James Gunn Says There Is ‘Zero Truth' to Warner Bros. Making Him Shorten ‘Superman' Runtime: ‘They Couldn't Even if That's Something That They Wanted'

James Gunn is setting the record straight on the 'Superman' runtime.
On Instagram Threads, a user reached out to the DC Studios head to ask if the run time of two hours and nine minutes was accurate. Gunn responded, stating that the rumored time was dead on.

'Inclusive of credits/post credits the runtime is 2 hours 9 minutes,' Gunn replied.
Gunn was then asked about another rumored topic: Whether or not Warner Bros. had asked him to shorten the film. Gunn once again weighed in.
'Zero truth to that,' he wrote. 'And they couldn't even if that's something that they wanted to [do]. It's a DC Studios film.'
Previously titled 'Superman: Legacy,' 'Superman' is written and directed by Gunn. David Corenswet stars as the titular Man of Steel opposite Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult plays the film's villain, the megalomaniac super-genius Lex Luthor. Other members of the cast include Skyler Gisondo as journalist Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as the Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Gunn's directorial debut as head of DC Studios is the first solo Superman film in over a decade. The last movie centering around the Son of Krypton was Zack Snyder's 2013 'Man of Steel,' which went on to gross $670 million at the worldwide box office. That film kicked off a DC-connected universe, which included films like 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' 'Wonder Woman,' 'Suicide Squad' and 'The Flash.' The timeline ended with 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' in December 2023.
'Superman' hits theaters July 11.

Harry Potter actor talks about shooting DC superhero show in Savannah

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Actor Freddie Stroma's latest role as the unhinged superhero Vigilante in HBO's Peacemaker may not get him recognized on the street much. That's because his costume covers his face for much of his screentime. But once the mask comes off, you may remember him as Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter movies or Luke in Pitch Perfect. Stroma was in town for Epic Cons: Savannah Friday to meet and greet fans. But it wasn't his first visit to the Hostess City. Back in November, the cast of Peacemaker was in the Coastal Empire to shoot part of season 2. Star John Cena was spotted at Leopold's Ice cream and director James Gunn stopped by Odin & Sons Comics and Collectibles. When WSAV News 3 caught up with Stroma at Epic Cons: Savannah, we asked him if he was part of the Savannah production. 'I wasn't filming myself, but I came down anyway. It was amazing. I don't think I can say much, but we had a really good time. I think James [Gunn] is quoted as saying it was the best day of filming he's ever had. I had a great time just checking out Savannah. It's beautiful.' Star of Gilmore Girls reminisces about playing baseball in Savannah And while he spoke to WSAV, Stroma said Gunn shot some of the new Superman movie in Savannah as well. WSAV News 3 asked the Savannah Film Commission to confirm, and they told us that some pickup shots for the movie were done here but it's uncertain whether any of them will be in the final cut. Let WSAV know if you see any Savannah shots when the movie premiers on July 11! Stroma wasn't able to divulge any secrets from season 2 of Peacemaker either. But he did offer this: '[You'll see] a lot of high jinks and a lot of lunacy.' Season 2 of Peacemaker premieres August 21 on HBO. Epic Cons: Savannah continues through Sunday. Get your tickets here. Summer Games Fest 2025: Marvel's Deadpool VR Features Voice of Neil Patrick Harris

Marvel's Deadpool VR made its debut at Summer Games Fest 2025, revealing a deep look into the gameplay with a new trailer. Marvel's Deadpool VR made its debut at Summer Games Fest 2025, revealing a deep look into the gameplay with a new trailer. The game will be out exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 and 3S. The game is created by Twisted Pixel and Oculus Studios, in collaboration with Marvel Games. One of the coolest parts of this title is that the titular character will be voiced by Neil Patrick Harris aka NPH. Finally, a chance to slip inside Deadpool's sweaty skintight suit and really become the Merc with a Mouth in all his flippy-shooty-off-the-wall glory. Marvel's Deadpool VR features an all-new original story. After being pulled through a portal toMojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich—like really rich. He signs a sketchy contract withoutreading any of the fine print (almost like his dealings in the recent third Deadpool film) and then it's off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel Universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains. It's real metaverse stuff—in the Marvel Universe sense, not the VR one. Twisted Pixel spent years capturing Deadpool's unique blend of parkour and combat, building onthe beat-em-up bona fides it established in Path of the Warrior. Players will be able to do all the fun and dangerous things Deadpool gets into, from simple stabs to punching someone while holding a grenade. You can even throw around severed limbs. Woah! Yuck! The possibilities are almsot endless. Deadpool VR will release later this year on Meta Quest 3 and 3S. Fans can check out the blog for updates.

Will Season 5 of 'Hacks' Be the Last?

Will Season 5 of 'Hacks' Be the Last? originally appeared on Parade. Hacks is officially coming back, but it's yet to be confirmed if it will be the show's curtain call. Max has renewed the Emmy-winning comedy for a fifth season, continuing the story of legendary comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her relationship with young comedy writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder). While most seasons have seen the dynamic duo at odds, the pair found themselves on the same page by the end of Season 4. While an official premiere date hasn't been announced, Hacks has consistently returned each spring, with previous seasons debuting in April or May. Season 5 is expected to follow that pattern and arrive in spring 2026. Though there have been rumors that the show was designed with a five-season arc, the press release did not mention this being the final season. Related: Of course, Hacks wouldn't be Hacks without Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. Series regulars Paul W. Downs, Megan Statler, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato and Rose Abdoo are all confirmed to return for Season 5. While the show will undoubtedly feature various cameos from Hollywood, according to the official Warner Bros. press release, guest stars for Season 5 include Dan Bucatinsky, Helen Hunt, Tony Goldwyn, Kaitlin Olson, Poppy Liu and Christopher McDonald.
