Chido Obi hits brace as Man Utd bounce back to beat Hong Kong

Last week's Europa League final defeat to fellow Premier League strugglers Tottenham compounded the Red Devils' worst top-flight campaign since suffering relegation 51 years ago.
United travelled to Asia straight after Sunday's game against Aston Villa for a pair of friendlies, which are worth in the region of £8million for a club facing a first season without European football since 2014-15.

Amorim's side were booed on Wednesday after losing 1-0 to the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur and returned to action in challenging conditions at the Hong Kong Stadium two days later.
Departing Jonny Evans made his final appearance for the club in a side that included captain Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, who both started amid widespread speculation over their respective futures.
United dominated from the outset but, like to so often this season, an inability to take their chances was punished as Juninho put Hong Kong ahead against the run of play with a shot that squirmed past Tom Heaton in the 19th minute.

Mason Mount was denied a penalty as the clock wound down and provided a fine 82nd-minute cross that was glanced home by striker Obi.
Ayden Heaven, who like Obi joined from Arsenal this season, completed the victory against Hong Kong with a stoppage-time header.

Manchester United sign Matheus Cunha in £62.5m deal from Wolves

Manchester United have announced the signing of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha in a £62.5 million deal. Ruben Amorim, the United manager, identified the Brazilian as a priority target. The club have landed their first signing of what is expected to be a busy summer at Old Trafford after triggering Cunha's release clause. United have agreed to pay the £62.5 million fee in three parts over two years and it is understood that Cunha, a £43 million signing from Atletico Madrid in December 2022, will earn around £200,000 a week at United and appeals to Amorim because of his ability to play in all three positions in the front line. The former Atletico Madrid forward will sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford, with the option of a further 12 months. The 26-year-old has scored 33 goals in 92 appearances in two-and-a-half seasons at Molineux and will be looking to add to his 13 appearances for Brazil at the World Cup next summer under Carlo Ancelotti. Wolves said in a statement: 'Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Matheus for his contributions in old gold and wish he and his family the best of luck for the future.'

Man United agree Matheus Cunha transfer with contract length set

Manchester United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m. The forward will put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with United possessing the option to extend his deal until 2031, after agreeing personal terms. The transfer will be officially completed when Cunha returns from international duty with Brazil and subject to a visa, which is expected to be a formality. United triggered Cunha's release clause at Molineux last week and will pay the fee in instalments over the next two years. Cunha will become United's third buy in Ruben Amorim 's reign, after Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu, and much the biggest. But while he is the first part of their plan to reshape the attack, they face defeat in another with Ipswich's Liam Delap preferring to join Chelsea instead of United. Cunha scored 15 Premier League goals for Wolves last season, earning a further six assists, while no United player scored more than eight times in the top flight as they came 15th, their worst finish in half a century. Amorim was quick to target Cunha as a player who could add goals to the United attack, but there is uncertainty about who else will be in contention for a place next season. Captain Bruno Fernandes has received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, which he is considering, though Amorim has said he is confident his fellow Portuguese will stay. Marcus Rashford will return to Old Trafford after the end of his loan spell at Aston Villa, but seems to have no future there with United putting a £40m price on him and Barcelona going public in their interest. Antony's productive loan spell at Real Betis has ended but he is likely to be available for transfer while United are waiting to discover if Chelsea will complete a deal for Jadon Sancho or pay a £5m penalty and return him to Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho is unsettled and was unhappy not to start the Europa League final.
