RCB Rep's Inane Reaction To Tragic Stampede: 'Fans Waited 18 Years...Need To Empathise For Vulnerability'
A stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium during a celebration for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL win left atleast 11 dead and over 30 injured.
Celebrations descended into chaos and finally tragedy as 11 people lost their lives and more than 30 were left injured outside the Chinnaswamy stadium while trying to join a party inside the venue to honour Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL triumph here on Wednesday.
At least 11 people (as far as reported at the time of publishing) lost their lives in a stampede-like situation near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The death toll is expected to rise as many of the seriously injured are being treated at the nearby Vydehi hospital and Bowering hospital.
However, the felicitation of the players went ahead nonetheless as the stadium was packed to the rafters despite the chaos.
Who's to blame for the outcome remains a question to be answered by all.
But, in even more disappointing fashion, a representative of RCB has spoken out about the tragic stampede in an inane manner, almost losing sight of the crisis that unfolded.
As per reports from PTI, an RCB spokesperson reacted to the tragedy that unfolded by stating, 'We need to understand the sentiments and raw emotions of people too. They have patiently waited 18 years for this Cup, and all we need is to empathise with them for their vulnerability and emotions. Let's please try to manage this together."
The statement sparked outrage from fans and followers online for its seemingly insensitive nature.
But, a short while later, Royal Challengers Bengaluru officially released their statement and stance on the disaster that had ensued.
'We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team's arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us," RCB wrote in an official statement.
'RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families."
'Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration."
'We urge all our supporters to please stay safe."
Full-scale accountability for the fiasco remains to be witnessed from any anf all fronts involved in the situation.

Ex-RCB, England Pacer Tymall Mills Opens OnlyFans Account, To Post Photos Of...
Left-arm seamer Tymal Mills has opened an OnlyFans account, reportedly becoming the first cricketer to do so. Tymal Mills, the former cricketer of the defending IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI), shocked cricket fans by announcing he has opened an OnlyFans account. The left-arm seamer, however, clarified that 'there will be no glamour shots', i.e. U-rated pictures and videos the website is used for, available on his handle, with focus mainly on cricket and his lifestyle. 'Just to be a thousand per cent clear, there will be no glamour shots. This is all about pure cricket and lifestyle material. It's uncharted territory, but it's something I'm really excited about," Mills told The Athletic, as he partners with the platform known for adult content. The veteran T20 bowler is seeing it as an opportunity to create new content. 'There's no hiding from the fact they are best known for p***, but what I'll be doing will be far from that." The 32-year-old Mills will bring his media experience to the fore to enhance viewership and follower base for his OnlyFans account used for lifestyle videos. Notably, a former sports journalism student, the cricketer has worked with a host of broadcasters, including the BBC, Sky Sports and TalkSPORT. 'You can have that direct contact with fans and people who want to hear from you. Players speak before and after games in the media, but it's often manicured, generic stuff. I can use this platform to talk about what I'm thinking and use footage and images to illustrate the good and bad of life as a cricketer," he explained. Miller also talked about the pricing and revealed it is being chalked out for the most user-convenient subscription model. 'We're still thrashing that out, but to subscribe will be free, and then you will have to pay for certain pieces of content… I'm not looking to price people out," he said. While active with the Southern Brave in The Hundred, Mills feels his England days are likely behind him and thus his foray into a new fan-engagement platform makes sense to him. 'That ship might have sailed (playing internationally). It doesn't feel like I'm overly close to the setup. I'm at peace with that. Whatever I do, I want to be successful at it, and now I'm doing OnlyFans, I'm not going to go at it halfheartedly. I want to give it a really good go." view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. 'Is it too late to call Virat Kohli out of retirement...': Shashi Tharoor urges BCCI as India struggle at The Oval
Virat Kohli and Shashi Tharoor Millions of Indian cricket fans are felt what Shashi Tharoor said. The Congress MP has urged Virat Kohli to come out of retirement as India is on the verge of yet another prepares series defeat since 2007 in England. During the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Tharoor missed Kohli's presence on the field throughout, but he missed him the most during the final Test at The Oval, when India was unable to break the crucial partnership between Joe Root and Harry Brook. With 268 more to win, England was down to 106/3 after centuries from Root and Brook. Tharoor took to social media and wrote on X (formerly twitter) making a heartfelt plea to the BCCI and asking if there's still a chance to convince Kohli to reconsider his decision. Shashi Tharoor on missing Kohli onto the field 'I've been missing Virat Kohli a few times during this series, but never as much as in this Test match. His grit and intensity, his inspirational presence in the field, not to mention his abundant batting skills, might have led to a different outcome. Is it too late to call him out of retirement? Virat, the nation needs you,' Tharoor tweeted. I've been missing @imVkohli a few times during this series, but never as much as in this Test match. His grit and intensity, his inspirational presence in the field, not to mention his abundant batting skills, might have led to a different outcome. Is it too late to call him out… — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) August 3, 2025 On May 12, a few days after reports emerged that Kohli had decided to say goodbye to the format he loved so much, he announced his retirement from Test cricket. Following his heartbreaking Instagram post, Kohli is yet to provide a suitable explanation, but he still holds Test cricket in the highest regard. After RCB won their maiden IPL trophy Kohli said that he keeps Test cricket five levels above the rest after RCB IPL win, and just last month he said that, 'you know it's time when you have to dye your beard every four days.' Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the format five days before Virat Kohli. He also made an appearance at The Oval on Saturday. Kohli, meanwhile, has kept a low profile, except for his appearances at Wimbledon and an event hosted by Yuvraj Singh in London.
