Georgia football freshman WR suffers ankle injury, needs surgery
The Georgia Bulldogs football program received some rough injury news, as four-star freshman wide receiver Tyler Williams suffered torn ligaments in his ankle on Saturday, according to Dawgs247. He is set to have surgery on Monday, more than likely ending his spring with the Bulldogs.
Williams was an intriguing freshman entering this spring. The four-star recruit was a star at Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. He had 30 receptions for 796 yards and 10 touchdowns in his senior season, helping lead his school to a 12-1 record and the FHSAA Class 6A quarterfinals.
He committed to the Georgia Bulldogs in June of 2024, over Miami, Florida, Syracuse and UCF. He was one of five members of the Bulldogs receiver class of 2025, joined by Talyn Taylor, C.J. Wiley, Landon Roldan, and three-star Thomas Blackshear. Williams had a great chance to emerge out of that young group, but unfortunately, the injury bug bit him and will set him back a bit.
The Bulldogs will start practicing again on Tuesday for their fourth spring practice.

Merab Dvalishvili Open to Super Fight With Fellow UFC Champion
Merab Dvalishvili Open to Super Fight With Fellow UFC Champion originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Merab Dvalishvili successfully defended the bantamweight title for the second time on Saturday night. Advertisement It was a rematch against former champion Sean O'Malley, but Dvalishvili proved he's still improving. The Georgian did well mixing up his attacks, landing punches during wild exchanges with O'Malley, however it was once again his relentless work rate that wore out his opponent. He submitted a tired 'Suga' at the end of the third round with a nasty choke, earning his second career finish inside of the octagon and first since 2021 against Marlon Moraes. Dvalishvili is likely to take on No. four ranked Cory Sandhagen later this year. If he wins, it would be his 14th straight victory, putting him in rare air with Jon Jones (19), Anderson Silva (16), Islam Makhachev (15), and Kamaru Usman (15). Today he was asked by combat sports reporter Ariel Helwani about a potential super fight with UFC Flyweight Champion Alexandre Pantoja and is on board with the potential bout. 'Yes, if he will move up in my weight class and if the UFC is interested in that, no problem,' Dvalishvili said. 'I'm sure a lot of people will be interested in this fight. I respect Pantoja. He will be a tough opponent for me. If Pantoja wants this and if the UFC wants this, I have no problem with that." Advertisement Pantoja has cleaned out the flyweight division in a similar way to Dvalishvili as the Brazilian has won seven in a row. He's scheduled to take on Kai Kara-France later this month at UFC 317, but with another defense, it could be time for him to try becoming a champion in two weight classes. Back with Falcons, Kirk Cousins talks ‘reality' of being second-string QB
Speaking for the first time since a 2024 season that saw him lose his job as the Atlanta Falcons' starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins said he accepted the 'reality' of his current backup role while acknowledging he would 'love' to start for an NFL team. Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons in free agency last year, but Atlanta made a surprise move in the draft by using the eighth overall pick to select highly touted quarterback prospect Michael Penix Jr. Coming off a torn Achilles' tendon, Cousins made 14 starts for the Falcons, but a stretch of poor play resulted in the promotion of Penix, who was named the starter 'moving forward' by Coach Raheem Morris.
