Who would have thought … the Lions favourites for first Wallabies Test

We'll also know in the coming days who the respective coaches will back for the first Test in Brisbane.
Andy Farrell, head coach of the British and Irish Lions, will name his team for the first Test against Australia in the coming days. Picture:It's still early in the week but there's already plenty of excitement about the British and Irish Lions' first Test against Australia this weekend.
Andy Farrell's side have gone through their tour unbeaten, with several players showing good form.
But they next come up against an Australian team that has lost some of its aura – did it ever have any? – and will be keen to show the world they are still a force to be reckoned with.
And, we know how the Aussies love having their backs to the wall, and there will be plenty of pride in the players; there always is when it comes to Australians and their sport.
Selections key
Of course, there is also plenty of anticipation about who Farrell will pick for the match in Brisbane on Saturday. And equally, who Joe Schmidt will put his faith in to stop the Lions' unbeaten run.
For those who can't remember, the Lions won the last series between the teams, in 2013, 2-1.
We'll know the lineups a little later in the week, but for those who want to get in on the action so long, take a look at your Betway options for the match.
At this stage, they have the Lions as pretty clear favourites at 1.28 for a win this weekend, while Australia are at 3.60. A draw is your best bet, with odds of 24.00. But what are the chances?
The fact the hosts are not the favourites is a clear indication of where Australian rugby is at the moment.
These Betway odds are correct at time of publishing and are subject to change.

West Indies cricket chief calls emergency meeting after Australia debacle

Crisis Scott Boland of Australia celebrates the dismissal of Justin Greaves of West Indies during the third day of the third Test cricket match at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. Photo: Randy Brooks/AFP West Indies cricket boss Kishore Shallow said Tuesday he had called for an "emergency meeting" involving past greats after the team was bowled out for just 27 in the third Test loss to Australia. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc took 6-9 as the West Indies made the second-lowest score in Test history, suffering a humiliating 176-run defeat at Sabina Park on Monday. West Indies just avoided New Zealand's record low of 26, set in 1955, and Shallow said there would be an inquest to review a dismal 3-0 series loss. "The result hurts deeply, not only because of how we lost, but because of what West Indies cricket has always represented to our people: pride, identity, and possibility," Kishore said in a statement.

Manchester City sign kit deal worth CRAZY money

Manchester City have signed a blockbuster new kit deal with Puma worth a reported £1 billion (R23.9 billion) over the next 10 years. Manchester City's extension of their contract with Puma ranks as the largest kit manufacturing partnership in Premier League history. Having agreed a £65 million per year deal with the German company in 2019, Manchester City's new arrangement is believed to be worth a £100 million per year until 2035, according to British media reports. That figure shatters the £90 million per year deal signed by Manchester United with Adidas in 2023. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both reported to have kit deals worth in excess of £100 million per year. 'We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons,' City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano said. 'Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally.' Puma chief executive Arthur Hoeld added: 'Puma's partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch. 'Trophies, a perfect stage for our performance products and commercial success were exceptional.' Manchester City's massive deal comes after the club's first season without major silverware since 2016/17. Pep Guardiola's men finished third in the Premier League after winning the title for the previous four seasons. They also suffered a shock FA Cup final defeat against Crystal Palace and crashed out of the recent Club World Cup in the last 16 against Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
