Pawan Kalyan calls for regulated ticket pricing and theatre reforms amid Andhra Pradesh shutdown row

Actor and deputy Chief Minister
Pawan Kalyan
has addressed the ongoing theatre shutdown issue in Andhra Pradesh, requesting the Telugu film industry to adopt a more organized approach for movie ticket price hike requests.
As per a Hindi report, he shared that any such demands should be made through the proper channels, specifically via the Telugu Film Industry Council, rather than individual producers or representatives acting on their own. This guideline applies to all upcoming films, including Pawan Kalyan's own much-anticipated release, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu'.
During a recent briefing, Tourism and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh updated the Deputy CM on the theatre bandh situation and the government's response so far.
Pawan Kalyan issued clear instructions on the need for strict and regulated management of cinema halls across the state to ensure better services for moviegoers.
The 'Gabbar Singh' actor also shared that government departments responsible for overseeing theatres must carry out their duties with diligence and proper supervision. Regular inspections and monitoring should be conducted to maintain standards in ticket pricing and theatre operations.
Pawan Kalyan also spoke about the importance of making cinema visits affordable and family-friendly. He pointed out that high prices for food and beverages inside theatres such as popcorn, soft drinks, and bottled water often exceed the cost of the tickets themselves, discouraging many families from frequenting cinemas. He urged theatre owners to keep these prices reasonable and stressed that providing clean drinking water and maintaining hygiene should be basic responsibilities.
Local authorities, he said, must ensure these standards are upheld.
He directed the Cinematography Minister to initiate an inquiry into these pricing and quality issues, coordinating closely with the tax department to address the problem.

R Madhavan Says Pee Scene In Shaitaan Made Him Uncomfortable: ‘Had To Make It Disgusting'
Last Updated: R Madhavan says he felt deeply uncomfortable filming the urination scene in Shaitaan and reveals how he used a blanket to avoid looking and change the tone. R. Madhavan, who chillingly portrayed the antagonist in the psychological horror hit Shaitaan, recently opened up about the emotional and psychological toll of certain intense scenes from the film. In a new promotional interaction with Kajol for her upcoming horror film Maa, Madhavan reflected on one particular moment that left him deeply unsettled on set. The conversation, shared by JioStudios on YouTube, saw Kajol asking Madhavan if there were any scenes in Shaitaan that felt too disturbing or realistic to perform. Madhavan candidly responded, referencing a scene in which his character forces his on-screen daughter to dance all night, resulting in her wetting herself out of sheer physical strain. 'It was a very sensitive scene," Madhavan said. 'There's this moment where I make my daughter dance through the night. She reaches a point where she can't hold it anymore and urinates. In the original version of the film, the approach to the scene was different. But here, I realized that even as a villain, if I looked at her during that moment, it would send out a completely different message. I needed the audience to feel disgust—not pity or justification." Madhavan explained how he changed his physical performance to reflect that discomfort. 'So, I wrapped myself in a blanket, deliberately avoiding looking at her. That decision not only worked for the character but gave me relief as an actor. I could step away emotionally while still staying true to the role. I simply tell the mother, 'Can you go help your daughter?'" He further added, 'There were many such moments during filming that made me deeply uncomfortable. But I had to find ways to stay authentic while protecting myself emotionally." Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl, is the Hindi adaptation of the 2023 Gujarati film Vash. It stars Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Madhavan in a dark and sinister role. The film, which follows a family held hostage by a mysterious man who exerts mind control over their daughter, was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. Madhavan's raw honesty adds another layer to a performance that was already haunting—showing how even seasoned actors have to wrestle with the moral and emotional weight of their roles, especially in films that tread psychological depths. Kamal Haasan's Thug Life expected to suffer up to ₹40 crore loss at box office following Karnataka release uncertainty
Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's Thug Life finally released on Thursday, bracing chaos and controveries. The film is now being screened across India except for Karnataka over Kamal's controversial Tamil-Kannada remark. While the film is set to register a good start at the box office, undeniably it will suffer due to its ban in Karnataka. According to a report of The Hindu, Thug Life might see a hefty loss of up to ₹ 40 crore as its Karnataka release is in limbo. Producer and distributor G Dhananjayan shared with the outlet that the Kamal Haasan film will miss out on about ₹ 35-40 crore gross at the box office and ₹ 12-15 crore share to producers share for the Karnataka blockage. The assumed loss was calculated based on the performance of previous hit pan-India releases like Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2, RRR, and Kalki 2898 AD, which earned around ₹ 74-104 crore of over ₹ 1,000 crore worldwide revenue, from the Karnataka circuit. Dhananjayan said, "With the four Telugu films grossing a total of ₹ 5832 crore, the Karnataka box office revenue alone amounts to ₹ 391.20 crore, while the north Indian market accounts for ₹ 2361.60 crore. The Karnataka market accounts for around 7% of the total revenue.' Other high-grossing Tamil films like Jailer, Leo, Ponniyin Selvan, The GOAT, and Vikram also registered a major amount from Karnataka, which plays a crucial role in the South film business. 'For Tamil films too, the Karnataka market accounts for 7% of the total revenue,' he added. Thug Life is a gangster action drama film. It is directed by Mani Ratnam and co-written by Kamal Haasan, who is also producing the film under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International, alongside Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies. Besides Kamal in the lead, it also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Rohit Saraf and Baburaj. The film marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam after their 1987 film, Nayakan. The film landed in the middle of a controversy after Kamal Haasan said, "Kannada was born out of Tamil' during a film event. After the film's release in Karnataka was opposed by the film body, Kamal moved to the High Court.
