'The Price is Right' host Drew Carey worried about 'killing' show after taking over for Bob Barker
With more than 3,300 episodes under his belt over 18 years, Drew Carey still feels like the "new guy" on "The Price is Right."
"They told me it was my 3,317th episode. Sometimes I feel like it's not that long, and sometimes I feel like I've always been there," the 66-year-old comedian told Variety as the show celebrates 10,000 episodes since it began with host Bob Barker in 1972.
"Bob Barker is two-thirds. I'm still the new guy!" he joked after he was told that he has hosted one-third of the show's run.
Barker retired from the show after 35 years in 2007 and died two years ago. He was 99 years old.
He mainly wanted "to not be responsible for ruining the show or killing it," he shared. "I knew there was such a culture there, and I really wanted to honor that culture and not rock the boat. And I also wanted to make it my own, but without stepping on anybody's toes."
Carey said he was told he had "big shoes to fill" when he took over for Barker, but he said he wanted to make the iconic show his own.
"I want to honor the show — certainly — and not forget about the importance of him and the path that he blazed. It's very important to keep the memory of Bob alive. I'm not replacing anybody. I'm just doing a show that he used to do."
"I don't need to walk in his shoes; I brought my own shoes," the former "Whose Line is it Anyway" host said.

He compared the shift in hosting to a house remodel.
"It was the same structure, but it needed new drapes and wallpaper, you know what I mean?" he said. "You don't wanna change the show, but you wanna freshen it up a little bit."
Carey also changed the way the host is introduced at the beginning of the show.
"The star of the show" was changed to simply "host."
"I am not the star of the show; the contestants are the star," he explained. "I'm not downplaying my role on the show, but people tune in to see the interaction of the contestants, and they want somebody there to interact with them in a good way — because they're the stars."

Ryan Gosling puts the 'not' in 'Astronaut' in the new trailer for 'Project Hail Mary.' The upcoming sci-fi film, based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name, stars Gosling as middle school teacher turned reluctant astronaut Ryland Grace, who's tasked with saving humanity from the effects of a dimming sun. However, when he wakes up from a coma as the sole survivor aboard a spaceship, he must overcome his amnesia to remember where he is and why he was sent there. 'It's an insanely ambitious story that's massive in scope and it seemed really hard to make, and that's kind of our bag,' Gosling said of 'Project Hail Mary' at CinemaCon in April, where he debuted footage from the film, according to Variety. 'This is why we go to the movies. And I'm not just saying it because I'm in it. I'm also saying it because I'm a producer on the film.' The trailer, released Monday by Amazon MGM Studios, opens with Gosling startling awake on the spacecraft, his hair and beard uncharacteristically long. 'I'm several light-years from my apartment,' he proclaims, 'and I'm not an astronaut.' It then jolts back in time to show Grace pre-launch as he learns from Eva Stratt (Sandra Hüller) that if he does not journey into space, everything on Earth will go extinct. According to Stratt, who heads the mission, Grace is the only scientist who might understand what is happening to the sun and surrounding stars. The trailer, which progresses through an intense montage set to Harry Styles' 'Sign of the Times,' teases Gosling's signature humor. 'I can't even moonwalk!' the 'Barbie' actor declares at one point. (Gosling portrayed moonwalker Neil Armstrong in another recent space movie, Damien Chazelle's 'First Man.') Everything leads up to Grace meeting an alien, who isn't shown in full — but fans of the book know it plays an integral role in saving planet Earth and beyond. The film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, marks the second book-to-movie adaptation for Weir, whose novel 'The Martian' became an Oscar-nominated 2015 blockbuster starring Matt Damon. An adaptation for his book 'Artemis' is also in development with the same directing team. 'Project Hail Mary' hits theaters March 20.

Will The Bear Get A Season 5?
Season four of The Bear is officially a-go, after it aired in the UK on June 26. The FX and Hulu comedy-drama starring Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri dropped all 10 episodes at once, as is customary for the hit series. While fans have been waiting a year for the new season, they'll inevitably be wondering about where the show will go next once they've finished bingeing. Here's what we know about the future of The Bear so far. As of right now, The Bear hasn't been renewed for a fifth season. When John Landgraf, head of FX, was asked if season four would be the last, he wasn't sure. 'These decisions are really creative decisions,' he told Variety in 2024. 'It was Sterlin Harjo who made a decision that Rez Dogs was a three-season series. And so it's really Chris [Storer's] decision on The Bear. It's about, how much more story does he have to tell? I mean, obviously, I'm hoping he has more than one more season of story to tell. But not to the extent that if there was one great season or three mediocre ones, I'd rather have one great one. You just have to follow the creative.' Season 4 end with Carmy announcing he is making his exit plans for the restaurant, waiting only for things to stabilise, secretly removing his name from the restaurant's partnership agreement. He tells Sydney cooking doesn't feel like his passion anymore, making her the de factor leader. She proposes Richie and Carmy's sister, Natalie, join the team as partners. Carmy also reveals he attended his late brother's funeral, but couldn't go inside, adding to the story of their shared grief. Natalie, Richie, and Carmy share a cathartic moment of understanding. Season 5 would likely be about Carmy's exit and a changing of the guard, if The Bear continues. It would be expected that series regulars would return, including: Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, Lionel Boyce, Matty Matheson, and many others. During their Saturday date, they even matched in white ensembles, with Swift wearing a houndstooth Balmain dress. In December, a source told Us Weekly that Swift believes Kelce is her person. 'Taylor does feel like Travis is The One, but jumping in[to marriage] is not her style,' the source said. 'That's just not how she does [things]. Marriage is a big deal, and she wants [it to be] forever.' On June 12, a source told People that Swift is thrilled to have a lighter travel schedule, giving her more time to support Kelce during his upcoming NFL season. 'Taylor plans to be at as many of his games as possible,' the source said. 'They've both had such demanding schedules for so long, so having this stretch of time where things aren't quite as chaotic feels like a welcome change. It's a chance for them to settle into more of a routine and they're both really happy about that.'
