PepsiCo India and The Social Lab Scale Sustainable Waste Solutions Across Four Cities with ‘Tidy Trails'

Tidy Trails, a community-driven initiative, focuses on responsible plastic waste management through collection, segregation, and recycling Tidy Trails launched in New Delhi and Pune and extended in Agra and Guwahati PepsiCo India, in collaboration with The Social Lab (TSL), has announced the expansion of its flagship plastic circularity initiative, Tidy Trails-a community-driven program focused on responsible plastic waste management through collection, segregation, and recycling to drive long-term environmental impact. PepsiCo India's Special Mobile Van to collect post-consumer plastic waste from local establishments The initiative has now been launched in New Delhi's Chandni Chowk and Pune's FC College Road, with further expansion in Agra and Guwahati, building on the success of earlier editions in these cities. This strategic rollout reinforces PepsiCo India's commitment to fostering cleaner, more sustainable urban environments. Guided by its Partnership of Progress philosophy, Tidy Trails brings together local administrations, market associations, shopkeepers, and consumers to drive meaningful behaviour change around plastic waste segregation and recycling-creating a collaborative model for circularity at the community level. As part of the initiative, a special mobile van will be deployed to collect post-consumer plastic waste from local establishments. The effort aims to encourage citizens to maintain cleaner surroundings and foster a culture of tidiness-setting positive examples and inspiring other communities to adopt responsible waste practices. At the heart of the Tidy Trails initiative is a powerful idea: transforming plastic waste into purpose. Collected plastic is repurposed into functional items such as benches and chairs, which are installed in public spaces like parks, community centres, and marketplaces. These installations not only enhance the utility and aesthetics of these areas but also serve as daily reminders of the value of sustainable living. Through on-ground campaigns, informative signage, and interactive community engagement, Tidy Trails is driving visible and lasting behavioral change-ensuring that plastic waste is not discarded, but reimagined into something meaningful for the community. Speaking on the expansion, Ms. Yashika Singh, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Sustainability Head, PepsiCo India and South Asia, said, 'The launch of Tidy Trails in Delhi and Pune, along with its expansion in Agra and Guwahati, underscores our commitment to scaling sustainable, community-led solutions for post-consumer plastic waste management. Guided by our Partnership of Progress philosophy, we believe meaningful change is only possible through collective action. The success of Tidy Trails in Agra and Guwahati-driven by strong community engagement and support from local administrations-has laid a solid foundation for this next phase. We're proud to collaborate with partners like The Social Lab and local municipalities to deliver real, on-ground impact.' Mr. Sahil Arora, Chief Executive Officer, The Social Lab (TSL), said, 'We are proud to partner with PepsiCo India for this noble initiative. At TSL, we are committed to protecting the environment and supporting circular economy efforts through programs like Tidy Trails. Plastic waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges today, but when reused and recycled, it can offer valuable solutions. Through this initiative, we aim to bring together communities, businesses, and policymakers to encourage the responsible use, recycling, and reuse of plastic.' Since its inception, the Tidy Trails initiative has collected over 68,000 kg of plastic waste, driven by active participation from local shopkeepers and communities. The program currently facilitates the daily collection of approximately 274 kg in Agra and 386 kg in Guwahati-demonstrating consistent, grassroots-level impact. With a reach of over 1.9 lakh people, the initiative continues to drive behavioral change around responsible plastic waste management through sustained community engagement and awareness efforts. As Tidy Trails expands its footprint, it stands as a compelling example of how collective action-across local communities, municipal bodies, and socially responsible businesses-can accelerate the transition toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. Morten Harket Diagnosed With Parkinson's Disease: ‘I Don't Feel Like Singing'

Last Updated: Morten Harket didn't say exactly when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's, but explained that he takes medicine to control his symptoms. Morten Harket, lead singer of the iconic Norwegian band A-ha, has revealed that he is living with Parkinson's disease. The Take On Me hitmaker shared the news on the band's official website, though he did not specify when he was diagnosed. Harket explained that he is currently managing his symptoms with medication. In addition, he underwent surgery in the United States last year, during which doctors implanted tiny electrodes in his brain. These are connected to a small device in his chest as part of a treatment known as deep brain stimulation (DBS), which has helped stabilise his condition. While the treatment has been largely successful, Harket acknowledged that the disease has impacted his voice. The singer said, 'I've got no problem accepting the diagnosis. With time, I've taken to heart my 94-year-old father's attitude to the way the organism gradually surrenders: 'I use whatever works. ' Part of me wanted to reveal it. It's my need for peace and quiet to work that has been stopping me. I'm trying the best I can to prevent my entire system from going into decline. It's a difficult balancing act between taking the medication and managing its side effects. There's so much to weigh up when you're emulating the masterful way the body handles every complex movement, or social matters and invitations, or day-to-day life in general. You're actually seeing me at my worst right now." Morten Harket's voice, long considered his most distinctive gift, is now beginning to show signs of strain. He admitted that the changes in his voice are one of the main reasons he feels uncertain about his musical future. At times, he experiences sudden drops in energy, moments when everything around him seems to fall silent. Throughout the years, his bandmates Paul and Magne have often written songs that pushed his vocal abilities to the limit, constantly challenging him to deliver his very best. Now, due to the illness, Harket said, 'I don't feel like singing, and for me that's a sign. I'm broad-minded in terms of what I think works; I don't expect to be able to achieve full technical control. I don't know whether I'll be able to manage it at some point in the future. When we tune the frequencies and direction of the electrodes, it is also able to affect the region of the voice, but we're not yet able to capture and control it. If I don't take dopamine, my voice settles down, but then the general underlying symptoms become more pronounced." Morten Harket knows that many people will now send him advice, treatment ideas and suggestions. But he explained that he needs to focus only on the doctors' and experts' advice. He trusts their knowledge and wants to stick to their advice. He also asked people not to worry about him. Instead, he encouraged everyone to focus on their own growth and purpose. He also reminded people to protect nature and care for the environment, as these are the real issues that need attention. The A-ha singer shared that he has been working on new songs for the past few years. He feels that the lyrics show a different, more personal side of him. However, he's not sure if he'll be able to complete and release them. First Published: June 05, 2025, 15:15 IST

Rubrik to use AMD EPYC processors for data security platform

NEW DELHI: Global cybersecurity company Rubrik said it will utilise AMD EPYC processors for its data security platform to deliver cost-effective and artificial intelligence (AI)-ready solutions to enterprise customers while expanding deployment options in cloud environments . The companies in a joint statement said that organisations are moving from on-premises to cloud environments and the demand for AI-powered solutions is on the rise, noting that organisations, particularly among financial services and others, are increasingly turning to AMD technology for mission-critical workloads. 'As we look to the future, we plan to lead with AMD technology in our upcoming product generations, responding to market demand and the clear advantages in performance efficiency,' said Arvind Nithrakashyap, co-founder & chief technology officer (CTO), Rubrik. To meet growing customer demand for lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) without impacting performance or security, Rubrik is expanding its partnership with AMD that began in 2018 with the E1000 appliance and currently includes nearly 50% of Cloud Native Protection being run on AMD instances in AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with more support continuously being added. Rubrik is now planning to significantly expand AMD EPYC processor availability across its third-party hardware ecosystem, with solutions currently available on Dell and HPE platforms, and a Cisco-based solution launching in the coming quarter. Rubrik has two cloud offerings--Cloud Native Protection and Rubrik Cloud Cluster. The cybersecurity firm said it is adding AMD instance support to Rubrik Cloud Cluster in AWS, Azure, GCP and OCI by the end of July. ' AMD EPYC processors can deliver exceptional performance with leading-edge energy efficiency, helping companies like Rubrik meet their customers' growing demands of data security while helping reduce environmental impact,' said Derek Dicker, corporate vice president (enterprise and HPC business), AMD.
