UN Stresses the Importance of the Media's Role in Promoting Stability and the Rule of Law

The United Nations in Iraq discussed with a number of media professionals and influencers in Iraq, on Thursday, the importance of enhancing dialogue and cooperation on issues affecting Iraqi society. They emphasized the importance of the media's role in promoting stability and the rule of law.
Our correspondent reported that "the United Nations in Iraq hosted a Ramadan iftar for a select group of Iraqi journalists and influencers, in the presence of Hind Jalal, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Iraq, Sandra Lattouf, the UNICEF Representative in Iraq, Elleman Jaghan, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Christine Kuhl, the Director of the Communications, Partnerships and Advocacy Team, and John Allam, the Director of Media and Communications at the United Nations Mission in Iraq.".
He added, "According to its organizers, the meeting was an opportunity to enhance dialogue and cooperation with media professionals and influencers on issues affecting Iraqi society, such as supporting women's health, family planning, youth empowerment, and population census. These are issues that the United Nations Population Fund works on through its programs in reproductive health and combating violence against women and girls. The discussion also addressed the importance of protecting children and providing them with a safe environment and quality education, which UNICEF focuses on through its programs in Iraq.
The role of the United Nations Development Program in supporting economic and security reform, combating corruption, and strengthening social cohesion was also highlighted, in addition to ways to confront climate change, which directly reflects on improving the lives of communities."

Additionally, Macron highlighted his country's efforts to assist Iraq in preserving its security, stability, and sovereignty.
