Illinois bill would require parents notify school districts of homeschooling
According to House Bill 2827, the Homeschool Act would require the State Board of Education to create a 'Homeschool Declaration Form' to be used by a homeschooling program to submit information about a student.
If a homeschool administrator or parent does not notify their school district about their homeschool child, they are considered truant with penalities applying, according to the bill.

Illinois and Missouri are among 12 other states that currently do not require a notice to school districts or the state regarding the homeschooling of students.
The House Bill also states if a child seeks to attend their public school part-time, a parent must use the declaration form to submit required immunizations and health examinations or a signed Certificate of Religious Exemption.

Air conditioning units stolen from Wichita church
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Four air conditioning units were stolen from a Wichita church. It occurred at the Greater St. Mary's Baptist Church, located in the 1600 block of E. 17th Street. The theft occurred on July 16 as the church was experiencing the worst of the summer heat. The pastor said the theft is a huge loss. 'Some people that are in wheelchairs and stuff like that, this is a lot more for them to try to get over here too to the service and like yesterday we had to have a funeral for one of our members at another church simply because our church was not available,' Pastor Willard Dallas said. Flooding possible through early Monday The church filed a police report for the theft, but it is not confident the units will be recovered. Dillard says the church has raised thousands with the help of individuals to replace the units. The church has set up a GoFundMe to help with the replacement of the units.
