Blue Planet to work with government in elimination of legacy waste in four cities
Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (Blue Planet) has been awarded multiple cluster-based projects worth over ₹62.4 crore under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban (SBM-U) 2.0 across the State.
According to a press note from the company, the project involves segregation of unprocessed legacy waste into Segregated Combustible Fractions (SCF), Inert and recyclable fractions. After bio-remediation and bio-mining of legacy waste, land, which is solid waste dumpsite at present, will be reclaimed and can be used for alternative purposes, the press release said.
The contract, with a duration of six months, will be executed in collaboration with the Swachh Andhra Corporation and the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department in four clusters, including Chittoor, Tirupati, Anantapur, and Gudur, as well as two additional major dumpsites under Nellore and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporations.
According to the press release, the project is already underway and is expected to be completed byOctober 2. An estimated 9.2 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste is expected to be eliminated by then.
Since 2017, Blue Planet has processed approximately 1,659,398 tonnes of legacy waste in Tirupati, Tirumala and Visakhapatnam, it said.

The launch of e-Passports was a key highlight, with Jaishankar stating that these contactless chip-based documents will allow faster and more secure immigration processing. 'The e-Passport initiative marks a significant shift in travel documentation,' he said. Jaishankar said mobile passport vans have expanded access to passport services in remote regions. UT renews case for add'l MC grant before Centre
1 2 3 Chandigarh: The UT administration has formally reiterated its demand for an additional financial grant for the Municipal Corporation (MC) during a high-level review meeting held on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by chief secretary of Chandigarh and Nitesh Kumar Vyas, additional secretary (UT), ministry of home affairs, who was in the city to assess the progress of various centrally sponsored flagship schemes. During the meeting, the finance department of the UT administration presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the financial condition of the MC, including income, expenditure, and fiscal challenges. The administration urged the Centre to release additional funds in line with the recommendations of the 4th Delhi Finance Commission (DFC), citing the need for improved civic services and infrastructure. The financial discussion was led by the chief secretary and finance secretary, who highlighted the urgency of the grant and the rationale behind the request. Apart from financial matters, the meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of 30 flagship schemes currently operational in Chandigarh. Senior officials from various departments presented updates on programmes related to education, healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, social security, and more. Govt sanctions ₹62.4 cr tenders for legacy waste cleanup
Visakhapatnam: The state govt has finalised tenders worth 62.4 crore for legacy waste projects in the Chittoor, Tirupati, Anantapur, and Gudur clusters, as well as dumpsites under the Nellore and Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporations. These projects involve legacy waste bioremediation, biomining, and land reclamation across Andhra Pradesh. The process includes pre-assessment, analysis, pre-stabilisation, processing, segregation, and the responsible disposal of aggregates, ultimately resulting in the reclamation of land currently occupied by solid waste dumpsites, in accordance with Central Pollution Control Board guidelines and the solid waste managementrules, 2016. Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd (Blue Planet), through its wholly owned subsidiary Zigma Global Environ Solutions, has been awarded these contracts under the Swachh Bharat Mission – Urban 2.0. Meanwhile, inert materials will replace virgin soil in applications such as road construction, embankments, and filling low-lying areas.
