last time. Dropping back to 5f in this lesser grade can see her head in front again. CALENDAR GIRL (2.40 Epsom, treble) There was a lot to like about the way she scooted home to win on debut at Newbury 22 days ago. Owen Burrows isn't particularly known for first-time-out winners so there should be more to come. CANCAN IN THE RAIN (6.25 Newmarket, Lucky 15) He got the job done well at Southwell last time and has decent form on fast-ground turf too so should be right at home.
