Yahoo20-05-2025

'Big Mouth' may be ending, but the team behind the show is staying in business with Netflix.
Variety has learned that the streamer has ordered the adult animated comedy series 'Mating Season' from Brutus Pink, the company that produces 'Big Mouth.' The new series will debut in 2026. Per the official description, 'Mating Season' is 'set in the animal world starring a cast of bears, raccoons, deer, foxes and a host of other horny, lovable forest critters, as they navigate love, sexual relationships and the universal need to hook up and find a partner.'

''Big Mouth' broke new ground in the world of adult animation with heart, humor and total chaos — they took the awkwardness of adolescence and turned it into something universal and deeply human,' said John Derderian, vice president of animation aeries at Netflix. 'Working with Nick Kroll and the brilliant minds at Brutus Pink over the course of eight seasons has been legendary. Now, with 'Mating Season,' they'll bring that same bold and hilarious creativity into the animal kingdom. We're beyond excited to unleash this next chapter together.'
'Mating Season' is created and executive produced by Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg and Nick Kroll with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers for Titmouse.
'After eight incredible seasons telling stories about growing up, we're excited to tell stories about actual grown-ups. Who happen to be animals. Who are also cartoons,' the Brutus Pink team said.
The eighth and final season of 'Big Mouth' debuts on May 23. Ahead of the premiere, Kroll and others from the show will be going on what has been dubbed the 'Big Mouth Swallows America Farewell Tour.' The tour will see the gang screening new episodes while also dropping exclusive merchandise. Tickets are now available.
'There is no better way to celebrate a global phenomenon like 'Big Mouth' than driving a yellow van from Dallas to Tampa to Chicago and all points West,' the Brutus Pink team said. 'Honestly though, it is exciting to give audiences around the country the chance to get a special first peek at the final season of 'Big Mouth' before it's unleashed on the rest of the globe.'

When Will Karate Kid: Legends Get Its Digital & Streaming Release Date?

Following Karate Kid: Legends' recent theatrical debut, fans are eagerly waiting for its digital and streaming release date. The sixth installment of the Karate Kid franchise, the movie centers on, Li Fong played by Ben Wang. He is joined by two franchise veterans Jackie Chan's Mr. Han and Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso. Without further ado, here's everything we know about Karate Kid: Legends' digital and streaming debut. Karate Kid: Legends has yet to announce its digital release date. However, based on past trends, we can speculate that the film will debut on PVOD in July or August. As per the site DVD Release Dates, the movie will become available for purchase or rent as Digital HD on Prime Video and iTunes on August 26, 2025. Meanwhile, Forbes has estimated the PVOD release to be between July 1 and July 15. The DVD and Blu-Ray release has not been announced yet. Karate Kid: Legends will debut on Netflix for streaming. Netflix is currently under a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment that allows all its movies to make their streaming debut on Netflix, following their theatrical run. As a movie distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, Karate Kid: Legends will be no exception. Sony movies typically take around three to four months after their theatrical debut to debut on streaming. This window also depends on a movie's box-office performance. For example, Sony's recent horror thriller Heart Eyes arrived on Netflix on May 8. It is a little over three months from its theatrical release on February 7. Thus, if Karate Kid: Legends follows this trend, fans can expect to get it on Netflix anytime between August 29 and September 26. Having said that, viewers need to wait for Sony and Netflix to reveal the official streaming release date. The latest addition to the beloved Karate Kids franchise, Karate Kid: Legends is a continuation of 2010's Karate Kid, as well as Netflix's martial arts series Cobra Kai. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio return as Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso respectively, while Ben Wang steps in as Li Fong, the movie's leading star. Other cast members include Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, and more.

Will there be a season 2 of Department Q?: From cast reactions to potential plots

At the end of last week Netflix dropped their newest thriller series Department Qand it's safe to say fans are already begging for another season (hi yes, we're fans). The nine-part series follows grumpy Detective Morck (Matthew Goode) who is assigned a new department at the police station in Edinburgh, where he's given cold cases to solve. For his first job he choses to solve the mysterious disappearance of prosecutor Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie) who went missing four years previously. Since the show was released on Thursday last week (29 May), fans have taken to social media to praise the series, and crucially share their enthusiasm for another season. One person wrote on X: "Season 2 of Department Q needs to happen 100%. Such an amazing cast and I was hooked all the way through. I already want more. Please make it happen." While someone else said: "Need #departmentq season 2 greenlit immediately! this was excellent," and another wrote: "Dear @netflix please please please please do a second season of #departmentQ - it's THAT GOOD." So is Netflix going to answer our prayers and give us a season two? Well here's what we know so far. Right now there's been no word from Netflix on the show getting renewed. However, there's a lot of reasons to be hopeful the show will come back. Department Q is based on a series of books by Jussi Adler-Olsen and so there's already a number of existing plots and angles the show could carry on exploring. There's 10 books in the series so could this potentially translate to another nine series? And in even more encouraging news, many of the cast have expressed their interest in returning for another season. Chloe Pirrie, who plays Merritt in the series, told Cosmopolitan UK she hopes the show does return. "I think it would be really great for the cast," she said. "And great for Scotland to have a show like this run again. It's definitely something we would all want." Speaking to Yahoo last week, series lead Matthew Goode told the publication, "that's the hope," when asked about a season two. He also added he wanted to see more of Alexej's Manvelov's character Akram in a potential season two, saying: "I was saying to Scott [Frank, the show's creator] the other day, what we really need to do is, A, season 2, and we need to get Alexej into eight weeks of Krav Magar training so the fight scenes in season 2 can be amazing. It's going to be a sort of Syrian Bourne." Manvelov is also keen of the show to return, telling Yahoo: "Hopefully we get to come back down." As for the show's creator Scott Frank? Well he's very keen for the show to get a second run as he felt there was more to explore with the cast and plots. "The last three shows I made were meant to be one and done," he told the BBC. "There was no more to say but I'd love to do more with this and the next book in the series is even more interesting and relevant." Well as Scott says there's a lot more to play with when it comes to Department Q as the TV series is inspired by a number of books by Jussi Adler-Olsen. The first series is inspired by the novel Mercy, which follows a similar plotline to the TV series. If the Netflix show were to then follow the order of the Department Q books the next one to be adapted would be The Absent One. The Absent One is about Detective Morck solving another cold case, this time involving the double murder of a brother and sister who were killed two decades ago. One of the suspects for the crime is serving time, however Carl suspects everything is not quite what it seems and there are still some questions that need answering. We also never get a proper answer as to what happened with Carl during the initial shoot-out and who was responsible for the death of the police officer at the beginning of the season, and so we'd hope to get some answers to this if the show were to be renewed. If the show were to return for a second season, we of course can't imagine it without Matthew Goode as Detective Carl Morck. We'd also hope to see Alexej Manvelov and Leah Byrne reprise their roles as Morck's team members Akram and Rose. We'd also imagine Kelly Macdonald returning as Dr Rachel Irving, Kate Dickie as Moira, Aaron McVeigh as Jasper and Jamie Sives as James Hardy. There's also a possibility Chloe Pirrie could reprise her role as Merritt Lingard and Mark Bonnar as Stephen Burns, if Detective Morck sees his cases end up in court. Department Q is available on Netflix now

Meghan Markle's Instagram Views Compared to William and Kate

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Meghan Markle's Instagram reels have had more views in 2025 than Prince William and Princess Kate's despite having far fewer followers. The Duchess of Sussex had been off social media for almost four years before her surprise return on January 1, 2025. The move came ahead of a flurry of new projects, her Netflix cooking show With Love, Meghan, her online shop As Ever and her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder. Prince William and Princess Kate in front of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Commonwealth Day service, at Westminster Abbey, in London, on March 9, 2020. Phil Harris -Why It Matters Despite her long absence from Instagram, Meghan appeared to quickly regain a substantial audience, leaving her well placed to market her businesses directly to fans. And it is doubly striking that she has quickly exceeded William and Kate's established audience, who have been consistently served videos from their royal engagements dating back years. Meghan Markle's Instagram Account The duchess posts pictures and videos connected to her lifestyle brand and Netflix show, as well as her personal life, and has 3 million followers. Her most viewed reel announced she was rebranding her online shop from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever and has had 26.9 million views since February 17. The post with the least views got 2.7 million and showed her arranging flowers set to the LL Cool J song Doin' It. Across 22 reels, she has had a total of 168 million views and an average of 7.6 million per post. Meghan's 2025 Stats Followers: 3 million Number of Reels: 22 Total Views: 168 million Top Reel: 26.9 million Average Views: 7.6 million Fewest Views: 2.7 million Prince William and Princess Kate's Instagram The Prince and Princess of Wales have had their Instagram for far longer and also post across a range of other platforms, including Twitter and YouTube. Their most viewed post of the year so far was a collaboration with science influencer Big Manny, a favorite among British parents and teenagers, which gained 17.6 million views. Next came a video released to mark Prince Louis' birthday in May, which got 11 million views and showed him playing and jumping in woodland. Their least viewed video was a post from March 11 about Prince William learning to be a soccer referee which got 1.1 million views. Their lower view count came despite having 16.8 million followers, almost six times as many as Meghan. William and Kate's 2025 Stats Followers: 16.8 million Number of Reels: 47 Total Views: 134.8 million Top Reel: 17.6 million Average Views: 2.8 million Fewest Views: 1.1 million Analysis One reason Meghan's posts gain more audience than William and Kate's despite her lower follower count may be that her Instagram is the only place to get updates directly from her. By contrast, not only do William and Kate have other social media accounts but most of their videos show royal engagements that were also covered live by British journalists and photographers from the royal rota. Their Instagram reels are therefore a stylized, more curated version of content already in the public domain, and are less frequently the original source for major announcements. For example, Meghan announced As Ever through an Instagram video, meaning news of the relaunch began with her post which was then widely cited as the source for follow up news stories. Yet, Princess Kate's announcement that she was in remission from cancer began with a press release about a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital around lunch time. This generated an initial wave of stories about her visit, at which journalists and photographers were present, followed up later by an announcement in text form that she was in remission. Separately, she posted an Instagram reel about the January 14 visit but it did not mention the key news that she was in remission, simply stating: "The work of the @royalmarsden is world-leading, pioneering and lifesaving. "It's a remarkable charity supporting advances in cancer research, treatment and care, and the work of a hospital that has done so much for so many." The Instagram reel got 4.5 million views, some way below the couple's peek of 17.6 million. Needless to say, it will have been encouraging for Meghan to see high view counts on her Instagram posts after such a long absence. Not only does she have fewer followers than William and Kate but she has also not caught up with her and Prince Harry's now defunct Sussex Royal, which had 8.8 million followers compared to Meghan's 3 million. The views on her reels, however, show that follower numbers are not the only or even the most reliable way to measure the reach of a specific account. Additionally, Meghan may well have been relieved to see she can still generate significant audience after months of negative reviews in both the American and British media.
