Amazon begins search for warehouse workers

Yahoo15-07-2025
An event has been held to recruit up to 2,000 workers for Amazon's new warehouse near Hull.
The retailer teamed up with Hull and East Riding councils to stage the event at the city's Central Library in Albion Street.
The facility at Melton West Business Park is expected to open later this year as part of Amazon's £40bn UK expansion plan.
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, Hull City Council's portfolio holder for economic renewal, said: "Amazon's investment demonstrates the confidence that global companies have in the region's economy."
Information was provided about warehouse operative roles.
Beth Dawson, who attended the event, said: "I thought this would be a great opportunity for me because I keep getting rejected from jobs. I hope I'll be able to get a job and start as soon as possible."
She said it was "really hard" to find employment and welcomed the opportunity to meet with Amazon representatives.
"I've always thought somewhere like Amazon would be a great opportunity," she said.
Another jobseeker, Hussain, who did not want to give his surname, added: "I'm looking for a job and I heard about it through the employment hub. I'd like an administrative job but at the end of the day any kind of job because I really badly need a job."
Amazon spokesman Neil Williams said: "There's a range of jobs and a wide variety of roles ranging from IT through to robotics engineers and HR professionals. There's a huge range of skills we will be looking for in recruitment and we're looking for people who want to develop a career."
Drake-Davis said the decision by Amazon to invest is "a real shot in the arm for the area's employment opportunities".

Amazon.com (AMZN) Faces Legal Action While Expanding AI Offerings

has recently witnessed a 23% price increase over the past quarter, a period marked by significant events. Apex Systems's introduction of Peak CX-AI within AWS Marketplace facilitates seamless AI tool integration, reinforcing competitive positioning. However, Amazon faces legal challenges with significant lawsuits concerning alleged market dominance abuse, which could weigh on investor sentiment. Despite these challenges, the broader market trend—with major indexes like the S&P 500 and Nasdaq reaching new highs due to strong corporate earnings—supports Amazon's rise. These aspects collectively illustrate a scenario where Amazon's initiatives align with positive market trends. Buy, Hold or Sell View our complete analysis and fair value estimate and you decide. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 22 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. Amazon's recent developments, including the introduction of Peak CX-AI within AWS Marketplace, directly contribute to its efforts to streamline operations and enhance AI services, aligning with its ongoing narrative of optimizing fulfillment and expanding advertising and AWS segments. However, legal challenges regarding market dominance could introduce uncertainties impacting investor outlook and operational forecasts. These factors are pivotal as Amazon aims to achieve an annual revenue growth of 9% and a profit margin improvement from 10.1% to 12.1% over the next three years. Over a three-year span, Amazon's total shareholder return was 89.92%, demonstrating strong performance. This robust growth exceeds the Multiline Retail industry's 29.3% return over the past year, positioning Amazon favorably against industry benchmarks. The substantial price rise coupled with the analyst consensus price target of US$250.77 indicates market confidence yet shows only a modest share price discount to this target. This suggests a relatively balanced current valuation. In terms of revenue and earnings forecasts, the technological strides in fulfillment efficiency and AI services materially boost Amazon's potential to achieve its projected 15.52% annual earnings growth. The current share price of US$232.23, closely approaching the analysts' consensus price target, reflects market enthusiasm yet highlights the importance of continued operational success and legal navigation in maintaining growth momentum. Google bull's top stock picks are Alphabet & these 2 names

Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) reported earnings that beat expectations, supporting the Google bulls on Wall Street. Gradient Investments investment analyst Lisa Schreiber, one of these bullish analysts, outlines why she's positive on Alphabet and shares two other top stock picks. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Morning Brief here. On the tariff front, um, I want to get to some of your stock picks. Um, and one of them is Amazon. And obviously the cloud business is huge, but it's interesting that the company's commentary has been that tariffs are not having a big effect there, which seems sort of counter-intuitive, Lisa. What do you make of that and why is this one one of your picks? So it's one of our picks. Uh, again, big and very compelling at the moment. It's the leader, as you said, in the cloud computing space, as well in the retail space. Um, on the retail side, again, it's, it, it lagged year to date because investors were seeing the retail side of it and the tariffs front. Uh, but Amazon especially is very, very, uh, great and has a history of finding efficiencies, having great supply chains, great distributions. They are very efficient in distributing their, uh, their products and all of that, and kind of changing from country to country. So they're very, uh, very effective in that. Again, a large part comes from the cloud computing business here. So it's very diversified. Uh, so that is is really positive and invites our pick, uh, because, um, despite it still has a larger revenue stream from retail side, it trades at the cheapest it has been in over a decade. So that is very compelling here. And we saw it in Amazon Prime Day, which was again, very positive, a little longer this year than normal, but they really show that they're great in distributing, they are great in, in finding efficiencies in inventory, uh, uh, managing, right? They have AI integrated in that now, which helps them as well. So that is very positive on that retail side, I would say. Another one of your picks is Alphabet. So you must be happy this morning, um, following the earnings, seeing the shares get a little bit of a pop. That said, Alphabet shares have largely gone nowhere this year, thus far. Is this the thing that is going to catalyze a more significant move higher? Uh, yeah, definitely. So it was a beat on the top and bottom line and especially across all business lines, right? When we see, look at cloud computing, when we look at YouTube, and I also want to mention here Waymo, right? It's not a big part of revenue as of now. It's a very small part, but they have this the cars on the street. There's a lot of frenzy about, uh, robo taxis, and Waymo is really the leader here. When we look at valuations of, of Tesla, which is mainly based on the frenzy of robo taxis, but there's not much there yet. Then we see, um, when we look at the valuation of Alphabet that this might be a little bit underestimation because they are very far ahead in that space, uh, which can again, diversify revenue streams going forward, maybe a little bit away from just the search business, which, uh, we have to get used that Alphabet will face a little bit competition there going forward. So that is very positive and a compelling story. And when we look at valuations, this is really the place where you want to be right now. And just quickly, your last pick. And this one, not, uh, sort of in the same category as the others. It's Quanta Services. In terms of sort of name recognition and whatnot. Uh, but this is an infrastructure specialty contractor. Why do you guys like this one? So we like this one especially because it's the leader in infrastructure, uh, specialty services, right? One of the largest in the US. And when we look at infrastructure build out, then we also have to think it's not only important for our daily lives, it's also important for the AI build out. And, uh, one of your guests talked about that 10 minutes ago, right? Um, AI build out does not only benefit the hyper scalers who are actually building it, it benefits the whole value chain of AI. And Quanta Services is one of that, right? Because we need the build out, uh, for being able, uh, to produce the energy needed for AI going forward. And Quanta Services is really on the, on the forefront of that. Um, it had a run up lately, so, so people are recognizing that that it's a it's, it's a great pick and a great place to be, but there's still growth prospects ahead that we think it's, it's a, it's a great story and a great place to be to play, um, a little bit the back door AI story, but in a different industry to diversify yourself.
