This offhand remark appears to be the first public confirmation of Google's long-rumored initiative. According to prior reporting, including a November story we covered here , Google is not building an entirely new operating system from scratch. Instead, the company is planning to migrate Chrome OS features and functionality directly into Android. That means Android is expected to take the lead as the core system, with Chrome OS components integrated into it over time. This approach allows Google to unify its efforts without forcing a complete reinvention, while also aligning with Android's recent push toward improving its large-screen experience. In fact, Android has already started evolving in this direction. Google has introduced a range of updates specifically aimed at enhancing productivity on tablets and laptops. These include a proper desktop mode, windowed multitasking, better support for external displays, and improved app behavior on large screens.Samat's interest in how users engage with laptops today suggests the project is still in development, with user feedback likely playing a role in shaping the final result. While the executive did not share any release timelines or product roadmaps, his statement indicates that work is already underway behind the scenes. The potential merger could also put Google in a stronger position to compete with Apple's iPadOS and macOS ecosystem, especially for users who switch between devices or want continuity across phones, tablets, and laptops. By creating a more seamless and consistent experience across form factors, Google may aim to address one of Android's long-standing challenges: fragmentation between platforms. While details remain scarce, this is one of the clearest signals yet that Google wants to simplify its ecosystem. Unifying Chrome OS and Android could help consolidate development efforts, improve user experience across devices, and better position Android for productivity. That said, Google's history with platform consolidation (think Fuchsia) suggests execution will be everything. Let's hope this strategy pays off.

You can once again grab the 1TB Motorola Razr Ultra with a free storage upgrade
Don't care much for Samsung's latest high-end flip phone? Well, if you're looking for a flip experience, the Motorola Razr Ultra is a great alternative. Undoubtedly pricey, the maxed-out 1TB version is once again receiving a free storage upgrade at the official store, bringing it to $1,299.99 from $1,499.99. $1299 99 $1499 99 $200 off (13%) Once again, you can save big on the 1TB Razr Ultra (2025). The flip flagship is $200 off with a free storage upgrade at the Motorola Store, but you can unlock extra savings with eligible device trade-ins. This offer is not available in your area. Trade-in $499 99 $1219 99 $720 off (59%) Alternatively, you can pre-order the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with a free storage upgrade. If you provide an eligible trade-in, you can save an extra $600. If you don't have a trade-in, pre-order the device with a $150 Samsung Instant Credit. There's a $50 Reservation Credit available for users who reserved a unit. This offer is not available in your area. We initially came across this promo during the Razr Ultra's pre-order period in May. The promo lived on long after pre-orders ended, but then disappeared, only to return once again now. So, if you missed pre-orders or your other chances to get the 1TB model at the price of the 512GB, now's a great time to also like to point out that you can get way more value for your money by providing a trade-in. The Motorola Store accepts trade-ins from various brands, including Google, Apple, Samsung, and Motorola. If you think the Motorola phone is too pricey even with these discounts, consider pre-ordering the Galaxy Z Flip 7. For a limited time, the device ships with a free storage upgrade ($120 off). An eligible device trade-in helps unlock an extra discount of up to $600, saving you up to $720 on its 512GB variant, which usually costs $1,219.99. But if you're OK with the higher asking price, the Motorola Razr Ultra absolutely packs a punch. It features a 4-inch cover display and a 7-inch main touchscreen with gimmicky 165Hz refresh rate, vibrant colors, and crisp resolution. You also get superb Snapdragon 8 Elite performance, impressive 16GB RAM, and massive 1TB storage. But that's not all! Motorola's latest flip flagship boasts multiple AI features and a relatively large (for a flip phone) 4,700mAh battery with 68W wired charging support. The only downside is that you only get three years of OS upgrades with this Android phone. Don't forget to check out our full Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) review for more insights into this high-end device. Sure, the Razr Ultra isn't cheap, but it's definitely worth considering for what it offers. And now that it's $200 off with a free storage upgrade, you still have time to act! Get yours at the official store and save while you can. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! We may earn a commission if you make a purchase Check Out The Offer

Apple's first foldable iPhone could cost less than you expected
Investment firm UBS recently released a note to its clients about the iPhone Fold . According to UBS, Apple will release a book-style foldable in the style of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line next year. The analysis done by the Swiss-based company shows that Apple's Bill of Materials (BOM) for the foldable iPhone could be $759, 4% less than what Samsung pays for the parts to build the Galaxy Z Fold SE ($790). UBS says that Apple will be able to save money on memory, application processors, and camera modules. The securities house sees Apple limiting production of its first foldable to 10 million to 15 million units. While initial estimates called for Apple to price its first foldable in a range between $2,000 and $2,400, UBS says that Apple's discipline on costs could allow it to price the phone at $1,800-$2,000. That would still make it the most expensive iPhone ever. The contribution margins are forecast to be in a range of 53%-58%, which matches the same margins on Samsung's foldables and tops the contribution margins on the iPhone 16 line. The report to UBS clients confirms previous reports that say Samsung Display will be the main supplier of the 7-inch internal OLED screens for the iPhone Fold . It is expected that as Apple starts expanding production of its foldable phone, LG Display will also get some orders from the tech giant. Suppliers for parts such as the foldable's titanium casing and its liquid metal hinge will include companies like Lens Technology, Amphenol, and Hon Hai (Foxconn). Speaking of Hon Hai (Foxconn), UBS says it will be the primary assembler of the iPhone Fold , with Luxshare as the secondary assembler. UBS believes that Apple's long-awaited entry into the foldable smartphone market will speed up the adoption of foldable devices in smartphones, tablets, and notebooks in the medium to long term. The investment firm's analysts also say that Apple's late arrival into foldables might actually be a positive for it. The supply chain for foldables is now mature, and the technology has been refined. Not only does this mean that Apple has the ability to build a more advanced foldable, but it might be able to do it at a lower price than you'd expect. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
