Mary Fowler's love letter to Nathan Cleary sends a signal their love is stronger than ever

Mary Fowler's love letter to Nathan Cleary sends a signal their love is stronger than ever

Daily Mail2 hours ago
Perhaps it was coincidence, or perhaps it was a clear signal to their haters, either way Mary Fowler made a statement about her committment to NRL boyfriend Nathan Cleary on Thursday.
There had been reports the power couple were on shaky ground after social media posts and public appearances began to dry up.
However she has put those suggestions to bed with a defiant single-letter message to those doubting their love.
Fowler was present at CommBank Stadium on Thursday night to support Cleary in their 22-18 loss to the Melbourne Storm, along with his mother Bec.
She wore a Penrith Panthers hoodie and notably, a beige cap with the letter 'N' emblazoned on it, the first letter of her beau Nathan's name.
It comes after Fowler made big strides to put an end to rumours about her relationship with Panthers star Nathan Cleary by making a surprise appearance in the crowd at CommBank Stadium.
Talk of a split had intensified after reports claimed the pair had spent little time together since Fowler arrived in Australia in July.
Those whispers were silenced when she was spotted at the ground alongside Nathan's mum, Bec, cheering on Penrith as Cleary starred in a 36-2 win over the Tigers, their seventh straight victory.
Fowler suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Manchester City 's FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester United, which required a full knee reconstruction and likely sideline her for much of 2025.
Under the guidance of Matildas coach Joe Montemurro, she is currently doing running work in Sydney and aiming for a comeback by November 2025 - just seven months after her injury.
Cleary and Fowler began making headlines in late 2023, when photos emerged of the pair together in Sydney during the NRL off-season.
Their connection appeared to strengthen over the following months, with Cleary travelling to the United States in early 2024, where the two were seen together in Los Angeles during Fowler's time with Manchester City's women's team on tour.
They became a regular talking point for fans and media alike, appearing in social media posts and being spotted together both in Australia and overseas, which fuelled public fascination with the high-profile sporting couple.
Speculation about a possible split emerged mid-2024 when reports claimed they had spent extended periods apart due to Fowler's club commitments in England and Cleary's NRL season.
Cleary and Fowler's romance has been under the spotlight since late 2023 when they were first photographed together in Sydney
That lead to suggestions their demanding schedules might take a toll on the relationship.
The Matildas are preparing for a series of international friendlies later this year as part of their build-up to the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup.
Montemurro is expected to use these matches to test squad depth while key players like Sam Kerr and Fowler work through injury recoveries.
The long-term focus remains on securing qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and building a squad capable of challenging for medals.
The Penrith Panthers will look to bounce back next week when they face the Canberra Raiders at home.
With finals approaching, the Panthers aim to regain momentum and secure a top-four position on the NRL ladder to push for an historic five-peat.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett's daughter Willow, 24, sparks concern posting a crying selfie with X-rated message

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett's daughter Willow sparked concern this week after she uploaded a photo of herself crying to social media alongside an X-rated caption. The singer, 24, uploaded the worrying selfie to her Instagram Story on Wednesday for her 11.5 million followers to see. The close-up photo showed Willow, who has multiple piercings and a neck tattoo, staring off into the distance with tears streaming down her face. Willow, who has previously hinted that she's interested in both men and women sexually, added the shocking caption: 'who ate all the p***y' While Willow may have intended her post to be humorous, fans were left worried for her well-being. 'Is she ok? She does not seem like she's ok' penned on concerned fan on X (formerly Twitter). Some social media users even went as far as to place blame on Willow's famous parents for her emotional outburst. The singer, 24, uploaded the worrying selfie to her Instagram Story on Wednesday for her 11.5 million followers to see One harsh comment read: 'Will Smith and Jada have utterly failed as parents.' Several commenters went on to slam the Smith family as 'broken' and 'weird' as they reacted to Willow's selfie on X. Some even suggested that Willow posted the crying photo and outrageous caption with the sole purpose of 'trolling' people online — something they suggested her brother Jaden Smith, 27, has done in the past. However, many of Willow's fans came to her defense as they praised her for being 'unfiltered' on social media unlike many of the other kids of A-list stars. 'This is the most unexpected caption of the year,' penned on X user, with another adding: 'she's so real for this' Willow's IG post also sparked conversations about her sexuality. Willow first came out as bisexual in 2019. And in April 2024, she offered further insight into her sexuality and gender identity. At the time, she shared with fans that she sees herself somewhere between 'heterosexual' and 'bi/pansexual.' Will Smith and Jada Pinkett's daughter Willow sparked concern this week after she uploaded a photo of herself crying to social media alongside an X-rated caption; seen in Febraury As for her gender, she indicated using an emoji that she mostly identifies as 'female' but with a slight lean towards 'non-binary.' Willow has been most open about her polyamorous lifestyle, which is when someone has 'open intimate or romantic relationships with more than one person at a time,' according to Verywell Mind. She actually spoke about being polyamorous for the first time while appearing on her mom Jada's Facebook chat show Red Table Talk back in 2021. 'The history of marriage really irks me. Just the history of marriage as a whole and what it has represented over the years, for women in particular,' she told Jada and her grandmother, Adrienne Banfield-Norrison, who is the show's co-host. 'With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you and not just stepping into monogamy because that's what everyone around you says is the right thing to do,' Willow explained. 'So, I was like, "How can I structure the way that I approach relationships with that in mind?"' However, Willow admitted that she couldn't ever see herself going 'past two partners' in a relationship. The online discourse about Willow comes six months after she and Jaden accompanied their dad Will to the 2025 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California. Will skipped the star-studded red carpet and, instead, let his kids steal the spotlight at the Arena. He reunited with Willow and Jaden inside the arena, where they watched the likes of Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan and Beyonce take the stage from the comfort of VIP seats. Missing from the action was Will's wife Jada, who revealed back in 2023 that she and the Men In Black star had been secretly separated for seven years, beginning in 2016. The admission came three years after Jada's marriage to Will came under public scrutiny in 2020, when she interviewed him on her show Red Table Talk about an 'entanglement' she had four years earlier with their son's friend August Alsina, who is 21 years her junior. News of Jada's fling with August first emerged in early 2020 - but she and her spouse initially denied the allegations, claiming they were 'absolutely not true'. While the 'entanglement' put major strain on the couple's 30-year relationship, neither Will or Jada have ever filed for divorce. Earlier this year, it was reported that the couple were continuing to live in separate homes, though sources insisted that they are still together. Will and Jada 'are living their own lives but haven't completely severed ties,' a source told PEOPLE in January. 'Call it what you want,' the outlet's source added. Meanwhile, another inside said the pair, who got married in 1997, are 'still together' but 'have had separate homes for years.' In 2023 it was reported that Jada had her own house nearby to Will in Calabasas — the same year she confirmed their separation. Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, Jada claimed her and Will were 'still figuring it out. We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together. 'We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.' While promoting her memoir Worthy on the Today show two years ago, Jada gave insight into her marital woes and told host Hoda Kotb that the relationship had left them 'exhausted.' 'I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying,' Jada admitted. 'I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,' she explained of what caused them to drift apart. In Jada's book, she describes the separation as a 'divorce,' but clarified they never filed any paperwork. 'It was not a divorce on paper. But it was a divorce,' Jada said. Meanwhile Will wrote in his 2021 memoir, Will, that there were times in their marriage when they were both 'miserable and clearly something had to change.' Jada later revealed how the pair found their way back to each other after Will infamously slapped comedian Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars. The confrontation took place after Rock made a joke about Jada's shaved head, prompting Will to make his way to the stage, slap the presenter and say 'keep my wife's name out of your f**king mouth.'. 'That was a moment that I knew I would never leave Will's side after all those years thinking I would,' she told Extra. 'I didn't go in there as his wife, but I was leaving as his wife,' she added. 'You know, it's funny how intense situations can amplify love, and it was a pretty difficult time, but it definitely drew us closer. So yeah, it's crazy how things work.' While speaking to Daily Mail's YOU Magazine, Jada said 'many positive things came after' Smith slapped Rock. 'After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will's side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him. Who knows where our relationship would be if that hadn't happened?' After Jada spoke publicly about their marital estrangement, Will followed up with his own comments on the situation. In an email published in the New York Times, Will said her comments on their relationship were a wake-up call to him, adding that she was more 'resilient, clever and compassionate' than he'd realized. The King Richard actor told the paper, 'When you've been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in. 'And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.' Despite the strides they've made in their relationship, Will and Jada have not been photographed together publicly since November 2024.

Why transgender athlete believes she will be BANNED from the Olympics despite representing Australia for eight years

A transgender athlete blocked from playing AFLW is now fearing a fresh ban that would stop her from representing Australia at the Los Angeles Olympics. In 2017, transgender footballer Hannah Mouncey was ruled ineligible for the AFL Women's draft under the league's gender diversity policy, which assessed physical attributes such as strength, stamina, and physique. The AFL said her inclusion could have an 'unreasonable physical advantage' over other players, a decision that drew criticism from advocates who argued it was discriminatory. Mouncey, who had previously represented Australia in men's handball, was later allowed to play in state-level women's competitions, including the VFLW. Now, the 35-year-old has returned to her first love, playing handball for Australia with a view to represent her country at the Los Angeles Olympics. Mouncey made her debut for Australia's women's national handball team in late 2018, competing at the Asian Women's Handball Championship in November. She remains an integral part of the Australian women's handball team which hopes to qualify for the LA Olympics in 2028 and then gain automatic qualification for the Brisbane 2032 Games. However, Mouncey doesn't expect her dream to come true, expecting rising anti-Transgender athlete sentiment to slam the door shut on her. 'I expect to be banned by the end of the year, if I am honest,' she told the Sacked podcast. 'It seems like that is where they are going at the moment, they are looking probably at a ban across the board, and not just for trans athletes, but intersex athletes. They will be forced to compete in the men's competition. 'But I am playing for Australia at the moment, I have played for the Australian women's team for seven or eight years now, and I have had no issues really at all, especially from overseas. 'I have been very open about it with the international federations, they have been fantastic, the Asian handball federation has no issues at all. 'I have competed in the Asian championships and had no issues and no other teams I have played against in those competitions have ever raised any concerns or issues at all. 'It is the exact opposite, and from countries where people might be more conservative. I have had such positive responses from some of the girls from Iran and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.' Just before the 2016 Rio Olympics, the IOC updated its policy on transgender athletes, permitting them to compete in the Olympics and other international events without the requirement of sex reassignment surgery. The International Handball Federation updated its statutes in February, 2024, permitting the inclusion of transgender athletes. 'The IHF tolerates no discrimination of any kind against a country, private person or groups of people on the grounds of racial origin, gender, language, religion or politics,' the statutes read. Despite that, Mouncey continues to face opposition to her inclusion in the Australian Women's Handball team. Canadian William Allen, who was born a man and lived 30 years as a transgender woman before de-transitioning back a man, has been a vocal opponent. Australian media personality Lucy Zelić and Giggle app developer Sall Grover have been strongly opposed to transgender women competing in women's sports. In June 2022, FINA, the international governing body for swimming, introduced a policy that effectively bans most transgender women from competing in elite women's events. In March 2023, the IAAF - now known as World Athletics - announced new regulations that ban transgender women who have gone through male puberty from competing in elite female track and field events. Which has made Mouncey feel that other sports are next, including her own. 'The fight is hard. What makes me good as an athlete is also the thing that's probably my downfall outside of that, and that is I can't walk away from a fight,' she said. 'There is pressure from a vocal minority and we know that FINA has banned trans people as has the IAAF. There is huge pressure from the United States government as hosts of the next Olympics. And they are very anti trans anyway. 'But I think the evidence in this is that if there was this problem of trans people having an unfair advantage, we would know it by now in the results. But we don't have it. 'There is obviously a fairness element to it, and I am a big believer in that there has to be restrictions there. I have always advocated for that. 'But where the IOC is now where you need 12-24 months of hormone treatment is spot on as someone who has been through it. 'I started hormone treatment after we got back from Qatar to try to qualify for the Rio Olympics and in November 2015 I squatted 200 kilograms, benched 150kg, cleaned 140kg. 'Within 12 months everything had dropped by two thirds across the board. My quad had gone down to 60 or 65, my bench had dropped to 50. 'People don't understand that it is because you lose testosterone from the body and that has an impact across the board.'

Popular festival announces huge comeback with iconic US rockers headlining after 2024 cancellation and live music bloodbath

Harvest Rock Festival has returned with a bang after suffering a cancellation last year. The iconic Adelaide music event announced its 2025 lineup in an Instagram post on Thursday, revealing that iconic rock band The Strokes would be headlining the event in October. Bragging 14.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, a platinum album and numerous awards - including a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2021 - the band are a huge addition to the festival's program. Also on the stacked list of performers is The War On Drugs, M.I.A and Jelly Roll, as well as beloved Aussie favourites Vance Joy, Wolfmother, Lime Cordiale, Royel Otis and The Jungle Giants. Taking place at Rymill Park and King Rodney Park in the heart of Adelaide on October 25 and 26, the festival's return has sent waves through the live music circuit. Presale tickets will be available for purchase on August 19, and general sale will be open to the public on August 20. Last year fans were left heartbroken after the festival was scrapped just months before it was set to take place. In August 2024, Harvest Rock organisers announced on Instagram that the show would not go on, marking the first time it had been cancelled since its inception in 2011. 'We've been working hard to make Harvest Rock III another incredible event, however we have made the difficult decision to not hold the festival in 2024,' the post read. 'We appreciate the ongoing support of the South Australian Government and we look forward to Harvest Rock in the future.' Secret Sounds, the promoter of the event, is understood to have been unable to book a headline act for the 2024 event, the Adelaide Advertiser reported. However, the exact reason for the cancellation was not indicated by either Harvest Rock music festival or Secret Sounds. Harvest Rock Festival's impressive 2025 lineup comes as a glimmer of hope for Aussie music fans as the live music scene takes a brutal beating. Popular music festivals have been dropping like flies over the past year, with Listen Out being the latest casualty of Australia's dwindling music scene. R'n'B festival Souled Out was also cancelled in February, with all three shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane dropped. Similarly, Victorian event The Esoteric Psychedelic Circus Festival was canned. And in a big blow to the Aussie music scene, organisers announced earlier this year that Splendour in the Grass will not be returning in 2025.
