Kim Kardashian's stylist details 'terror' on night of Paris robbery
Kim Kardashian's stylist has told a court of the terror they both felt during a multi-million dollar jewellery robbery in Paris in 2016, with the star screaming "I have babies" and "I have to live".
The billionaire celebrity is set to testify later on Tuesday, local time, at the trial of the so-called "grandpa gang" accused of robbing her at gunpoint in her hotel room.
Stylist Simone Harouche told a Paris court the attack had been "traumatising".
The suspects are accused of tying up Kardashian with zip ties and duct tape before fleeing with jewels worth millions of dollars.
They included a $4 million engagement ring given to her by her then-husband rapper Kanye West, according to investigators.
Ms Harouche, who was asleep in the same luxury hotel flat at the time of the attack, spoke to the court ahead of Kardashian's testimony.
"'I have babies, and I have to live' — that's what I heard her say. 'Take everything — I need to live'," Ms Harouche told the court.
Ms Harouche was downstairs in the duplex flat at the time of the attack, while Kardashian was upstairs.
"We've been friends since we were little girls," she told the court.
"So when I heard this sound, it was very different, and it woke me up, because it was a sound that I had never heard from Kim.
The stylist rushed to lock herself in the bathroom and texted Kardashian's sister Kourtney and their bodyguard for help.
Ms Harouche said when the robbers left, Kardashian joined her downstairs.
"She was beside herself, I've never seen her like that before," she said.
"She just was screaming and kept saying we need to get out of here, we need help, what are we going to do if they come back."
Ms Harouche cried at times during her testimony and said she had changed careers and sought therapy because of the robbery.
She said the incident caused her post-traumatic stress and made her fearful of being around celebrities.
In 2020, Kardashian told US talk show host David Letterman about the heist in an interview, fighting back tears as she recalled her fears of being raped that night.
"I kept looking at the concierge," she said, referring to the hotel's concierge who had been forced at gunpoint to lead the gang to her apartment.
"I was like, 'Are we gonna die? Just tell them I have children, I have babies ... I have to get home'."
The 10 suspects who are standing trial — nine men and one woman — have been dubbed "the grandpa gang", with many in their late 60s or 70s.
One of the accused, 71-year-old Yunice Abbas, told French media he and his other accomplices did not know who Kardashian was.
Five of the suspects — all men — face armed robbery and kidnapping charges and potentially risk being sentenced to life imprisonment.
The others are charged with complicity in the heist or the unauthorised possession of a weapon.
Most of the jewels, including the $4 million engagement ring, were never found.

Ukraine says Russian strikes hit Kharkiv, killing two
Fresh Russian strikes on Ukraine's northeastern city of Kharkiv killed two people and wounded 54 including children early Wednesday, authorities said, as Moscow pushed ahead with its relentless attacks after rejecting an unconditional ceasefire. "Seventeen strikes by enemy UAVs (drones) were carried out in two districts of the city tonight," Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov said on Telegram, later adding that 37 people were wounded and "several people were rescued from houses engulfed in flames". The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said eight children were wounded in the attack. Russia has escalated its bombardments of Ukraine despite US President Donald Trump urging Moscow to end its three-year invasion, with Kyiv launching retaliatory attacks deep inside Russian territory. After a previous overnight barrage of more than 300 drones and seven missiles on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Kyiv's Western allies to respond with "concrete action". "Action from America, which has the power to force Russia into peace. Action from Europe, which has no alternative but to be strong," Zelensky wrote on social media. Peace talks in Turkey last week failed to yield a breakthrough towards ending the conflict, with Russia rejecting calls for an unconditional ceasefire and demanding Ukraine give up its territory and bid to join NATO. But the two sides agreed to swap more than 1,000 prisoners of war and hand over the bodies of dead soldiers, swapping groups of captured soldiers on Monday and Tuesday. - Prisoner exchanges - Kharkhiv, which lies less than 50 kilometres (31 miles) from the Russian border, has been hit by a surge in large-scale nighttime attacks over the past week. Wednesday's strikes left a five-story building on fire in Slobidskyi district, while several houses were hit in Osnovyansky district, Mayor Terekhov said. He said "there may be people trapped under the rubble". The attack came after Russia pummelled the city on Saturday in what Terekhov called "the most powerful attack" on Kharkiv since the start of the war. Four people were killed and more than 50 wounded as homes and apartment blocks were hit overnight and guided bombs were dropped on the city on Saturday afternoon. Ukraine is also stepping up its drone attacks on Russia, targeting military production and bases. On Tuesday, one person was killed and four others wounded in a drone attack that destroyed a convenience store in the Russian region of Belgorod, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. Nevertheless, the two sides carried out a second prisoner of war swap on Tuesday. The deal should see the freeing of all captured soldiers under the age of 25, as well as those who are sick or severely wounded, though neither side has specified the number of soldiers involved. But Zelensky has said it is "pointless" to hold further talks with the current Russian delegation -- who he previously dismissed as "empty heads" -- since they could not agree to a ceasefire. As a condition for halting its invasion, Russia has demanded that Ukraine cede the territories Moscow says it has annexed and forswear joining NATO. It has also rejected a proposed 30-day unconditional ceasefire sought by Kyiv and the European Union, arguing that this would allow Ukrainian forces to rearm with Western deliveries. Ukraine is demanding a complete Russian withdrawal of from its territory and security guarantees from the West.

Glen Powell's ‘shattered' ex blasts actor, Sydney Sweeney over romance ‘PR scheme'
Don't miss out on the headlines from Hook Ups & Break Ups. Followed categories will be added to My News. Glen Powell's ex-girlfriend was 'shattered' by manufactured romance rumours that swirled between the actor and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney. Gigi Paris reflected on her decision to end things with Powell after he and Sweeney were spotted looking flirty on the set of the 2023 romcom during the latest episode of the Too Much podcast. 'It was just, 'This is what I have to do for my job.' I had two options,' she said. 'I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the f**k?'' The model said her other option was to 'stand up for [herself].' '[I could] say, 'No, I'm actually not OK with this, and I'm walking away,'' she continued. 'So that's what I decided to do.' Glen Powell and Gigi Paris. Picture: glenpowell/Instagram Paris, 32, recalled feeling 'shattered' when whispers of a romance between the Euphoria star, 27, and Powell, 36, hit the rumour mill. 'I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public,' Paris said. 'Like, don't make an ass out of me. Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?' Paris slammed Powell for deciding not to shut down the romance rumours. 'Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, 'No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn't do that.' That's all that needed to be said. And that wasn't said. Never once,' she recalled. Paris claimed that Sweeney and Powell were leaning into the gossip because it was 'serving them for their PR' for their movie. Powell and Sydney Sweeney had great chemistry in their rom com Anyone By You … Picture: Ethan Miller/Getty … many wondered if it spilled over into real life. 'Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship. Like, it was just crazy,' she said. While Paris acknowledged that 'work comes first' for Powell, it was too much for her and she felt that she had to 'walk away.' 'What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs,' she confessed. Paris joked that she 'hoped that they'd end up together,' like the fans wanted. 'Because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot,' she said. Paris further claimed that Powell dumped her over the phone while he was on location in Australia for the movie. 'I got a phone call from him right when I was about to go to Australia to work — all this s**t was coming out on the Internet,' she remembered, referring to the rumours between Powell and Sweeney. Picture: Dia Dipasupil/Getty 'And he called and said, 'The producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit.' … And that's when I hung up. And I was like, 'This motherf**ker is done to me,'' she said. Paris fell apart after their call, acknowledging that it was in that moment that she realised their relationship wouldn't make it. 'I thought we had hope, like, maybe when I got there that, like, things would maybe get better,' she said. 'But once I got that phone call, I just knew it was done. I had lost whoever that person was that I loved.' Powell and Sweeney spurred rumours that they were an item after they were seen looking loved-up on set of the comedy in 2023. Paris has revealed the moment when she decided of her then-boyfriend: 'This motherf**ker is done to me.' At the time, Powell was dating Paris and Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino. However, a source confirmed to Page Six in April 2023 that Paris and Powell broke up weeks before rumours surfaced that he and Sweeney were romantically involved. Paris had hinted at their breakup by unfollowing Powell and Sweeney on Instagram and posting a cryptic message in an Instagram caption, writing, 'Know your worth & onto the next.' Sweeney's relationship also crumbled after her sizzling moments with Powell took the internet by storm, with her and Davino breaking up in March after nearly seven years together. Austria in mourning after mass school shooting
The southern Austrian city of Graz is in mourning after a former student killed at least 10 people when he opened fire at a local high school. In an unprecedented act of deadly gun violence, the 21 year-old entered the school with two guns and began shooting at others before taking his own life. Announcing three days of national mourning, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker says the entire country is in pain. 'Today is the darkest day in the history of our country. The killing spree at a school here in Graz is a national tragedy that shakes us to the core. Nine people were suddenly torn from their lives by this inconceivable act. There are no words to express the pain, the bewilderment and the grief felt by the whole of Austria.' Nine victims were immediately confirmed dead, while one woman died from her injuries in hospital later. While authorities are yet to confirm the victims' ages, the father of a 17 year-old French student has confirmed his child was among those killed. Police say the suspect acted alone and was found dead in a school bathroom after the attack. They say the gunman was not previously known to police. Graz Police Official Gerald Ortner says police discovered a good-bye letter addressed to the shooter's parents, but they say it gives no indication of motive. 'The alleged perpetrator is a 21-year-old Austrian from the district of Graz. According to current information, two firearms were used in the offence, which were recovered at the scene. These weapons are now being forensically examined. The suspected perpetrator is believed to have possessed the weapons legally. It is not yet possible to provide any information about the motive.' Mass shootings are rare in Austria. According to a 2024 analysis by the Rockefeller Institute of Government, there were only two such incidents in Austria between 2000 and 2022. While the Global Peace Index ranks Austria among the top ten safest countries in the world, Small Arms Survey data shows it ranks 12th in the world in gun-holdings per person. But weapons expert and owner of a gunshop in Vienna Markus Schwaiger says he's surprised that the shooter legally owned a pistol. "The whole case is a little bit astonishing. It's the first time that we had such a case with category B weapons, because usually young people are using category C weapons, which are really easy to buy. And in this case, he used a pistol, which is category B, which requires to take a psychological assessment in advance. I don't know how he managed to get through this assessment and to get his weapons licence to buy the pistol." Police say 12 people suffered injuries in the attack, some serious, adding that support is being provided to witnesses and victim families. With a three-day mourning period in place, bouquets of flowers and candles have been placed at the school entrance and several nearby businesses are closing their doors. Eager to help those injured in any way they can, crowds of people in Graz queued to donate blood. 30 year-old Johanna says she felt helpless and decided to donate. "It's just one more horrible news that I heard today and it's really close now. So it makes me sad and really, really upset. And it just shows how much difficulties are in the world. It's just an expression of a lot that's not under control and in harmony." With condolences pouring in from across Europe, European Commission spokeswoman Paula Pinho says Europe stands with the city of Graz. "We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire city of Graz, and we stand together in mourning, and while we seek clarity in the wake of this horrible event in a school."
