I had to wash my hair every day in summer but miracle £7 shampoo means it never gets greasy & is a beauty game-changer
But if you're anything like me, you'll struggle to keep your hair tamed in the heat.

Typically, the ends of my hair end up dry and frizzy, while the top half ends up a sweaty, greasy mess from the heat.
Unfortunately, this means that I end up having to wash my hair every single evening, especially as my fringe has the tendency to stick to my forehead due to the grease.
But there are plenty of options to keep your hair from getting oily as quickly, so I decided to put them to the test.
There is shampoo specifically dedicated for oily scalps, pre-shampoo treatments and hair refreshers to instantly banish grease.
So, with that being said, Fabulous Reporter Leanne Hall put them to the test to see which worked best.
The Everyday-er
The Kérastase Genesis duo is designed for those with normal to oily hair in mind.
The shampoo has a nice lather to it and doesn't dry the hair out, making it perfect for regular use.
I noticed my hair didn't get as greasy as quickly, but it's gentler than others I tried and didn't keep my hair grease-free for days.
The conditioner was also lovely and instantly detangled my hair and left it frizz-free.
The only downside of this is the price, at £64 I can't say it's something I would rush to grab again.
My hair's so thin you can see my scalp but miracle £8 buy fixes it in seconds
When You're In Big Trouble
There aren't many 'oily hair' shampoos that actually leave your scalp squeaky clean, but this one did not disappoint.
After a particularly hot day outside, my hair looked practically wet from the grease so I figured it was the perfect time to test it out.
I was stunned by how quickly this £15.50 shampoo got to work, before I even started my second wash, my scalp already felt fresh and clean.
While this was effective and kept my hair oil-free for days, I can imagine this would be too harsh to use every hair wash day, so I'd recommend using it once a week or every fortnight as a detoxifying shampoo.
The Extra Step
Scalp care is a beauty trend we're all hearing more about these days and this product targets the scalp directly.
The salicylic acid in this £15 scalp treatment helps to remove build-up from products and any dead skin flakes and balances oil level production on the scalp.
I put this on my scalp after wetting my hair and let it sit for ten minutes.
While washing it off, I felt my scalp was much fresher and it created the perfect clean surface to then apply my shampoo for the ultimate deep clean.
One thing I noticed is that because this is a liquid product, it easily ended up getting into my mouth which wasn't pleasant.
Hairstyles that are kind to your locks
Loose Braids: Opt for loose, soft braids rather than tight ones to minimise tension on the scalp and reduce breakage.
Low Ponytail: A low ponytail is less stressful on your hair compared to high, tight ponytails. Use a fabric-covered hair tie to avoid snagging.
Messy Bun: A relaxed, messy bun can be both stylish and kind to your hair. Avoid pulling your hair too tightly and use gentle hair ties.
Soft Waves: Embrace your natural texture or use heatless methods to create soft waves, reducing the need for damaging heat styling tools.
Half-Up, Half-Down: This style keeps some hair pulled back while leaving the rest down, reducing the strain on your scalp.
Headbands and Scarves: Using headbands or scarves can keep hair out of your face without causing damage, and they can be quite fashionable.
Loose Plaits for Sleeping: Before bed, loosely plait your hair to prevent tangles and breakage overnight.
Ultimate Refresher
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) Dry Shampoo, £25
This dry shampoo is pricey at £25, but it's one of the best on the market.
It's the perfect product for when you're hair is beyond greasy but you really can't be bothered to give t a wash.
I applied it at a 20cm distance from my hair, focusing on the roots and left it to soak in for ten minutes before giving it a brush.
It instantly absorbed all of the oil without leaving a gross sticky residue on my scalp.
Not only did it get rid of the grease, it left my hair looking and smelling fresh for two more days.
This is a must-have for any summer festivals, weekend breaks or on the go if you're not feeling a full wash routine.
Prevention Taken
This £17.99 scalp serum can be used daily on dry hair and while most serums have an oil to them, this one actually helps get rid of oil.
I didn't see a dramatic change to my oil levels immediately, but I did find that the longer I used it, the less often I noticed my fringe going greasy and sticking to my forehead.
One thing to be careful of is that using too much can make your roots feel heavy.
THE WINNER
Fresh For Days
Neutrogena T/Gel Anti Dandruff Shampoo, £6.99
This Neutrogena shampoo turned out to be the best out of the bunch and the most cost-effective at just £6.99.
It immediately made my hair feel less greasy, removed build-up and my hair didn't get greasy even in the summer heat for about four days, which is practically unheard of.
While it is powerful at cleaning the scalp, it didn't dry it out and was relatively cheap too.
This is perfect to use for every hair wash day during the summer and as a weekly deep clean in winter.

Welcome to Wilderness! Paddleboard yoga, hot tubs and a long table banquet... it can only be the most achingly middle-class festival of 2025
Don't worry about wellies and toilet queues … but you might want to brush up on your yoga at Britain's most middle class festival. Lucky attendees at this year's Wilderness Festival only needed their best table manners and swimsuits for the four-day event at Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire. Staged near Charlbury, this year's eclectic schedule boasted 'feasting seats and picnics', art classes, a lakeside spa, sauna, wellbeing classes, alongside both paddleboarding and aerial yoga. Meanwhile, a sumptuous so-called 'long- table banquet' was hosted by Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith, 85, featuring a menu including whipped goat's cheese with roasted pickled tomatoes, as well as hot honey and toasted seed and apricot tart tatin with honey and thyme ice cream. While organisers encouraged guests to 'find their wild', the middle-class mood appeared to be rather more tame and sedate – with television presenter Denise Van Outen, 51, and model Daisy Lowe, 36, among this year's attendees. The event, where adult camping tickets reportedly went for around £290, was presented by luxury car brand Audi, and promised a 'weekend of boundless escapism, daring adventures, and pure joy'.

Lando Norris shares kiss with on-off model girlfriend Margarida Corceiro following Hungarian Grand Prix win - a day after going public again
Lando Norris delivered a masterclass at the Hungaroring, holding off team-mate Oscar Piastri to claim victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Brit notched his fifth win of the 2025 season and a vital haul as he closed the championship gap to just nine points going into the summer break. Norris celebrated the result by planting a celebratory kiss on his long-time on-and-off girlfriend Margarida Corceiro, as the Portuguese model looked on proudly in parc ferme after the race. After months away from the public eye, the pair returned to the paddock again on Saturday, turning up together before qualifying. Norris and Margarida attended events together throughout much of 2024 before reports claimed that the pair had ended their short-term relationship. Speculation emerged that the pair were dating again after they were spotted together at various public events over the last year including the Monte Carlo Masters in April 2024. Margarida sat alongside Norris' mum, Cisca Wauman, to cheer on her other half to victory at the Monaco Grand Prix back this May, causing dating rumours to heat up again. Margarida, 22 hails from Santarem in Portugal and has amassed a colossal social media following, boasting over two million Instagram followers and more than 800,000 fans on TikTok. As an actress, she has appeared in Portuguese television dramas and is regularly featured in campaigns, including stints for Intimissimi and Alo Yoga. Margarida was a contestant in the country's version of Dancing with the Stars back in 2020. She also co-founded the eco-conscious swimwear brand Missus and has graced the pages of Vogue Portugal. Previously romantically linked with Portuguese footballer Joao Felix from 2019 to 2023, Margarida began dating Norris in May 2023, shortly after his split from Portuguese model Luisinha Oliveira. They had dated for a similar timeframe as Norris and Margarida before ending their romantic association, with the McLaren main man at the time posted a heartfelt break-up message on social media. 'After time and consideration, Luisa and myself have mutually decided to end our romantic relationship but remain good friends,' Norris posted at the time of his split from Luisinha. In August 2024, at the time of the Dutch Grand Prix, Norris appeared to confirm that he was single. When asked if he wanted a dog he said cooly: 'I don't have time for a dog. If I do, I need a girlfriend, I don't have one.' But now, the couple have settled their difference and are back on. On track, Norris still sits second in the Drivers' Championship with 250 points, just 16 points adrift of his team-mate Oscar Piastri as the season hits mid-point. Meanwhile, McLaren are runaway leaders in the Constructors' Championship, leading Ferrari in second by 268 points as they seek back-to-back titles.
