Major Ramses Telecoms Building Fire Causes Communication Disruption in Cairo
A few hours ago, a huge blaze broke out inside the major telecommunications building in Ramses, Cairo.
The fire caused major disruptions to telecommunications in several surrounding areas due to damage to some technical equipment inside the building.
Moreover, some major news websites whose headquarters are near the spot of the fire widely distributed as the fire impacted the ADSL internet services in the region.

Sources at Telecom Egypt indicated that technical teams started to work on solving the widespread issue in Cairo. They asserted that the services will be restored as soon as possible
They added that the impact is being addressed immediately, with priority given to vital sites and the most affected areas.

Iran Confirms Nahid-2 Satellite is Operational in Orbit
Yara Sameh The Iranian Space Agency (ISA) has confirmed successful communication with the newly launched Nahid-2 satellite, having received its initial telemetry signals. This is reported by the Mehr News Agency , a partner of TV BRICS. According to ISA chief Hossein Salariyeh, these signals indicate that the satellite is stable and functioning as intended in its designated orbit following its launch from Russia's Vostochny Cosmodrome on 25 July. Nahid-2 is a telecommunications satellite that utilises the Ku-band, commonly used for broadband connectivity across the globe. Salariyeh stated that post-launch efforts are now focused on systematically testing each subsystem to ensure optimal performance. The satellite, entirely designed and built domestically, is equipped with a range of features including secure data transmission, onboard storage, and direct communication with ground stations. Egypt's Telecom Regulator: 650,000 Mobile Phones Entered Duty-Free with Passengers in 2025
Taarek Refaat Egypt's National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) confirmed on Sunday that over 650,000 mobile phones have entered the country duty-free alongside travelers since the beginning of the year, under the country's mobile device governance system. The authority clarified that the exemption, allowing one mobile device per traveler to enter the country without customs duties, remains in effect as part of the ongoing pilot phase of a broader telecommunications oversight framework. In an official statement, the NTRA denied social media rumors claiming that previously exempted phones would be retroactively taxed or disabled. 'These claims are unfounded,' the statement read. However, the regulator acknowledged detecting abuse of the exemption policy, revealing that approximately 60,000 devices have had their mobile network access suspended pending further investigation. Through a systematic review of the exemption program, the NTRA uncovered 13,000 devices that had illegally benefited from the duty-free rule in violation of regulatory guidelines. These devices remain blocked as of now. Conversely, around 47,000 suspended phones were found to be legitimately exempt and have since been reactivated after verification procedures. Egypt introduced the exemption policy as part of a national framework to regulate and monitor mobile device imports, reduce smuggling, and ensure fair taxation. The initiative is also designed to curb the proliferation of unregistered devices on local telecom networks. The NTRA emphasized its commitment to periodic audits and enforcement, warning against fraudulent attempts to exploit the system. Further technological upgrades and automated checks are expected as the program moves toward full implementation. Massive Data Breach at US Dating App "Tea"
Taarek Refaat U.S.-based dating app Tea has confirmed a significant data breach that resulted in the unauthorized exposure of more than 72,000 private images, including 13,000 selfies accompanied by government-issued IDs. The app, which has gained recent notoriety for allowing women to anonymously review men they've dated or matched with on dating platforms, disclosed the breach late Saturday. The compromised images reportedly include user-submitted content from Tea's account verification process. According to NBC News, the leaked materials were published Friday on controversial online forum 4Chan, widely known for hosting misinformation campaigns and extremist content. Screenshots circulating on Reddit and other social platforms showed ID cards paired with selfies, an alarming breach of user trust and safety. "This breach is deeply concerning," said a spokesperson for Tea. "Roughly 72,000 images were accessed without authorization, including approximately 13,000 selfie-ID pairings submitted as part of our verification process." The company noted that the exposed database was over two years old and had originally been retained to comply with cyberbullying and law enforcement regulations. The leaked content has sparked intense debate over digital privacy, particularly for women using dating apps. Critics argue that Tea's system, which encourages anonymous reviews of male users, poses inherent risks, especially when combined with identifiable personal data. The New York Times highlighted that while supporters believe Tea empowers women to avoid deceptive or dangerous partners, critics warn of potential defamation and privacy violations, especially when names and images are involved. Tea founder Shawn Cook responded on the company's website, stating that the app was inspired by his mother's traumatic experiences with online dating, including catfishing and unknowingly dating men with criminal backgrounds. 'Tea was created to protect women by giving them tools to verify men's identities, criminal records, and even run reverse image searches,' Cook said. 'This breach is a painful setback to that mission.' The app claims it donates 10% of its profits to the National Domestic Violence Hotline and has positioned itself as a safer alternative to mainstream dating platforms. In response to the breach, Tea has brought in external cybersecurity experts and says it is 'working around the clock to secure our systems and prevent future intrusions.' The breach adds to a troubling pattern of large-scale cyberattacks targeting sensitive personal data.
