Kim Kardashian Is Reportedly Paying $12 Million for Security Detail
The 2016 Paris robbery was a turning point for , largely due to safety failures, which led to her paying $12 million for her security detail. The reality star recently delivered testimony in a court case against the 'Grandpa Gang,' who robbed her at gunpoint nearly a decade ago. Earlier this month, the case resulted in the conviction of eight people involved. Nevertheless, Kardashian has seemingly learned from her mistakes and won't take chances concerning safety measures. Sources close to her now claim that she has a 'president-level' security protocol, comprising 'former intelligence guys' and 'ex-military.' The team reportedly costs her about $12 million a year, but she doesn't seem to mind it. Sources close to Kim Kardashian shared particulars about her new 'presidential-level' security detail, including ex-military personnel. The harrowing 2016 night when armed robbers pulled a multimillion-dollar jewelry heist on her during Paris Fashion Week pushed her to implement significant changes to safety protocols. One of them included paying for an extensive team that accompanies her everywhere. 'Kim doesn't go anywhere without her full team now,' a close friend told RadarOnline, adding she has 'former intelligence guys, ex-military' working for her. Another source claimed that the SKIMS founder and businesswoman has 'built a fortress around her life.' The heist 'completely changed the game.' It also pushed Kardashian to go that extra mile because 'there was no way she was ever going to allow that kind of vulnerability again.' Earlier this year, she testified in court during the trial of the 10 accused robbers, recounting the 'terrifying' and 'life-changing' events from that night, as per the BBC. The mom of four recounted fearing the robbers were going to rape or kill her. The report highlighted details about Kim Kardashian's present security protocol, which involves 'armored transport.' It further includes 'multiple decoys, advance reconnaissance teams, and vetting of all staff and locations' and costs about $12 million a year. Reportedly, Kardashian's security is so tight now that even her close pals undergo background checks to be close to her. 'There's a rulebook now,' claimed the insider, saying that those who don't follow it won't be allowed in. Reports have mentioned that the businesswoman has hired additional security for her kids, whom she shares with Kanye West. The U.S. Sun had previously revealed that a source informed them that 'armed security' and multiple nannies accompany the children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — to their private school in California. Kim Kardashian's stylist details 'terror' on night of Paris robbery
Kim Kardashian's stylist has told a court of the terror they both felt during a multi-million dollar jewellery robbery in Paris in 2016, with the star screaming "I have babies" and "I have to live". The billionaire celebrity is set to testify later on Tuesday, local time, at the trial of the so-called "grandpa gang" accused of robbing her at gunpoint in her hotel room. Stylist Simone Harouche told a Paris court the attack had been "traumatising". The suspects are accused of tying up Kardashian with zip ties and duct tape before fleeing with jewels worth millions of dollars. They included a $4 million engagement ring given to her by her then-husband rapper Kanye West, according to investigators. Ms Harouche, who was asleep in the same luxury hotel flat at the time of the attack, spoke to the court ahead of Kardashian's testimony. "'I have babies, and I have to live' — that's what I heard her say. 'Take everything — I need to live'," Ms Harouche told the court. Ms Harouche was downstairs in the duplex flat at the time of the attack, while Kardashian was upstairs. "We've been friends since we were little girls," she told the court. "So when I heard this sound, it was very different, and it woke me up, because it was a sound that I had never heard from Kim. The stylist rushed to lock herself in the bathroom and texted Kardashian's sister Kourtney and their bodyguard for help. Ms Harouche said when the robbers left, Kardashian joined her downstairs. "She was beside herself, I've never seen her like that before," she said. "She just was screaming and kept saying we need to get out of here, we need help, what are we going to do if they come back." Ms Harouche cried at times during her testimony and said she had changed careers and sought therapy because of the robbery. She said the incident caused her post-traumatic stress and made her fearful of being around celebrities. In 2020, Kardashian told US talk show host David Letterman about the heist in an interview, fighting back tears as she recalled her fears of being raped that night. "I kept looking at the concierge," she said, referring to the hotel's concierge who had been forced at gunpoint to lead the gang to her apartment. "I was like, 'Are we gonna die? Just tell them I have children, I have babies ... I have to get home'." The 10 suspects who are standing trial — nine men and one woman — have been dubbed "the grandpa gang", with many in their late 60s or 70s. One of the accused, 71-year-old Yunice Abbas, told French media he and his other accomplices did not know who Kardashian was. Five of the suspects — all men — face armed robbery and kidnapping charges and potentially risk being sentenced to life imprisonment. The others are charged with complicity in the heist or the unauthorised possession of a weapon. Most of the jewels, including the $4 million engagement ring, were never found. Reuters

Kim Kardashian to testify in Paris robbery trial
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian is set to testify on Tuesday afternoon at the trial of a gang accused of robbing her at gunpoint in her Paris hotel room in 2016 and stealing jewelry worth millions of dollars. The suspects are accused of tying up the billionaire celebrity with zip ties and duct tape before making off with jewels, including a $4 million engagement ring given to her by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye), according to investigators. Early on Tuesday, hours before Kardashian's testimony, dozens of journalists queued up to get into the tribunal. Kardashian told David Letterman about the heist in a 2020 interview, fighting back tears as she recalled her fears of being raped that night. 'They kept on saying 'the ring, the ring,'' Kardashian said. 'I kept looking at the concierge,' she continued, referring to the concierge of the exclusive hotel who had been forced at gunpoint to lead the gang to her apartment. 'I was like, 'Are we gonna die? Just tell them I have children, I have babies … I have to get home.'' Yunice Abbas, 71, who is among the 10 suspects standing trial – many in their late 60s or 70s and dubbed 'the grandpa gang' – has told French media that he and others who took part in the robbery did not know who Kardashian was. 'It's not her, it's her diamond we targeted,' Abbas told C8 TV a few years ago. Abbas has admitted his participation in the robbery – writing a book about his role. In interviews with French media, he said he was sorry for what he did and wanted to apologize to Kardashian. There is no possibility of a guilty plea in such cases, and Abbas is standing trial despite admitting to playing a role in the robbery. Frank Berton, a lawyer representing 68-year-old Aomar Ait Khedache, nicknamed 'Omar the Old,' said last month he hoped the fact that Kardashian is a global star wouldn't affect the trial. Khedache is accused of being the gang's ringleader, which he denies. 'This trial attracts international attention because of who the plaintiff, the victim, is,' Berton said. 'What we hope is that it won't change anything in the way the facts are judged,' he said.
