Hampden DA's court program marks 9th milestone with grads
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A special graduation was held on Thursday for two adults who have turned their lives around for the better.
These two individuals graduated from the Hampden District Attorney's 'Emerging Adult Court of Hope' Program. One of the men participated remotely as he is now living in Florida.
The program provides young adults aged 18-24 with an opportunity to break free from the cycles of adversity and incarceration.
22News spoke with one of the graduates about his takeaways from the program. 'Keeps you out of trouble, keeps you functional, you got the support there, the building, you got support of probationers, it's a really good program, it's a really good program if you want to change your life it's a really good program,' said Hendrick Allende of Springfield.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni told 22News, 'It's just a very proud moment to see these two young men grateful, positive and headed in a very good direction in their lives.'
Their success marks another significant milestone for the program, which has now graduated nine participants since its inception five years ago.

Dozens of students graduate Central High School in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The class of 2025 at Central High School walked down the aisle Thursday at Symphony Hall. Mass. education secretary addresses graduation policy changes in Holyoke Friends and family members gathered to celebrate their new beginnings. 'I'm proud that I was able to push myself this far. My parents don't speak much English, and they brought my siblings and I here when we were younger. They always encouraged us to be proud of ourselves', says Roda Nshim Irimana, graduate of Central High School. Currently, the incoming freshman college class has picked several majors, including Nursing and Computer Science. Many students are grateful for their time at Central and are looking forward to their next chapter, whether it be at college or trade school. Springfield to honor Malcom X's legacy and impact with new mural
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A new mural will be unveiled in the city of Springfield this weekend. Springfield Pride Parade Committee expands Pride festivities to support the youth The mural will honor the late Malcolm X, and will be unveiled at the mosque that the civil rights leader himself opened on Oak Street in the year 1958. This mural is part of an ongoing effort from city organizers to honor and celebrate the impact that black leaders have had in their community. The event will begin on Saturday, June 7th, at noon and will be hosted by Representative Bud Williams and Muralist Richard Johnson.
