Cross-Country Skiing-Klaebo wins 50km mass start to complete golden clean sweep
Sweden's William Poromaa battled all the way but was passed coming into the final turn and had to settle for silver, while Klaebo's compatriot Simen Hegstad Krueger took bronze in a tense race resembling a Hollywood thriller over almost two hours.
"It's been crazy," Klaebo said at the finish line as he struggled to hold back tears of joy. "I feel like I've been working so hard to just be here and try to be in my best shape and managing that, and winning six out of six here. It's just crazy. I don't have any words."
Fans began queuing in the early morning as a crowd estimated by media at over 100,000 filled the stands and lined the course, creating a carnival atmosphere for one of the classic races in a sport that is followed fanatically in Norway.
While the bright sunshine warmed the crowd it made conditions difficult for racers, who had to deal with wet, heavy snow that was quickly carved up and demanded every ounce of their power on the punishing uphill stretches.
After a slow start and nip-and-tuck first 25km, it took until the 35km mark before a five-man breakaway featuring Norwegians Klaebo, Krueger, Harald Oestberg Amundsen and Martin Lowestroem Nyenget plus Swede Poromaa took control of the race, leaving the field in their wake.
Nyenget looked strong and attempted to break with three kms to go but was reined in and, having suffered a fall in the skiathlon race that cost him a medal a week ago, took another late tumble in the loose snow to ruin his chances.
The tremendous tactical battle evolved further when Klaebo switched lanes to make a burst into the final climb, but Poromaa answered and made an surge of his own as their pair dropped Krueger.
Unfazed, Klaebo let the Swede briefly take the lead before blasting by his rival on the way into the final bend and thrusting through the final straight to claim his historic sixth gold medal as the stands exploded in jubilation.
"I feel like I got helped by the hundreds of thousands of people out there. It was crazy, I feel like I say this, every single race that this is, that this has been the best day so far, but today it's ... it's just crazy," Klaebo said.

Alexander Isak transfer update issued amid Liverpool saga: 'You have to know the whole picture'
Alexander Isak's proposed move to Liverpool failed to get off the ground and the Swede is in a transfer stand-off with current club Newcastle United as the window draws to an end Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has warned people not too judge Alexander Isak too quickly and labelled the forward 'extremely professional'. The Newcastle star missed the club's opening match of the season against Aston Villa as he pushes for a move to Liverpool. Isak has trained away from Newcastle's first team after missing the side's pre-season tour of Asia and appears to have indicated he will not feature for the club again. Eddie Howe has left the door open to that possibility despite his charge's stance. Liverpool had a £110million bid quickly turned down earlier in the summer, and are ready to return for the player if offered encouragement from their Premier League rivals. Newcastle had earlier declared Isak not for sale and reports have suggested they would like to see two strikers arrive before even countenancing a deal. Isak has come in for some criticism for his approach in attempting to force a move, and now his international manager Tomasson has spoken out in defence of his charge. The Sweden boss has already seen Viktor Gyokeres go on strike to facilitate a transfer this summer and has lent his support to Isak, who may now be fined. Tomasson believes critics should not speak out before knowing the full situation surrounding Isak's decision. He told fotbollskanalen: "First of all: Alex is an extremely professional player. A fantastic character and personality. I have talked a lot with Alex during this period. "Situations like this are quite complex. These are extremely complex environments that the players operate in. I'm sure it will work out in the end, but you have to know the whole picture before you draw conclusions. That's always a good tip. "I don't think we know it (the whole picture). I don't know the whole picture either. It's quite normal because there's a lot of politics in a football club. But one thing is for sure: Alex is a great guy and very professional. We should all be very careful about drawing conclusions because we don't know the bigger picture." Tomasson will hope to have Isak available for Sweden's next World Cup qualifying matches against Slovnia and Kosovo as the nation attempts to make the tournament in the United States. Isak's preparation thus far has not been ideal however. He added: "There is time. He is a professional and I know he has trained. Of course he has not trained with a team and has not played matches. Let's wait and see. We will have a good talk, Alex and I, and hopefully he will be back in team training soon. Of course we have thought about it. "I want to have my best players available and he is a fantastic player. But I can't see into the future. It's impossible."

Alexander Isak and Liverpool saga enters crucial 24 hours as Newcastle step up transfer plan
Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak is arguably the biggest remaining unfinished Premier League transfer saga and it looks as though the next 24 hours are vital There are two weeks left in the summer window but the next 24 hours could be key to settling one of the last remaining Premier League transfer sagas. Liverpool have been pushing to bring Alexander Isak to Anfield from Newcastle, already seeing one bid knocked back, but now it's about Newcastle's own transfer plans as the Magpies chase a replacement. If Liverpool are to land Isak, they may well need to spend more than the £116million Premier League record which convinced Bayer Leverkusen to part ways with Florian Wirtz. Newcastle left Isak out of their squad to face Aston Villa on Saturday amid indications he has refused to play for the club, but a goalless draw reinforced their need for a goalscorer - whether that means keeping the Swede or spending big to make up for losing last season's top scorer. Brentford frontman Yoane Wissa is one of those being eyed by Eddie Howe's side, and he too sat out the weekend's action. Earlier in the window, it looked as though a £35m bid might be enough to land the Congolese international, but The Mail reports that the asking price has climbed to at least £50m. Newcastle could end the window with two new strikers, having already allowed Callum Wilson to leave for nothing. Goncalo Ramos, who scored for Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup, is another option. The Wissa deal is believed to be the one on which Isak's future hinges, though. Newcastle's next game just so happens to come at home to Liverpool. 'It's always spicy against Liverpool, there's a history to the fixture. We look forward to it. We know how good they are," Howe added. Arne Slot's title holders showed few signs of needing more in attack when they beat Bournemouth on Friday, with four different players finding the net. There's still a gap in the squad, though, with Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both completing summer exits to help the Reds raise funds for a potential Isak swoop. "As long as he is here he is definitely at Liverpool and I have no reason to believe something is going to change," the manager said.
